Bring this series back in full swing. Patrick O’Dell has been nailing skateboarding docs for over a decade
Seriously I still watch old eps. They def need to bring it back
Amen
He's by far the best at it. I wish that at some point, everything comes together and we get a full Tom Penny documentary done by Patrick O'Dell. And I hope it isn't TV friendly but done trough some channel where everything can be said. Kinda like the old episodes.
Yeah epicly later'd is one of the pieces of the old internet I feel like I'll always come back and revisit. Among my favorite skate related things, and maybe documentary series outside of skateboarding.
the best
You’re about 15 years late on this vice wtf
So you're saying this video is... epicly late?
Heath was and is a legend. Can't believe he actually did this.
Best skateboarder that ever lived. I was lucky enough to see the Foundation team in 1995. A demo on a tennis court in Collier, Tennessee. Brad Staba, Josh Beagle and Heath Kirchart were the only people I recognized....I was 13 and had only been skating a couple years. Heath was blasting kickflips and frontside 360s over head high off a little jump ramp. Still have the pictures I took on a crappy little disposable camera. I got Heath to sign my shirt and I'm wearing it in my freshman year school picture
He's still alive
@@SkatinOnTrees He doesn't skate any more though.
meh.... admittedly, he was good, BUT he was not great. he was never truly one of the "greats" of skateboarding. even in his time, he was not even in the top 10 of skaters.
Quick to forget Rodney Mullen I see
@@dankquixote completely different skaters. Mullen was the godfather of creating tons of tricks but you definitely aren't going to see him grinding 20 stair handrails or kickflipping 15 stairs.
I will never forget this ramp.
So many legendary memories and busts.
big busts
I used to live down the street from Bob's. We used to sit up on that hill in that nursery to the side of the ramp and watch guys ride. The scale of that thing was humbling. Gave you an adrenaline rush just looking at it.
Please re-master or just re-release the OG series! There is so much gold in there, and the history! The Anti-Hero and Girl tour is forever burnt into my mind. So rad! \m/
"Heath is the perfect example of Strictly Business Skateboarding"
-Andrew Reynolds, Transworld Anthology (2000)
damn love the sound of the ramp it’s so gnarly
Especially on the VX :)
yeah dude its superfly and totally radical isn't it, right on!
@@johnmiller9953 look at you
As a former vert skater, I think the reason I don't feel so sketched thinking about the gap is because I can't stop shitting my pants about the 25 foot (?) vert wall. To me, that's where it's gotta be like, "what the F did I get myself into?"
If there was going to be a street skater to hit that up, I'd definitely be Kirchart. Dudes been a beast his whole career. His part in "The End" was sick to death.
Patrick Odell Nine club episode make it happen.
Love the Skullhead Face shirt. RIP Dave Brockie
Incredible that he was able to 360 nosegrab the mega ramp with a broken collar bone. Absolute legend and sheer grit!
Heath is such a legend! I loved him ever since his amazing part in "The End" so cool that he is pushing himself to such different heights all these years later.
UNDER PRESSURE! lol
Yea this happened 12 years ago, right before he retired. He definitely wouldn’t try this today
Hahahahah I can relate to that elated laughing he gave after all that he Never Gave Up!
Gave me chills
heath kirchart is a legend man still watch his this is skateboarding part one of my favs
I think sight unseen was his best part ever.
@@NittyGritty420 the whole sight unseen video was dope classic
@@EL-CUCUY310 it was the first dvd I ever owned. Got it for Christmas when the family got a DVD player for the first time. Good memories watched it a million times.
@@NittyGritty420 I got it as a gift on VHS lol I'm old.
Remember 411vm?
Damn he retired young, glad he's still alive n kickin' 🤙
Love the sound of the wheel bearings while airborne...just screaming.
2:56 almost like an evil villain chuckle, what a legend
EPICLY LATER'D needs to go in the next round! so overdue... best view into the life & minds of some of the most interesting names in the skateboarding world
I never knew he did this, absolutely insane. But not surprising with his talent and level of skating.
I been skating for damn near 20 years. I can have a 30 min session and my knee is killing me. But with that being said. This is absolutely amazing.
Weak sauce
who asked? hows that relevant? Lol
Bob is a living legend
i live and grew up less then 30 minutes away from where the megaramp is. it was like the holy grail that we knew about but never saw "yeah bob lives in vista bro the mega ramp is there for real!" It was like a old folktale that makes you feel like a little kid. i just told someone i work with today, hes in his 40s and rides bikes now but skated back in the day. we were talking about chad muska and he brought up bob. Didnt even know he was bobs neighbor lmao
heath is one of my all-time favs
To ride ?
Video does not do the mega ramp justice. I couldn’t even stand on the highest drop in. Props to anyone thats attempted it
It blows my mind how far skateboarding has come in the last 10 years
Vice getting back to its roots. More skate content 🙏🔥
Heaths the best.
Stop. STOP. Was that the most beautifully perfect 360 to ever softly grace the gentle surface of this fine earth?
“I almost started crying” No one will truly understand that unless they skate or used to skate
There's a bunch of hidden ramps in California, abandon pools too haha 🌴
That's one of the most savage things Ive ever seen!!🤙👊
Pretty sure I showed this dude a few tricks at his neighbors half pipe. Sid, Sam’s house. Miller 😎✌🏼
Younger generations might not realize heath kirchards mystique as a pro back in the day. Go watch his part in sight unseen. You’ll begin to understand. Then birdhouse the end and trans world anthology part. Super gnarly skating
Now I know for sure my dream is defiantly possible in this lifetime !!!!!!!
gas
Heath is such a legend. I used to love watching these when it came out. Vice Sucks, but you guys need to bring this back.
You should make a video about how Danny Way beat a gay man to death, for hitting on him at a bar. Too many people think he’s a good guy or somebody to be respected. That’s a real skateboarders story that needs told. He’s a very hateful person and doesn’t deserve admiration
The universe is a balance. breaking his collar bone was the price he had to pay, to land the rick
Bring the series back…Patrick wherever you’re hiding come out and give the people and younger skate community what they need
Heath just letting everyone know that if he wants he can do whatever he wants on a skateboard
Epic!
Later.
why isn't he wearing gear? tight fitting motorcycle race jacket and pants, all the armor everything, this will keep you golden, they make is slippery to so it wont grab, you just slide but it has padding all that, if it can protect motorcycle rides at 210 MPH it will protect you, yes you can still move in it, they move all over those bikes.. try it, make something to protect your head as well a gel boxers safety head gear work perfect.. lest tillya have the move down.. sheesh
Vice should sell Epicly Later'd. It's the last thing worth watching on Vice (maybe not this episode) and they clearly don't want my views. What happened to the guy that used to make these? I liked him.
I wouln't try going straight over it either. Holding an air straight that long & far. Nope. I'd be straight into attempting 360s too. Believe it or not, i truely think anyone that can already spin & land 360s comfortably would do the same. More control.
When Adam Savage, Bam, Steve-O, and Johnny Knoxville team up for a project.
Back when megas were a big deal. Now every skatepark has one practically. Was hitting the mega this weekend man fun times but I wish they made something bigger everyone can do mega now
That's the artistic beauty of it...
When you have a name that weird you basically have to be a pro skateboarder.
Heath is an absolute maniac!
Street skaters are not supposed to do this at all... pift. Say that to the creator of the mega ramp. Danny way... who was street. Originally. Epicly Lame
I love that this ramp is literally in the city of Vista,San Diego Ca. I live on the other side of where this ramp is located. The best little city in the world 🌎.
jfc you must have hours of footage of people doing interesting things on a mind blowing ramp and what do you put in the video? talking heads
I RENTED AN AIR BNB IN VISTA CA THAT LOOKED OVER BOB'S PROPERTY & THE SIZE OF THAT RAMP FROM MILES AWAY WAS RIDICULOUS !
1:14 *"When in doubt, go flatout"* - Colin McRae.
All of anything I have done with a board bike or car started with playing Hotwheels
Anyone else have an old skateboarding injury that started aching when they saw this???
It's weird that someone at vice remembers what skateboard is
that narrow margin between super human and fucking suicidal
Injuries force you to land tricks. Cuz if you don't you're utterly fucked
Lol bob out here acting like he couldn't jump on any street rail he wanted.
yeah but if there was any street skater who would do the mega ramp, it would be Heath Kirchart.
Broken legs and knocked out? sounds like MMA. Grow some balls.
epic humans attempt epic things... lame people never even try....
I broke my collarbone and that’s the most pain I’ve been in u have to sleep while sitting
When Jerry said he saw it at the premiere. Can someone remind me what video it ended up in? Dont think it was in Stay Gold
Yeesssss, stay gold Heath!
This ramp is so huge. My 10 year old dropped in on the quarter pipe!
Point of the video -
Break your collar bone and you can achieve anything
This has been my dream since I was 11
Heath is the man, always had such a cool style.
Great story. Awful editing.
more epicly later'd PLEASE
if i would try to skate that mega ramp i most likly would mess it up just before the jump and fall down and die.. if not then the embarasment will kill me.. cauz i have a thing for sabbotage everything when im around people because i get so nervous to fail that im always do it :( soo the people that dear to skate like this are truly bad ass people.
Is this a teaser for a new episode or just proof O'Dell and the series is still alive?
Howd they figure out where you land when they were building it
Every time i see someone stand a jump on that thing my jaw pops open 😮
Are you back Pat????? We fkn love you !!!
Came to see how Vice can make skateboarding woke.
Bring back all the episodes!!! Wtf quit holding out on us. The people have spoken.
Is there a full episode of this or what!?
It's just pulled from Heath's epicly latered
But atiba was wearing a Dylan shirt it must be relatively new
@@JethroRogers ohh thats right ok thanks. Been awhile since I've watched it
I'm looking off to my left at my VHS copy of rolling thunder, my favorite skate video ever and realizing that heath has been bad ass for nearly 30 years.
What if actually he skated mega for real?
If you don't have *any* type of crush on Heath, are you really a skater?
Ha, you know the answer to that.
You can close your eyes and hear the mega ramp alone and you can tell what mega ramp it is
In 100s of years humans will look back on skate boarding accomplishments with a smile of disbelief.
Amazing I like than man
I really wanna try Bob's ramp before I die
Dude Heath is a fuckin G lol
Danny Way started this mega ramp
Dude, that was fucking gnarly Heath!
Isn't this like ten years old?
Lizard king did it as well, right?
🐐💫
✅
I was nervous so I busted out a 360
Heath is so cool man.
Story goes Keith broke his collar and Bob dressed in his outfit to get his clip for him
haha I heard that but I really don't think so, it doesn't look like bob's style at all
