  • This was an easy copy. The record was clean & the filmstrip still has hints of green to it. After watching this, I couldn't help but think these plows don't look much different than the IH 500 series of plow. Deere seemed to have been first out the gate with them though.
    Hope you enjoy!
    Regards!!

They made these in a three bottom plow as well. I had one, but, I also had rocks, so, I finally bought an IH with the auto trip springs. With the John Deere, if you tripped a bottom, you had to stop and back up to reset the plow. It was a good plow, but, the IH was better, I also got it with 18 inch bottoms. I had heavy ground, and, so I pulled a 3-18 with my 4020. The IH had more trash clearance as well, so, it rarely plugged in heavy corn stalks. Minnimum tillage was just coming in and, I also used a chisel plow.

Some of the very early 3010s and 4010s had the square seats in Deere’s advertising.

Notice the 4010 has more of a 730 style seat. The 4010 must be a proto type.

@@fredkohlman8860 Having grown up during the 4010 era, I don't ever recall seeing a 3010, or larger 10 series tractor with that type of seat. And believe me I saw 100's of 10 series tractors. Every deere dealership we went to I would hop on the tractors, evrey country fair, ever neighbor we would visit, every tractor I saw from the school bus. I would challenge (friendly challenge) you to find any other video on youtube with a 3010 or larger tractor with that type of seat.

@@greggergen9104all the 10 series around me were equipped with the deluxe yellow. That's 2010, 3010, and 4010. Kinda recall a 3010 with the 'put-put' (if you will) seat. And that farmer farmed about 20 mile away and probably dealt with a different dealer further from me. If you listen to the add, I'm thinking the deluxe seat mentioned as optional.

@@greggergen9104I don't know where to find a 10 series with old style seat. Why 1would a guy not want the deluxe seat to ride on all day. I don't remember the cost difference, but times were pretty good then. And I really do not believe the choice of seats on the 10 series lasted the complete model run, just saying. But the add does say it's an option. I'm thinking I kinda remember seeing old style in Georgia, maybe Mississippi. Too long ago.

It sure looks similar. Same with the steerable plows from Case, Oliver, etc. Wonder how everyone got around the patents?

@@gleanerk It is odd. I think JD had theirs out first. Will have to research that. Not that I'd want one of their plows. Heard from many people that they pull hard.... including JD owners. Honestly, all the shares look pretty darned similar if you ask me. Well, except for those fancy Kverneland shares. Still need to get one of those plows. The darned used ones have been going up in price though.

Lot of guys figured out that their 720-730 would pull a 5-14 due to the weight transfer better than a trailing of course but even a 4-14 mounted plow.

@@ikonseesmrno7300 He's talking about the slide changing ding... It's annoying and probably quite disconcerting to someone who's never seen a slideshow before. I guess I'm giving away my age now LOL, but I remember slideshows from school. Anyway, that's how they signaled the person running the slideshow to hit the button to change to the next slide... course some slide projectors had some sort of mechanism that could read a low-tone "beep" on the tape and would automatically forward to the next slide...

@@lukestrawwalker Ohhhhhh! That ding. Guess I didn't notice it on my end. The audio here is relatively quiet & I'm not sure who's listening, so I keep the audio track somewhat loud in case one or some of the viewers are hard of hearing. I did note that the ding on these records vary in volume & that doesn't help much either. Currently at an impasse about what to do. Only 6 videos left & I'm done for now. Was planning on remastering the film part of the videos next winter, may have to do more to the audio as well. Thanks for the heads up!
