As we all know, in reality, he has very little to offer as a content creator given his more or less average gaming skills, mediocrity as a producer of video-based content, and abrasive anti-fun personality. So he needs this facade, to legitimize his performances, because it’s all he really has left and he knows it. His claim to possess this extensive history and knowledge of video games is betrayed by his ignorance. He’s so comfortable with his lies at this point that he doesn’t even notice the obvious paradoxes they create.
A true reason DSP considers himself a live interactive streamer who shares chill and meaningful slurs with his audience is so he can be handheld through every game he plays. The most regarded part about this rant is that Lae'zel is actually the most mobile melee character in the game, she has TWO racial bonuses to boost movement range, one is a teleport and the other a triple jump distance buff. Its once again highlighting how bad he is as a gamer
The thing with that is he'll complain and say it's bad game design to have anything to increase movement or other ways to move, he'd say "why not just let me move around as much as I want to, when I want to and as far as I want to?" and instead of seeing those as a good things, to Phil it's all bad

seeing dsp actually play in a dnd campaign would be the funniest fucking thing ever. he'd get so frustrated that the dm was asking him what he wanted to do and he'd constantly be complaining about not knowing what he should do in literally any given situation
We had a guy in our group who wanted to hang out more than play. When shit got hairy, he refused to do anything without group consensus. The DM would say "stop asking for advice, you don't have time to talk in game." So he started moving his mini, and when he was where he thought was good, he would awkwardly stand there, holding his mini, and look around the table for confirmation lol

“Karlach has this amazing ability to walk farther” SHE’S A BARBARIAN. IT’S A CLASS FEATURE. Oh my god, he hasn’t read any of the class features on any class. Holy fucking shit
After finishing BG3 I actually got into pen and paper D&D and joined my coworkers campaign. We play once a week over Discord and it's hella fun times. Also, the stat he's talking about in Dark Souls 2 is not actually required to roll. Your roll type and distance is based on your weightload. Anything over 70% and you fat roll, but the lower your weight gets the farther your roll goes and the faster your stamina recovers. Like Atlus said, what Adaptability actually does is increase the s your roll has, so it's easier to time rolling through attacks. Yes, you have to be pretty spot on with your timing to evade attacks at low Agility levels (8 s below 90 Agility vs the 13 you get at 105 Agility), but you can still do it. Agility also governs the speed at which you consume items, so you can act faster afterwords, with 110 being the softcap. That Phil has the reaction speed of a sloth taking a shit is not a shortcoming of the game.
I get sick and tired of hearing DSP saying he has a "right" to criticize something or someone, but when someone gives him legitimate criticism he calls them stupid, a moron, a troll, a detractor sends them to banworld and then throws a 5 - 10 min temper tantrum about it. It just seems so childish coming from a 42 year old.
The irony is DSP doesn't even need to upgrade his athletics. He can just use Dash, Haste, Misty Step or Fly to move much further. Also, Longstrider and Jump as already mentioned.
Also, each round in D&D represents 6 seconds of combat. So he wants his dood to be Flash Gordon moving the whole map at once I guess. Otherwise, sissy ninny.

I like how one of his complaints is thrown at Laezel. The character who as a githyanki has a teleport. With his small smooth brain im surprised it doesn't slide out of his head
Off the top of my head i can think of multiple ways DSP could handle the “no movement problem” 1. Dash. You can literally just use an action to double movement 2. certain items such as Crusher’s ring give a little movement boost 3. Misty step lets you travel 18M anywhere as a bonus action 4. speed potions he’s just insanely stubborn
Okay now I'm 100% convinced 1mm is dsp and now he's just using it as an excuse to go on a 39iQ rant, 1mm has been tipping forever now and he just started to leave a messages with his tips recently and every time he does dsp goes on another rant. He's literally arguing with himself for an imaginary $25.
One thing DSP doesn't seem to understand is that D&D combat is taking place in a different amount of time than it takes for him to decide what to do. For him he can sit there for hours trying to rub the last two functioning neurons in his gin-brain together to figure out how to proceed, while to the characters these things are happening in seconds. It takes time to run across a room, it takes time to fire a spell or swing your weapon. These actions also take effort and stamina. Phil just sees a videogame character and he's used to thinking of them as magical little creatures that never get tired they just do whatever you make them do, that's not the mindset you want to take to D&D.
It's not that hard to understand that while for us, the player, combat slows down so we can make the decision on what our next move is. While for the characters everything is happening in real time so the limited movement makes sense. The game isn't outdated, he is.
Philip Burnell is saying "I've learned nothing and am sick of trying, people need to design their games better." which I'm sure wouldn't garner notice if he weren't insulting the 2023 game of the year. How do you make a game that's better than game of the year?
I think this was the most close of DSP saying he prefers games like ubitrash and sony where they put yellow paint on stairs and things to him know what to do plus adaptive difficulty. i don't remember his stance about the horizon devs critiqued elden ring UI/UX experience but DSP hated the freedom and the game not telling him shit.
I once made a Bard named Lon Jennon and every time i cast a spell i had to sing a rendition of a Beatles song to get it to work. If i couldnt think of some lyrics on the fly my DM raised my DC for it or lowered saving throw DC. DnD can LITERALLY be played any way you want and i think BG does a great job of translating that. Phil is the one who is outdated and annoying.
His problem is he wants to say "it's naht realistic" but you can't really say that with, all of that. He hates that game and wants it done ASAP but it keeps going lmao.
Omfg, Phil saying that the ending is the reward, and not the journey. The *only* reason an ending is so rewarding or devastating, is *because of* the journey! You can flip to the end of any book, or cheat your way to the end of any game, and feel nothing for it. The experiences, toils, sentiments, and the emotional rollercoaster is the reward, and the ending just serves to wrap it all up into a satisfying conclusion. Sometimes Phil genuinely borders on being intellectually stunted to a clinical degree. Also, the Prof. X "joke" gave off strong vibes of when he told Super Blind Man "you can't see what I'm seeing". Big ups, Atlus, another robust video!
Phil doesn't like DnD concepts or mechanics because he can't godmod the fuck out of his character in this game. Literally the worst kind of party member, the type who just "um, actually-"s the entire time over nonsense that really /doesn't/ matter outside of someone wanting a perfect, mary-sue run. "If you like a world where everything is defined by statistics-" Newsflash Phil, BG3 is based on a style of gaming where your DM responds to half of your ideas with "roll for ____". I'm well aware there's some rng and statistics involved. Unlike Phil, I'm fine with failing the rolls on some of those ideas and improvising something new.
I think DSP is missing important points here. What if the adventurers have bad backs, or are depressed. Or what if they are former alcoholics. Or maybe they really need the money. Or I could imagine that walking is just not fun for them, and they don't want to do it, and are about to rage quit the fight.
Just because Dungeons & Dragons plays differently than the video games he’s used to play, it doesn’t mean it’s outdated and annoying. Maybe Phil himself is the one who’s actually outdated and annoying.
Someone should ask how far Phil can move in 8 seconds, which is what a round represents. I'd also like to see him play a real numbers game like Disgaea lol
The adaptability argument is so turbo tarded coming from him because he spent half the game with the great sword/tower shield combo and still thought his way to not get hit was to roll. Dude had the near ultimate defense build and expected to agility his way through fights. Don’t get me started on the cleric robe either
There's multiple endings. If he gets one he doesnt like it's entirely his fault. Like everything else. He simply lacks the maturity to appreciate freedom.
Hearing DSP complain about certain game mechanics is about as obnoxious as he is. "The characters can't run very long, whyyyy. That's not realistic." Well, DSP, there's no such thing as a health potion. Health potions aren't realistic. See, we could literally complain about realism all day long, doesn't make him any less annoying lol
I think that i have a good tolerance for lolcow level stupid but listening to him not realise that the characters can only do a certain amount of things a turn because there is technically a time limit to turns is getting to me. Edit: I kind of want to see clips of him trying to play Kotor now.
Know what? Listening to DSP complain about Baldurs Gate 3 made me decide to try it, it’s got more depth than I’m used to but with trial and error I’m really enjoying it so far. Thanks you no talent hack for allowing me to find a new game I like.
To correct some misinformation here! Love you Atlus! Not everyone has Longstrider, only certain spell casters can. However, every character does have the ability to increase their movement within the game called taking the dash action which takes up your action for the turn. Also a cantrip is a spell, so you aren't wrong. A cantrip is just a spell you can cast over and over without using up a resource. Also, also! DSP is so beyond stupid and doesn't understand this game at a core level because putting "points" into Athletics will not increase your movement speed. Your movement speed only increases from abilities granted by classes AKA Rogue, Barbarian, Monk, and some casters who can cast spells to do it for you. Also, also, also! Turn base mechanics am I right dooooods
A typical dnd turn takes place in about 6 seconds. DSP really wants to be able to run a mile in that time Edit: if he doesn’t like the ending, it’s entirely his fault. There are multiple endings based on your choices
He's so insufferable with his hot takes man. I swear... "I'm a sorcerer, I should be able to hover and fly around" You can literally do all those things, but his dense ass didn't choose those spells to learn.
One thing that really annoys me with DSP, and honestly everyone else that does this, is when they present their own opinions as fact. "This system makes it less fun". It's totally fine if YOU feel that way, but don't try to present it as some objective truth. Also, EVERYONE hated Dark Souls 2? Sure.
I absolutely love how he said D&D is outdated and annoying. I would love for him to tell that to all the people who still play DND and many other systems like it like Pathfinder, for example
I have some pretty lofty goals for my life. DSP makes me firmly believe that I can achieve them all. If DSP can act the way he does and still garner an audience who will pay him, then I'm confident I can create my own thriving business.
Longstrider is ritual spell that has no cost if casted outside of battle and lasts until long rest. Jump range depends on Strength stat. Monks and Barbarians get abilities that increase their maximum movement depending on equipment (example: monks get half as much movement if they don't wear armour). So yeah ... the only time you can bemoan movement speed is beginning of campain if you play as a shortstack (Dwarf, Halfling, Gnome), don't yet have a caster with Longstrider and 8 Strength.
It's kinda fascinating to see a person like DSP being completely devoid of imagination and curiosity. I know that with a large population of human beings anything is possible but lacking these traits is almos inhuman. Even people who hate art have a pinch of creativity in them.

Why is Phil being damn stupid like this over a game? Just my god even his Dents know better.
Especially for playing this game over 80 hours or more.
I can’t wait until he gets to the beach scene in FF7 Rebirth and sees Tifa and Aerith. He will clown it up for sure.
I don't play D&D but Phil can *SNORT* these Dwarfen nuts
I think DSP is missing important points here. What if the adventurers have bad backs, or are depressed. Or what if they are former alcoholics. Or maybe they really need the money. Or I could imagine that walking is just not fun for them, and they don't want to do it, and are about to rage quit the fight.
Very relatable and realistic
Lets give Phil some heavy armor , some supplies to carry and a large sword . Then lets see how fast he is walking around swinging that thing.
It’s even shorter than that, 6s.
DSP- Hurts himself in confusion.
That's not realistic."
Well, DSP, there's no such thing as a health potion. Health potions aren't realistic. See, we could literally complain about realism all day long, doesn't make him any less annoying lol
One video from you is more meaningful and robust than Phil's entire god-forsaken career.
First thing i learned is if i jump first i usually can make a attack
I think that i have a good tolerance for lolcow level stupid but listening to him not realise that the characters can only do a certain amount of things a turn because there is technically a time limit to turns is getting to me.
Edit: I kind of want to see clips of him trying to play Kotor now.
There is a whole kotor tihydp waiting for your viewing pleasure 🙏
This is what a child with no siblings becomes when he have no friends and never speaks To people, only At people for almost a lifetime
His laughing at his own jokes makes me so violent.
GOATed Atlus the Sandwichkeeper art.
it's flavorful and robust dood
Know what? Listening to DSP complain about Baldurs Gate 3 made me decide to try it, it’s got more depth than I’m used to but with trial and error I’m really enjoying it so far. Thanks you no talent hack for allowing me to find a new game I like.
God he is insufferable. Why would anyone watch this intentionally? Dents in deed.
DSP really wants to be able to run a mile in that time
Edit: if he doesn’t like the ending, it’s entirely his fault. There are multiple endings based on your choices
He's so insufferable with his hot takes man. I swear...
"I'm a sorcerer, I should be able to hover and fly around"
You can literally do all those things, but his dense ass didn't choose those spells to learn.
One thing that really annoys me with DSP, and honestly everyone else that does this, is when they present their own opinions as fact. "This system makes it less fun". It's totally fine if YOU feel that way, but don't try to present it as some objective truth. Also, EVERYONE hated Dark Souls 2? Sure.
It still trips me out now all of a sudden 1MM started talking.
He was a better character and more interesting when he didnt
I absolutely love how he said D&D is outdated and annoying. I would love for him to tell that to all the people who still play DND and many other systems like it like Pathfinder, for example
DnD is something to be enjoyed with friends, a concept that is foreign to him.
Cope harder, Philbert.
Phil: "Give me money!"
*rolls for Persuasion check; gets a Nat 1*
Phil: "What the f*ck!? It bugged out, dood! sad snort"
He hates bg3 so much. If it wasn't bringing in money he would've dropped this weeks ago.
ARGHHHHHHHHHH!
I have some pretty lofty goals for my life. DSP makes me firmly believe that I can achieve them all. If DSP can act the way he does and still garner an audience who will pay him, then I'm confident I can create my own thriving business.
I believe in you big dog 🙏
@@AtlustheBookkeeper Thanks bro you're my favorite skeleton lol
This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed home,
Longstrider is ritual spell that has no cost if casted outside of battle and lasts until long rest.
No wonder he skipped the first 2 fallouts
TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS A DAY?!? 750 a average month what job do you have to do that I think twice before going to get breakfast out of the house for $15
It's kinda fascinating to see a person like DSP being completely devoid of imagination and curiosity. I know that with a large population of human beings anything is possible but lacking these traits is almos inhuman. Even people who hate art have a pinch of creativity in them.
I Got the Drip Gout, I got the *Snort* Drip Gout
massive ups our bookkeeper. remember yall phil is HAPPILY married thats why he has to tell us about it every time.
I love the sandwich shop avatar. It feels like that’s the only thing phill understands is food.
Trying to communicate on his level
@@AtlustheBookkeeper never go full lv 1 though
Well of course he doesn’t like DnD, DSP already lives in a fantasy world
He really hates learning. I have never seen anyone react this strongly against something that requires them to think.
As a teacher who has to deal with this from children, seeing a grown azz man act like this is really triggering. At least children have some leeway l.
To be fair, DSP is an expert at being old and boring.
DSP's "strategy" has always been to brute-force the same thing until it works. Or cheat, I suppose.
