The day has finally arrived and I’m delighted to say that my 13th studio album “songs for the drunk and broken hearted” is OUT NOW!! You can listen to it on all streaming platforms or buy a copy from my website. Massive thanks to everyone who has already preordered it!! I couldn’t be prouder of this record. Its been a long road to get to this point but I think the album is all the better for it… we thought we’d finished it early last year and had it all ready to come out in May but due to lockdown/general global meltdown we decided to hold it back and I’m so glad we did… In that time I wrote a bunch of new songs and ended up adding a few of them to the album… one of which is here for your listening and viewing pleasure 😇 Its called “sword from the stone” some of you might remember that it also featured on my “patchwork” album released in the summer… I’m not in the habit of putting the same track on multiple albums but the two versions are so different that I think/hope its ok 😇 I wrote this song in the first lockdown when I was feeling pretty wonky and weird about the world and as a result I feel like it might have captured something that has been universally experienced this year- The way that time has seemed to pass horribly slowly and strangely quickly all at once and the emotional rollercoaster that we have all been on A gigantic thank you to Chris Vallejo and everyone involved in making this album sound as it does, to Sarah Larnach for the beautiful artwork and to Raja Virdi and the full crew for making the video so beautiful! Lost my husband 10 years ago he was 42 and I was 38... It must be so hard during a pandemic, you can't see friends and family. Stay strong. I know it's easy to say. I've always found music a great solace x it all takes time and 4 weeks is a drop in the ocean. Very very very very very slowly things get less crazy and more manageable but you always occasionally have blips, birthdays, anniversaries, significant dates, your kids reaching milestones.... Keep thinking of the happy times x I recall someone saying grief is the price you pay for love. Very true!!!! I hope you find some peace and comfort in the music xx

Because Ed is a sellout and Mike isn't. You ever hear the Ed Sheeran songs they play on the radio? They sound like every other garbage song. Ed sold out for money and fame and Mike just does what he loves and pours his heart and soul into in.
Lol it's not so much about making music that people enjoy as it is making music HE enjoys. Maybe Ed does like the new modern pop like sound that's vastly different from his original style of music. However I think he caved to the influence of record executives who told him to change his style in order to stay relevant. There is a lot of pressure on musicians to compromise themselves and make music that they don't really want to make. Since they want the money and the fame, however, they do it anyway. That's why every song on the radio, despite the genre, sounds like it was made in a factory on a boiler plate. Listen to passenger's -27 great song and Mike just about sums this up better than I can.

Despite knowing he needs to let her go, he can't succeed to pull out the love and hurt from his heart. However, if you listen to "Sword from the stone" first and then "Let her go", then it's a story of a man who has finally come to terms with his loss and has been able to move on. _one is a bittersweet story, another one is inspiring, can't decide which I love more tbh_
Passenger tells the story of my broken life on this earth and has become one of my favorites of all musicians through out my journey as I continue traveling across the land!
My grandparents were seperated for 4 months in 2020 because my granddad was ill. He was in hospital those 4 months, fighting to get better. He was so strong mentally. He fought so hard to get back home to my grandma, but in the end he had to give up because he felt that his exhausted body couldn't take it any more. He went home to die in peace. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of their situation. Miss you grandpa ❤️

I lost my hamster a few days ago, I loved her to bits, she had the most sensitive soul. She was very unwell, and her death was so sudden and premature. my heart is broken because I have to ask how something so innocent and beautiful can be taken away in an instant. I have been on the rollercoaster of grief since. I remember listening to this song religiously when it was first released, its truly a poignant work of art. I haven't listened to it since 2021, however since she passed, this song has lingered in my mind... constantly. I haven't actively played the song since she passed, but my connection to it has felt strangely and intuitively strong. I just took a trip to the supermarket and what are the chances that this song at 11pm played right the way through as I was walking through the isles. I know you're up there Boo :)

When I saw the tracklist of the new album and Sword from the stone was there, I was so excited to have another version, however I never thought that I would be crying once again, and literally I am... Sword from the stone is literally the best song of Mike's discography.
