  • The Via Degli Dei ("Path of the Gods") is one of the best known hiking routes in Italy. Starting in the gorgeous city of Bologna, the capital of Emilia-Romagna and ending in renaissance Florence, capital city of Tuscany, the path winds its way through 130kms of glorious Italian mountain scenery.
Day 5 started in mud and ended in the dark. The longest day of the trek took us deeper into the glorious woodlands of Tuscany. Descending steeply from Monte Gazzaro and into the rolling agricultural lands of the Mugello, Florence is getting nearer by the step! A quintessential day of hiking in Italy.

Thanks! The mud on this day was by far the worst I encountered - thick & viscous - the kind that clogs up your treads and makes it impossible to achieve a grip on anything. But fortunately after 15 mins of squelching, it was behind me and the rest of the day was just your average run-of-the-mill mud...
