    I never knew there was a guard for 1.5! That looks easy. I used a 2 guard. Then used a 1 guard. And to blend the 2 into 1, I used the 1 guard, with the blades open. I don’t know if this technique alone blends if the best but it works for me.

    This is a good video. I've been cutting my hair for three years and learned from vids like these and trial and error... I made a deal with a local barber that I would cut my hair the best I could and he would fix it up for 10 bucks. I did that a few times and then over time I didn't need to get it fixed anymore. Now I cut my hair the best it's ever been cut, for free and I enjoy the challenge.

    Would it be possible to get a step by step description? I often get so confused when people which from open to close lever during the part where you are blending the Line.

    • @mikehubble8976
      @mikehubble8976 3 года назад

      When I started I had the same issue, even this video he said open when it was closed lol. Here's a step by step... Put in your first line with a 2 CLOSED about an inch above your ear or temple area, take your time and get it even all around. Put on your 1 guard CLOSED and cut about an inch under that 2 guard line all around and down. Put on your 1 1/2 guard HALF OPEN, go almost up to the two line all around. Now CLOSE your 1 1/2 guard and go all around about a quarter inch down from where you were. Now you should have a line left but it will be much lighter... Put you 1 guard back on and OPEN it about halfway and continue around using a C motion. Close the guard a little so it's about a quarter open, be careful and use the corner of the blade and clean up any line that remains....Hope this helped someone! :)

      Erin one small bit of advice I learned long ago in Barber College. Always remember you can always cut more off if its too long but once you cut it off you cant put it back. What does that mean Michael??! Until you are comfortable with your finances hair and the clippers ALWAYS START WITH A BIGGER GUARD THEN YOU NEED AND THE LEVER OPEN THEN WORK YOUR WAY DOWN TO THE SIZE YOU NEED. Been using little reminder in my head for over 20 years!! Good luck!!

  • @alexandersandino1988
    @alexandersandino1988 4 года назад

    at (Not using the 1 1/2 guard) 5:24 when you mention about using the back of the blade instead of the front blades to avoid lines. Isn't that like kinda giving a 1.75 ?
    (using the back blade only, Making it a little bit longer.)
    Like if you use the front blades you would create a line.
    So now here is my question.
    Is using the 1 1/2 guard with the lever in middle is equal to the 1.75 as well ? Is that why you say it's easier and to preferably just to use the 1 1/2 guard ?
    I'm asking this because when I cut my own hair I've noticed that when I skip the 1 1/2 guard I tend to create another line(It's hard to use the back blade on the back of my head.) And when I do use the 1 1/2 guard my blends look way better. That's what I mean by using the back blade and creating the "1.75" number. whether If I just use the 1 1/2 guard and set the lever to the middle I create the "1.75" and don't really have to use the back blade as much.
    Thanks in advance !

    I get confused when people say lever open and lever closed. Some people say it's open when the lever is down while others say the opposite. Is the lever opened or closed when the lever is pushed down?

    • @ericespinoza5322
      @ericespinoza5322 4 года назад

      On my machine, when the lever is point down, or in the vertical position, it’s open, the blades are not lined up together. When the lever is at an angle, the blades are together, which is closed I believe.

    Thank you for the video. So, if I understood well, for any hair clipper, the full travel of the lever corresponds to a whole guard number? For instance, 1 closed = 2, and so...? What about the Wahl brand, that brings 1/2 and 1 1/5 guards? Is a 1 halfway lever equal to 1.5?

    • @DavidFalla
      @DavidFalla  5 лет назад

      So in theory a 1 open should be a 1 1/2 but since there was a huge gap between the 1 and 2, Wahl made a 1 1/2 guard. You don’t need it at all but it makes life easier. Same applies for the 1/16 or 1/2

      @@DavidFalla Is this why it's important to use the back blade with the 1 lever all the way open to give it that extra length when not using the 1 1/2 guard ? Kinda like creating a 1.75 when using the back blade ?

    • @DavidFalla
      @DavidFalla  4 года назад

      Exactly! That’s the reason why but in my opinion is just easier to use the 1 1/2 guard

    • @cheongtookit7497
      @cheongtookit7497 5 лет назад +1

      Simple! Use a 1/2 guard with the level in between the open and close.that will give you a 3/4 guard.then use it to fade in between the guideline of #1 guard and #1/2 guard.

    The other technique is instead of the one guard closed, open it. Then go to 2, after that get the 1 1/2 guard, close it half way, and cut holding the clipper turn to an obtuse angle

    • @franciscocharco2291

      Thats right , use the 2 and 2 open to make a ridge (1 st and mainguide ) , make it smooth and finnish it with 2 closed on the guideline only dont push that 2 in , open lever halfway and make guideline so when u open it and follow up itll make the half (.5) easily , but first i would fade the bald line (.0) to the 2nd guideline made with the half lever open(.25) , take the (.0) line with the trimmers followed up by clipper closed no guard .. hope this helped someone.. then used 1 and half guard to blend down , dont close it just follow the line and come back to the close and open using your lever too take that line out , then 1 guard open and closed then 1 guard open and closed fading out , (close and cut , open and cut , close and cut , reapeat till that line is out) , then half guard guard open - halfway open then ,
      Then closed , halfway open then closed halway open till that lines out

    • @franciscocharco2291

      Then last step is fading with 1 and half guard , close , halfway close , fully close .. follow these steps i promise itll change your way of seeing blends
