There is a pretty good chance you were playing against bots. Pokémon Unite will match you against bots occasionally, especially after a loss or two. The easiest way to tell is to click on their name after he game and there will be no options menu pop up for them to add as a friend or anything.
Or look at their cards. Not all of these games were bot games. The one where they were calling charmander a kid was definitely a bot though. They all had the scripted movement and then turn and run at the specific hp threshold.
