Agree with El Cid 100% about Ikechi. He is giving off these vibes that he wants to be adored and praised. I saw it when he was telling Emem his story and he looked like he was expecting violins to start playing and for tears to start falling. He looked like he was expecting a big response, while she was just listening and taking it in. He really wants someone to fawn over him and I don't think Emem is that person. She probably had her own struggles to overcome, but he's not interesting in learning about her.
As a married person I have learned that sometimes if you want something from your spouse, you have to show it/do it yourself so that in that way you are teaching them what you need. Camille just be complaining about his swag but she’s doing nothing to help him get swag and she is certainly not showing it herself because I don’t see swag when I look at Camille.
Watching this live, I was reminded why I often watch LBB91. Kojo, Cway, Shawn, Jai, El CID, the other members of the LBB 91 panel, & the chat are some of the best doing live shows on social media!! I haven’t seen another show on social media that’s comparable to it. I have witnessed incredible growth in everyone. It’s a very positive experience because people are increasingly more receptive to hearing different perspectives & almost everyone treats each other with respect, kindness, & patience when they disagree. I am impressed with their wisdom, knowledge, intelligence, excellent interpersonal & communication skills & ability to foster open, constructive, & productive dialogue. It’s especially inspiring to feel the family vibe of persons of different cultures, nationalities, genders, generations, & socioeconomic & educational backgrounds.

Allen! Good to hear from you. You're one of my all time fave guys on this show. You're a good mix of a little bit of everything. Love it. Can't wait for your interview with Kojo.
Regarding Camille, Kojo i agree with you!!! I think people are being willfully disingenuous to not understand why Thomas' way of being could be a turnoff for her. Anyone can watch Thomas & see that he has been more influenced by the non-black people he grew up with. Of course black people come from all backgrounds but you all know he behaves more like a stereotypical white guy. It is more likely he grew up laughing at Seinfield or Friends than Martin. Humor is a big thing in dating. Like he made the joke about the water flosser. I dont think it really grossed her out but it was an example of how he isnt funny to her because he has white people humor, to put it bluntly. Finally, i think people are adding extra onto what Camille is saying. In simplest terms she is just saying that he is corny and her attraction to him is hindered because he doesnt possess the vibe that she most comfortably relates to. She knows she cant change him and she never said this would be a reason to divorce. All shes saying is that the attraction isnt naturally flowing yet because Thomas doesnt have the essence of a typical black man who grew up with black people and black family. The attraction will have to grow as she gets to know him and spend more time with him. And just because she prefers more 'swag' doesnt mean she wants a hood thug either. Also, it may seem she is constantly talking about it, but remember this is tv and the producers are asking her about what issues she sees and they have to create a storyline. Otherwise she may not have brought up at all.
Yeah people are being willfully obtuse about this but also...Camille made her point and should let it go. He's not gonna magically morph into some super soul brotha if she keeps harping on it enough
Know I think Kojo and you are being obtuse. Yiu don't get to tell someone that aren't black enough. BLACK PEOPLE AREN'T A MONOLITH. It's ignorant to judge people on a narrowed minded view of blackness.
I get what the panel is saying about Camille's comments about Thomas. She has a narrow view of blackness and it is offensive. The J's??? Come on, Camille! What she wants is for Thomas to exhibit more confidence, but she's a bit immature and focusing on the wrong thing when clearly, they align on so many other levels.
Jealousy envy, smiling faces they don’t tell the truth, and neither do the poets. The poet was never going to be poetic towards you. She was homie zoned from the beginning and she is never 👎 gonna get his loving 🥰
Remember that scene from Eddie Murphy's movie, "Coming to America?" The scene where he takes his crush to his apartment and he's painting this picture of his meager and poor accommodations before they walk in??? Ikechi is an actor and straight copied that entire scene in this episode! He did his best Eddie Murphy impersonation by taking lines straight from the 1980's movie classic.
I want to know where Madison really went that night. The way she walked in that apartment grinning ear to ear led me to believe that she was up to no good.
Thomas does seem like a nice guy but I couldn’t do a Thomas. He comes off sleepy, nonchalant, no life in his eyes, just dull. But the comments about being in an interracial relationship is Crazyyyyyyy
keep in mind that he specifically asked for a real black women .. he cares about black women and does not want to embarrass or hurt a black womens feelings
Emem scaled her personality back a lot. She’s not acting as outgoing and bubbly as she was initially. She seems to be trying to find out where Ekechi is coming from, because she’s having difficulty figuring him out.
Michelle is mean. And David's space is giving lazy and directionless. At his big age, he couldn't pick up and clean before having his wife over?! Just eww.
I had to learn as a fellow interracial person, like Thomas that either you like me for me or you don't. Some people judge us this way and that way, but we can't live our lives for others, we must be our true selves and others will either accept us or not.
We know there is a difference between the black and white side in a mixed heritage but what we are saying is that Camille herself does not have swag! Did you see what she was wearing at the house? And I don’t know about y’all but Thomas was looking goodt at the after show!!!!! I think it’s hard to ask for something that you don’t have yourself and I’m sorry but Camille does not give off swag or sexy…. I get her and I think Camille is around black people but instead of saying he doesn’t have swag all the time, perhaps she can pull it out of him
About Camille and Thomas... Thomas is a "bl-erd" (a black nerd, an "Oreo", a Poindexter)... he speaks properly and has a lisp. Camille just wants a black man who isn't geeky. She keeps saying "swag", not truly able 2 describe what she wants. She wants that black dude that has his own walk, has a deep, smooth voice, and looks like Rakim. She didn't anticipate receiving a light-skinned man who wears suits. I really think she is used to dating darker men who can culturally relate to her. She just isn't properly able to voice it.
I am not buying it about Camille. She is too smart to have this type of conversation and to be repetitive. This is all tv produced. She and Thomas, I believe are getting along well There would not be a story line if they didn't have the " race" card and "swag." conversations. It's all for content creators and the viewers. I thought she was a college graduate. Thomas is, I know. The conversation about high school convinced me that it's all for tv. She's been out of his for over 10 years. Why would she bring up hs? Her sister's reaction was telling. I believe that they REALLY talk after the camera. She dealt with that 9 yr.. infidelity...etc She appears to me to speak up and is adamant about how they are going to present themselves on tv. I don't believe that was Thomas' s main residence, if it's his place at all Think about it.If they are getting along well "enough "on camera and after the cameras, what would we talk about? Tell me because I want to know.
There is nothing wrong with the basement! Michelle was going on like she lives in some mansion….your house was simple mam, nothing extravagant about it! David had more space it looked like. He single, left an apartment with a styler and moved home to save money! What is wrong with that? Plus he’s ready to leave and buy a house. Michelle is JUDGEMENTAL!!!!!!! She’s worked hard but who hasn’t!!! Is she the only one who’s worked hard in life? Like pleasassseeeeee…
*David and Michelle* It’s not about David living in a basement for whatever reason wrong or right. it’s that HES WILLING TO LIVE IN A BASEMENT at his big age. The more he shows he’s pretty cool about it the more a woman sees he can’t be her security. It’s biological…cause what would he do with their kids, have them sleeping in a subway? That thought process is not the vision MOST women probably have in a partner. Anyone worth it would hold enough pride to say, even if I’m struggling financially I REFUSE to live in my parents home let alone underneath it.
45:14 - Koj it’s not that you don’t have to be white to date a white woman. That’s not what is happening with Camille & Thomas. It’s not about colour or hue. It’s the fact that she’s questioning his blackness!!! It’s like she’s saying he should have been adopted by black people in the hood. Would that make him more black? Would that make him more acceptable?
@ so if that’s what she wants or prefers that fine. But don’t complain about it continuously when you are not helping him with it especially if it is a trigger. If she is helping him and he is not listening or trying then fine but here she is not helping, yet complaining. What is swag? Give him some pointers
Sometimes women become reluctant to put themselves out there when men don’t take the lead. Emem acts like she’s falling back because she’s not feeling wanted, by Ekechi.
Camille is very articulate and appears to be capable of expressing herself like a grown adult. So as opposed to constantly using the phrase “swagger” it would probably be more mature to use words like confident, assertive, style and flare, culturally competent, etc.
Camille does not like him it doesn't matter what he does she doesn't like him he's too soft for her so she's coming out with all angles anything it's kind of making her look bad
Nothing & I mean Nothing is feminine about Emen….she has to dial it down with the homie behavior…..Ike is Fake & Narcissistic so it may not be easy to see that she is one of the bros….but Emen isn’t what is considered to be “sexy or feminine”….I feel very bad for her because she wants to be married and she isn’t going to have a chance w/Ike so she doesn’t get to experience this experiment
In the U.S. we call people "oreos" too. But as an adult your suppose to outgrown that ignorant mindset. Black people are not a monolith. Camille has a narrowed mind on what Blackness is.
Why is there an argument about someone's preference. I think some folk on the panel are triggered. If she wants someone with a little more urban flavor, so be it. I agree none of these folk would be on the show if what they were doing or use too was working for them. And yes, there are interracial, biracial people who see themselves as only black- just like there are biracial/interracial people who do not see themselves as black. Just because a person's skin tone is darker does not mean that person is not biracial either. I agree, Camille prefers browner skin folk and there is nothing wrong with that but she should put her husband down for that.
I’m not sure why we’re comparing Karla’s situation to David’s. I understand they’re both not in ideal situations, however we want leaders in our marriage right? So if a man looks like he’s down bad versus a woman, why is that the same thing? I mean we talk about double standards all the time right? And although I don’t necessarily agree with Karla’s situation it sounded like she could move into a house if it didn’t work out with one versus David still just living with his parents in the basement that looks terrible. This is not a situation like Nick from LIB where he was in a nice looking basement and then soon after the show he got his own place I don’t believe it.
If you want to date someone who is Ghanaian born in Britain as opposed to someone who is Ghanaian born in Ghana, you are not questioning how Ghanaian they are. Yes they carry a different energy which I get as a Ghanaian born in the UK but why does that give you the right to question how Ghanaian I am if we were dating? That’s the difference! Just because I’m born in the UK does that make me less Ghanaian? Because I may not wear kente or listen to Afrobeats (which I do) but does that make me less Ghanaian?
NO but there will be markers someone will question the Ghanaian ness for themselves...inadvertedly if a Ghanaian woman wants a more Ghanaian man..i.e. cultural markers, history, knowledge, language, ideologies...in some way she is questioning my ghanaian-ness.
Iketxhi shouldn't be looking for looks. When you come on these shows looks should be on the bottom of his list. He left Houston to go to Chicago for the show. So he should be more serious.
