It's not like people are grasping at straws, the idea is being perpetrated by someone and in this case it was mainly the artist themselves. I don't know for sure if Reed took any substances more than I know if you have, but it's not like the 'myth' of this drugged out rock star came out of nowhere.

Knowing the Moe Tucker´s statements who was an everlasting friend and listening other closing people´s sentences who really knew Lou we can accept that he was on amphetamines during a short period of life in the 60s. The rest of his life is as similar as an average Pop Rock musician.

Lou "price" question was so obviously aimed at his addictions. Lou was right to avoid this level of conversation with that interviewer.
Reed´s addictions are a myth.
