Hi, friends! Hope you enjoy the video! I'd love to hear from you in the comments if you have more tips for writing vivid character descriptions or maybe a favorite passage from a book where an author describes a character.

Most helpful tips to make powerful statements salient to the character him/herself by describing a seemingly trivial characteristic poinient to the personality. Not trivial at all. You are so right about avoiding the 'police report description'. Pooh Bear falling asleep....well chosen. Thank you Nicole for exploring this. Good food for thought to add more power to describing characters in my own writing.

Ooo, those are some really good tips. Especially about how the character traits affect them (like, as you said, if a character is tall, is he comfortable with that?). I definitely to keep that in mind! Amazing work on this video!!!! :)) Love it!!!

Thanks so much! So glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I think it makes the description more memorable for the reader when you explore how the color of a character's hair, their height, etc., affects their personality.

Instead of focusing on his blind spots, try focusing on his strengths, and absorb them.

    F. Scott spent most of his time describing men. Just saying.
