    Is this for grounding (earth)?

I think its just souldering for any connection. I believe the powder is a mix of lead and thermite, which burns hot enough to melt metal.

This is Exothermite Welding or Thermite Welding. Railroads use it for bonding joints.

It looks like a good way to bond your earth rods to the down tape but what are you supposed to do a few years later when the earth readings have gone up due to settling and corrosion?? You cant screw on another four foot rod and get extra depth or undo the earth clamp and extend the copper tape out eight feet for putting more rods in,,, I'm pretty sure it won't be up to CE or British standards

This is meant as a grounding system for pool applications. The rod is located on the service.

So do you even bother to get a reading of 10 ohms and less?? "Per earth"? So you end up with an earth pit/point that actually works and will do it's job when needed, be it a lightning strike or someone drops a TV or toaster into the pool??or am I right in thinking that this earthing point/pit is just more smoke and mirrors or money for old rope?? And like I've come across over the years where a company that often doesn't even have the trained L,C engineers and licence to provide a "working" earth and the certification needed for insurance purposes?? If like you said it's connected to the "services"I assume it's only there for show and zeros on the final bill as the earthing will be looked after by the electric company and their earthing system 🤔??,, I'd be surprised if you even bother to get a reading from the earth and if yea I I bet that the go-to fix for getting the reading down will be a load of rock salt and not bentonite??,, That's my point,, with this system it looks fancy and impressive but not the best way to achieve a working and Safe earthing system 🤔😁,,smoke and mirrors!!! Literally 🤣🤣

Помню в моём детстве отец давал мне шашки из подобного порошка. Я их крошил и кидал в костёр. Или целиком сжигал. Поджигал только охотничьими спичками.
