Thank you for this great video. Can you help me with something? I will get a new server soon and I plan on putting XCP-NG on it but I was wondering how does XCP-NG work with UPSs? I have APC Smart UPS (Back-UPS RS 900G) and it is connected by USB cable to physical Linux server acting as a master with APC UPS Daemon running and other servers are connected to this master one as slaves and they get informed when main power is out and UPS is running from the batteries so they can start graceful shutdown. I wish to connect XCP-NG as a slave to that master Linux server so it will also get power status information and when main power is out it will initiate graceful shutdown of VMs and after all VMs are down it will shutdown it self. Or, if this is not possible (XCP-NG don't support APC UPS or whatever reason) can I resolve this problem by connecting VMs as slaves to master Linux server? They will gracefully shutdown them self like other server do, but then XCP-NG server will continue running and it will abruptly shut down when the batteries in the UPS run out... P.S. Bonus question: Do you know how to setup UPS APC and daemon so that server knows when main power is restored? Now it doesn't know this because server thinks that main power never went out because UPS keeps generating voltage even when all server are powered off so their PSUs can't detect power outage and power returns... Only if UPS batteries runs out and UPS shuts down then when power comes back UPS and all servers will automatically power up. Sorry for my bad English, I hope you will understand me.
Are there any XCP-NG Guest Utilities for Windows server 2000 OS? I am currently running a series of tests on retro Windows Operating Systems and would reaquire the guest utilities for Windows Server 2000.
I sadly gave up on XCP-NG late last year as I was no longer able to create new VMs. I tried installs on other servers and ended up with the same ata2 exception Emask ... action 0x6 frozen error during the VM boot. Proxmox and ESXi ran fine on the boxes. Ended up going back to ESXi.
This is something I always had doubts but am unable to find anywhere: is it possible to have Xen with both a linux distro + windows installed at the same time nowadays? Last time I read about xen it said you could only have one OS type at a time due incompatible kernels; did this change or is it still the same?
Hey there! LOVE you videos and tutorials! One of the best! I am new to xcp-ng so forgive the noob factor. Question - I know this video is a year old and while following your instructions I don't see the 'Windows Update Tools' in the advanced seciton of the VM. Did they remove it with the latest update? Any work arounds? Let me know. Thx!
@@LAWRENCESYSTEMS I think I got confused - I stumbled upon Xcp center - and as you mention in your other video, that’s not really maintained, xen orchestra is the way to go

Really enjoy these Quick Hit but with All The Needed Depth and Detail videos that you are getting out here lately. Lots of help!! Thanks Tom!!
Tom, thank you for this. I have scratched my head more than once trying to figure our why the resolution was locked. Now I know! Thanks!
I give XCP-NG credit, it being the only Hypervisor to as advertised pass through an iGPU with out of the box success.
Thanks Tom! This tutorial let me rectify my issues!
Thanks for this video! I needed to hear this sir.
xe-guest-utilities is no longer in the repositories for 22.04

interesting - why does uefi lock the resolution in windows?

XCP-NG is a Type 1 hypervisor so it's the only OS.
@@LAWRENCESYSTEMS I mean the virtual machines, actually.
Can I install xen and build one windows vm and a linux vm at the same time?
@@GuardianHalberd Yes
awesome, thanks

It's still there under advanced.
Tha name changed to "Manage Citrix PV drivers via Windows Update" I think
Is xpc still under active maintenance? I recently ended up somewhere with last update from 2020
I don't know what XPC is but XCP-NG is a very active project.

Thanks a lot for this AMAZING video !!! can you please do a video on PCI pass through ?
Thanks.
Strange that xcpng can’t shut down via bios hook where it does not need guest agent
"All the testing by Citrix QA Team" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
