Replacing fire alarm pull stations in a school
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 13 апр 2021
- These pull stations Were replaced because the contacts inside would not close when the pull station was activated therefore the alarms would not go off we discovered this issue when testing the school’s system this year which is an EST Quickstart QS4 this video is for entertainment purposes only and not a tutorial.
Check out the description it may answer your questions
@@safetysecurityfirealarms9971 probably trash em. They have broken switches. They are useless unless someone puts a new switch in them
@@theblueexitsign8249 yeah I think I threw them on the floor in the van they will probably end up going in the garbage I don’t want them
Maybe put them up on eBay for parts? I know that there’s a bit of a demand for those old pulls
@@HenBasketFireAlarms we cleaned out the van a couple days ago they might’ve got trashed
What's your favorite alarm?
I love how the Administration for the school was going on the intercom and trying to make weird noises to scare you LOL😂😂😂.
That was not administration no one else was there just the other electricians but it was funny
@Dilan's Creations ya
@@nics-systems-electric To me, it sounded like a Singing duck. LOL 😂😂😂
I also liked that you corrected yourself in slow motion voice
Several alarms have been replaced at my elementary school. It was built in 1989 and has a Simplex 4001 or 4002 system. The alarms on the inside are mainly Simplex 2901-9838s on 4903-9101 strobe plates and the pull stations are primarily Simplex 4251-20s, however, the pull station in the preschool kitchen is a Fire-Lite BG-10 for some reason. And on the outside, alarms are mainly Simplex 2901-9838s. However, inside the portables, there are Radionics D325 pull stations and Federal Signal 450D horns on the outside and in the library, which is a newer building, there’s a System Sensor PA400R along with a Fire-Lite BG-12 and System Sensor i3 smoke detectors that replaced Bosch D263s, there is also a Wheelock AH-24 on the outside. Also, one 9838 was replaced with a 4901-9805, and two 9838s were replaced with a System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance HR, and another 9838 was replaced with a white System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance Low Frequency Sounder. I assume a bunch of 9838s were replaced because they’re electromechanical horns and the sound plate probably cracked finally after 20-30 years of being ran in continuous every month for fire drills. Because those sound plates can crack after years of continuous vibration, that’s something the electronic alarms don’t need to deal with
I ain't reading allat💀

Wawawawawawawawawa
Lol
@Bart Lee lol
I first watched this in school and when the wawawa sound came on, I was laughing my head off and I rewinded it to see it again and my friend heard it through the earbuds! It was soo funny. Great vid as always
I liked one that noise went up when you tried to reset the first pull station
Nice video! I always liked the look of those older Edwards 270-SPOs.
Same.
When I head that nose i could not stop laughing so hard 🤣
Why is this so entertaining
My local YMCA I went to for after school during my childhood had EST 270-SPOs and EST Integritys.
Damn those wire guards around the pulls look sturdy
Ya there pretty good
Great video!! Very entertaining as always!! That was a fun day! Stay safe! ...
Thanks
@@nics-systems-electric in the gym, that is a weird pull station cover.
I can't stop laughing at noise is it a duck talking 🤣
Just a electrician
Hey Pickle this is just like replacing old hard wired Burglar Alarm keypads with new ones!
Epic!! Love the bells
I noticed that the replacement pull stations use wire leads and not terminals. Is it code in your area that pull stations have leads, or were those models just cheaper?
Just cheaper I hate the pigtails I like terminals way better
Makes sense
2:24 LOL!!
5:34 R.I.P. 270-SPO
It lived a good life
x4
Nice Video, that looked like thick wire for only fire alarm!
Interesting that you're replacing pulls with screw terminals with ones that have wire leads. I always thought wire leads were more old-school.
Cool Replace
I love your videos
Cool!
Also 5:33 oof
Always good stuff here...
2:23 What was that lol
That was the electricians trying to scare me
@@nics-systems-electric lol it was a good attempt
2:24 the ducks said they will be taking over the world
@NIC'S - SYSTEMS & ELECTRIC was that one of the guys you work with on the pa system doing that?
Yes
@@nics-systems-electric Omg 😂😂😂😂😂😂
There’s three that annunciator of that for bro😂
What makes this video funny is that someone turned on the PA and did this weird sound effect 😂
Is it just me or is it trying to annoy you
@@dutchwolf2675 just messing around with me because I said I might set the bells off so that was attempting to scare me
lol
I have the old style fire bell sounds of the bell style in my apartment building when they test the fire alarm every year in December on a Wednesday. I usually get t watch them set the fire alarm off because I like to know when it goes off and I don't like it to surprise me because it scares me and I go with the guys who test the fire alarm in my apartment building they give me permission to go with them when they set the fire alarm off for testing.
I may be getting a summer position working on alarms! I’ll definitely try to make videos on it like you do.
Nice
@Dilan's Creations not really sorry
Don't piss off the techs.
@@Twentythree33 oh I won’t. Might not get job though
At the beginning I thought that they were gonna scare you!

Thanks
I really love 270-SPOs. I have one, its broken tho. Wether its in alarm or not, it is always in alarm.
I have 9 of them. They're great pulls.
I hated dealing with these old edwards pulls, the switch always went bad and the old pulls got tossed in the recycle pile
Thumbs up for not using BG12's and Advances
im starting to get fire alarm stuff and i got the wires today 🤗
Cool
My favorite system ever. Except the EST ShitStart SS4 panel though.
The bells sound nice
How do you open the station for Edwars 270A-SPO?
Say as all the other ones with the screwdriver on the top
Im a fire alarm technician. I no longer use "wire nuts". Wagos or lever connectors are much more efficient
That is until they break they are nice and fast but we have had many problems with them failing
Hey did you activate it and then go into speed mode in to speed mode into, somewhere
2:24 wawawawa
2:25 lol
Nice! I assume the panel had ZB-16s in it?
Probably it would also have a card for the SLC loops not sure how many SLC circuits there are The school has all conventional pull stations but all addressable smoke detectors and no more heat detectors now that the school is sprinklered the separate band hall building is all conventional smokes and pulls
Did you get to keep the old alarms?
No
@@nics-systems-electric those old 270SPOs are rare man
@@RyansColoradoRailProductions Not really I probably got 20-30
@@nics-systems-electric the ones with the old style E? Also the ones here might be 270-DPOs but I might be wrong
What do you do with the old ones
Garbage
Why did you replace the 270-SPOs With 270-SPOs Instead of BG-12s
Because it wouldn’t match the rest of the school no point
2:23 Was that Jamie that did that? Because in this video, you were with him. But I am not sure if you were with any other electrician during the production of this video.
Ya it's him
@@nics-systems-electricKnowing how famous he is on your channel, it definitely sounds like something he would do 😂😂😂
Are you a licensed fire alarm tech? How were you able to swap out pull stations in a school? Are you working for a company?
are you going to report him?

2:24 *Rauland Telecenter steady a tone* *makes a ridiculous bell duck or alarm noises while messing around the intercom system* sounds like somebody is goofing around the intercom system I know it might be a bogen multicom 2000 but I wish it was a Rauland Telecenter but still. My goodness
5:33 *some kind of very earlier older Edwards shield siga spo fells and nic guy wins* *FATALITY*
Yes my journeyman was playing with the intercom and the pull stations are not siga models as they are conventional
@@nics-systems-electric i see and understand though but they are not addressable either. i think that e of edwards and Shield logo looks kinda old.
2:25 oh god that's great. was that a duck?
Crazy electrician
@@nics-systems-electric oh, I didn't think A person would make that kind of noise. lol
Did you get to keep the old pulls?
Could have if I wanted to but I didn’t want them
Why not a new EST siga pull station or notifier
Because it’s a conventional loop
2:23 Someone played funny sounds
Who decided to play funny sounds through the intercom system?🔊📢
Electrician
U replaced some bells with low frequency Sounders now u replacing the older SPO pulls with the newer SPO pulls
I’m not sure what you’re talking about about bells I’ve never replaced bells with low frequency sounders these pull stations were replaced because they did not work
Didn’t u remember the video about replacing a a school’s fire alarm system
@@FaFromCastle yes those weren’t low frequency Sounders this is a different school altogether
Bruh
3:45 dannnggg those 439D(?)’s sound good!
Yep that’s exactly what they are
I hate alarms in gyms there so loud because of the echo. Doesn't that scare you?
No
@@nics-systems-electric I would not survive if that alarm came on without me noticing

I was laughing so hard when that weird speaker went off at 2:37
Me too semi cers
5:34 that poor 270-SPO. 😢
It’s garbage so we throw it away
It would be there today but it was defective and failed inspection so it had to be done, at least a newer 270-SPO is taking its spot.
2:24 epepepepepepepepepepep
Why did you only replace the pulls in the Gym?
One in the gym and one in a different part of the school as I said in the description because they were faulty
@@nics-systems-electric Sorry
@@FireAlarm33 no problem

This was your Middle School... Right?
Yes
@@nics-systems-electric Thought so.
Are you an actual electrician?
No not yet just getting credits for school and working under a journeyman like an apprentice
Me too I already did that, but I graduated and going to get paid to do these things.
It might be cheaper to get a new switch instead of pull station
Probably not when we had pull stations laying around it’s an old anyways
