Thanks Matthew! I appreciate the praise, and am definitely proud of how it turned out. Would love to do some more customizations like this in the future, hah!
@@Cloud_Brn I'm now following with notifications so I can find out :) haha Idk if there is still a big market for these things 20 years later, but the udpated (and somewhat retro) look you gave it make for a really beautiful/interesting instrument!
Sweet! I'm actual just listed this one for sale on reverb if you were interested, hah! reverb.com/item/68616181-custom-microkorg-2-0-synthesizer-vocoder
Really nice work! The fact that you can remove the serigraphy on the bezel to paint the whole synth in blackis really interesting. In black with the wooden sides, yout Micro Korg looks really like an old classic. I made a similar transformation with a KORG R3.
Luv it .. only things I would change is having the support pole black along with the bolt heads, flush mount the heads inside the wood, and a blacked out stain.. That would be more aesthetically pleasing for me. Other than that loved the rebuild.
Holy shit, didn't realize they just released that! Super cool, would be awesome to use as a base for this kind of mod for sure, love the idea of lights inside!
I appreciate the support! I definitely need to make some more videos about other projects I've worked on, and improve the videography aspect of it. I'm more confident infront of a bandsaw then editing a video, hah!
@@Cloud_Brn it’s all good, most of the time I buy damaged electrical goods I’m able to fix them, this time I didn’t happen. I might keep an eye out for a new motherboard as this one is all corroded and short circuited
Why thank you! It definitely helps to have access to all the tools, and I guess I've picked up on all the different machines over the years, learning from one project to the next!
I have a question: how did you manage to remove the Edit select knobs? They're very hard in my MicroKorg, and I'm afraid of breaking or scratching something.
Oh god... this comment is two months old, I hope you didn't pull on them too hard like I did lol They have a small hole in the side, inside the hole you'll find a tiny screw that tightens the knob to the pot's "rod". Just look at them carefully and you'll see what I mean. My english is far from perfect but I hope I could still help you.
it would be awesome to use that empty space with all the text on it and maybe wire in some effects pedals and use that space for the pedal controls. Even just a delay and reverb
@@Cloud_Brn cool, yeah it drives me batty when synths have a bunch of unused space on the panel. The Korg MS2000 was terrible for it. Funny because the Micro Korg is basically the same synth.
@@dennisgates-o4yhonestly I have no idea. It might be possible to connect the output jack wires to the input jack wires of the pedal's and mount the electronics and controls in the synth. It would need a secondary power jack to avoid having to figure out how to use the synth's power. If I ever find a deal on a beat up micro I'll probably try it.
Thanks man! Hmm, I'm not sure if the cost would be worth it, hah, even if I only spent 8 hours on it, at 50/hr would be 400 bucks... which is more than the MicroKorg costs new. But if that doesn't scare you away, lets talk more.
Awesome man, well built! Would you take custom requests? If I were to send you my MK? Obviously all payed in advance. Would love to do this myself, I just don’t have all these tools and you do a way better job than I would do.
Whoops, I don't check these comments often. I am very intrigued, however there were a few parts of this build that I'm not totally confident at, and don't want to ruin someone else's instrument. That being said, I would love to continue to work on projects like this and be able to offer my services to others! Let me know if you're pretty serious though.
@@Cloud_Brn Hey man, no worries. ITS NOT TOO LATE! :-D Just add a "follow up" video... - One of the things I was wondering, and had you played it, I would have seen it... (and you MAY even mention it in your video and I missed it) Has it now got FULL SIZE keys!? (This is something that bugged me with the MicroKorg AND Casio CZ101 (which I have... sadly.) BUT... I play it with an external semi weighted 88 key midi "mother" keyboard overkill.)
@@icelandknight hah! Yes I've been wanting to do a follow up, and I wanna show off this cool music barn studio I've set up, so keep an eye out! I kept the same keybed, and I agree, they are pretty small keys.. I'll try and post some more videos =)

While I do understand the sentiment, I through bolted the sides on to help add more strength to the whole keyboard, and I don't mind the bolt heads on the outside. Now I definitely could have recessed them a bit, and now that you point it out, I may have to do that at some point, hah!
If it ain't broke...don't fix it. I have the Platinum special edition and it looks fine. This also defeats the purpose of it being portable. Nice job though.
I love this! Makes it look like an old Moog.

I’d rather buy this than the new crystal one.
Great song also! Apart from the fantastic work
Thanks! Was just a jam recorded from my friends and I, I should've mixed it up a little more with something else, but I like it too!
Amazing how much the tilt transforms the basic design into a classic. Inspirational, where’s my bandsaw?
Exactly what I was thinking too! Total retro classic vibe now!
Perfekt, bravo
I love the transformation! I just ordered a new keybed for Microkorg. Maybe I will do the same while it's apart.
Ahah! Definitely a fun project, and I've had to use electrical cleaner on my keybed a few times, seems like it builds up dust pretty quick
Cool! 🖤
