mit Frédéric Jenniges an der Flöte
In Krapfen's Woods op. 336 is a polka by Johann Strauss II written in 1869
with Frédéric Jenniges and his pipe
Danke lieber Fritz, hier finde ich so oft schöne Musik, das Krapfenwaldl so herrlich von Johanna Strauß und vorgetragen von Andre' Rieu
Andre Thanks to the talented musician
Absolutely wonderful and enjoyable entertainment!! I love this so much! It brings so much joy to my heart! Bravo!!
Who says classical music and comedy don't belong together? Not me. Andre and the orchestra prove that they do.
They look like they are having a lot of fun not snobbish
Wonderfully funny piece of fun by J. Strauss II. Wonderful performance by Andre Rieu & the JSO. Here's a wonderful side note. Most of the players here are still with the orchestra in 2020. Now that's what l call dedication. Thank you Andre. 🎼🎵🎶🎵🎶

vielen Dank für die schöne Zusammenstellung dieser wunderschönen melodien
Uy es molt bo i molt divertit ,que macos que son els concerts de Andre Rieu .9 de desembre del 2012 .
I forgot to mention my thanks to Marcel and others who contributed bird calls and sounds. Thank you guys!
Schade das der Schlussgag fehlt, wo er das "Notenbuch" wegträg, das man nur eine einzige große Note auf zwei Din A4-Blättern sieht...
MMMM
Lovely and so much fun in this interpretation! This is the perfect tempo for the polka this piece presents - just the perfect speed for dancing. However, Andre and his JSO have made it so enjoyable for just listening and watching, it's a toss-up whether adding our dance steps is most enjoyable. Thank you, Andre, the JSO, and Frederic Jennigas!
Beautiful and entertaining. Love the woman's reaction on 1:48 min. :-)

Frederic the best hahaha
The guy with the moustache looks just like John Cleese!
Much better looking
Piccoloflöte spielen ist schön...
😅💖💖💖💖💖💖😅
Frederic knows how to play that pipe?
1997?😊

Listen to Carlos Kleiber then you'll notice what's wrong about this interpretation. I don't like it at all! By far too fast!
It's pretty fast I agree but I like the spin on things here. Kleiber has a more traditional approach which sounds more proper. Rieu's interpretation's not usually my favorite but he's not aiming for the same effect as Kleiber and is appropriate for what he's trying to achieve. A nice demonstration of how versatile classical music is :)
Yidenia Jang For me Rieu sounds completely wrong (no matter what "his approach" might be)¨
Strauss (and "Im Krapfenwald") is "entertaining" music (of the 19th century). Kleiber let it sound light and sparkling. Rieu just tres to entertain with those pieces and completely misses its sense. I don't see here any "versatility". You could say it more drastic: compared to Kleiber Rieu is an amateur! (There is nothing wrong with amateurs making music - but simply don't compare them to real Masters!)
I'm only criticising Rieu's interpretation. (I don't care whether he is successful with it. That's no point of my comment at all)
I'm not saying Rieu is versatile (again, his interpretations don't tend to be my favorite); I'm saying Strauss is. It's why classical music is worth listening to with different performers. If everyone adheres to the same interpretation, then we're no different from the pop music genre. Certainly you can say that you like Kleiber more, or even that Kleiber is more in line with what Strauss intended, but these pieces were written to be adapted to different contexts. Kleiber is performing so that the audience is immersed in the world created through the music. Rieu is telling a joke. I don't find Kleiber's interpretation amusing; it's quaint and charming and very touching, but it's not really that humorous even though it's whimsical. Rieu's made me laugh. A huge part of it was the visual performance too, but the visual aspect wouldn't have worked with Kleiber's interpretation because Kleiber is too thoughtful and that would have clashed with the silly visuals. And I appreciate the difference, because in my mind it is very natural for musicians to automatically replicate Kleiber's pattern (regardless of degree of success, but most interpretations sound more like Kleiber than Rieu), whereas Rieu decided to hell with it and produced something new, albeit unconventional, and it does have the intended effect. I wouldn't introduce this piece to anyone using Rieu's performance, but I still enjoyed it and I think it's still worth experiencing.
Yidenia Jang Thanks for sharing your thoughts. They make sense to me as it is YOUR view of thoes two interpretations.
I still see it very differently. For me Rieu IS a joke (and not is telling a joke)! I even don't know whether the coucou ("Kukuk") player was making the mistake on purpose or not?
Your comparision with pop music may be true. I agree there with Leonard Bernstein who saw no difference between classical and pop music. Bernstein said: "There is only good and bad music!" I may add: "There is only good (Kleiber) and bad (Rieu) interpretation of the same work!
Rieu made you laugh he made me sad because of his speed - by far much too fast and missed all the inherend subtleties! Yes, indeed Kleiber's interpretation (at least for me) made me laugh. It's the right time to hear the coucou and the other birds in the "Krapfenwaldl"! Astonishing performance!
This is horrible! Why not call it the toilet flush polka schmell? New years 1989 with Carlos Kleiber is superb
