Alchemist: 2 levels of Genie warlock for 2 1st level short rest spell slots, and a portable alchemy lab.
What invocations then? You presumably have lower CHA than a normal 'lock, so the E. Blast boosters dont fit well. Eldritch Mind, Mask of many Faces and Fiendish Vigor are all easily flavored as alchemical and seem like fun options
@@PlaneswalkerTARDIS Also Beast speech, Gaze of two minds, and devil's sight can also be flavored as alchemical. Eyes of the rune keeper could be something an alchemist might want in order to find obscure recipes in any other language. Lots of options.
If your DM allows make your Bottle a Homunculus, so it flies around with you inside it.
@@bukharagunboat8466 that is amazing! I love it!
Order of Scribes and War Magic are BY FAR the most slept on Wizard subclasses; I've played both in long-term campaigns and had an absolute blast with them
i think the most underrated wizard is the graviturgist, no one ever talks abt it cuz it came from the same book as the chronurgist
@@daloypolizei and it is not official content
it is as overpowered
@@Razdasoldier it is official content, it’s a setting book but it’s just as oficia as eberron or ravnica or theros
@@daloypolizei it was created by a 3rd party and not Wotc.
@@Razdasoldier no it was created by WOTC
Something simple but powerful you can do now if you wanna be mostly a single class, is to start with 1 level in Storm Sorcerer and then the rest in Tempest Cleric. That gives you the mobility feature and good Concentration from Sorcerer, but it also opens you up to some great lightning spells that the Tempest Cleric wouldn't normally get which are incredibly powerful to combo with Destructive Wrath.
I know you may be asking, "wait... how does the Tempest Cleric get access to those spells if they only have 1 level in Sorcerer?" The answer is the Cartomancer feat, which allows you to (once per day) store any spell from your class's spell list into a card, so long as you have spell slots of the level needed to cast it and the spell has a casting time of 1 action. This means that, even if you have only one level in Sorcerer, as long as you have 3rd-level spell slots, you can store Lightning Bolt in the card and then cast it as a bonus action once per day.
Or even better, once you have a 6th-level spell slot at 11th level, you can store Chain Lightning instead. Use Destructive Wrath on a Chain Lightning and that's a flat 80 damage to four targets.
Your Kensai build is pretty good and worth a try for anyone interested in playing a dedicated ranged character.
I love thief! It’s such a fun utility subclass, and when you combine Fast Hands with having 2 levels in artificer you can do some fun things!
i thought druid of the land was boring but the new one they announced a few weeks ago was insanely interesting to me
I quite liked underdark (get blind fighting style and hide in a poison cloud spell, stinking cloud {maybe pick a race that can hold it's breath} or cloud kill) mixed with a martial. Since level 10 in druid gives immunity to poison, with 'blindsight' we can attack at advantage and they might not be able to do anything. Grapple them and hold them in place inside the cloud. You could see the build as a variant on devilsight+darkness with extra effects. A nice martial class for this is runeknight, since you could perhaps be tall enough to have your head stick out to breath while you hold them.
Sigh College of Valor going underappreciated is just a sign of state of 5e understanding. Still all these years, with the work Treantmonk put in. Genuinely one of the strongest subclasses
"All the wizard subclasses are pretty cracked."
*Looks at Transmutation wizard*
Almost all of them...
If the playtest versions of Truestrike holds we might see a Celestial Warlock adding their Cha bonus to damage twice; once on the weapon damage and once on the Bonus Radiant damage. A multiclassed Paladin could do the same with Smites. There will definitely be builds around that new Cantrip for a Smiter without Extra Attack (which it doesn't stack with). Under DnD 2024 the Paladin gets Smite at first level, so your build may only need that.
I think Wildmagic is underrated. There are several additions to the game that make it into a very viable subclass.
2 levels in evocation makes it a safe class for the party
Feyshard makes it great to use your wildsurge table.
Artificers are hands down my favorite class in DnD. I've played all the subclasses in multiple campaigns.....there's no redemption for Alchemist except for homebrew rules.
Mixing it with warlock for more first level slots can be fine.
@@Razdasoldier still does not solve this class main problems. But yeah. It helps a lot.
Alchemist is such a bizarre subclass, it's one of those "Why would you ever design like this?" Subclasses, it's not situational, it's just gambling
@@katlicks only the free elixirs are random. You can choose to make any that you want for spell slots.
@@Razdasoldier Oh, I had misread and thought it was still random when you burn a spell slot to make one, that's far less bad than I originally understood it to be.
It's still pretty iffy but it's definitely not as bad as I once thought. It's a lot like making delayed spells that anyone can apply, that's kinda neat, it's still weird the free one is random.
Surprised to see fey wanderer, my impression is people generally like that subclass. I was expecting 2014 beastmaster for ranger. Giant poisonous snake is cracked and there's some sick poison harvesting you can do with the feign death ritual and an artificer in your party.
Feel in love with Land druid while making a beekeeper (reflavored Underdark multiclass with Swarmkeeper ranger)
I've been playing with the idea of a tortle swarmkeeper ranger, that has the beehive on the inside of his shell. Combining it with land druid underdark would be fun, since I quite like underdark (get blind fighting style from ranger and hide in a poison cloud spell, stinking cloud or cloud kill) mixed with swarmkeeper. Since level 10 in druid gives immunity to poison, with 'blindsight' we can attack at advantage and they might not be able to do anything. Grapple them and hold them in place inside the cloud. You could see the build as a variant on devilsight+darkness with extra effects. A nice martial class dip for this is runeknight, since you could perhaps be tall enough to have your head stick out to breath while you hold them (and it of course helps in dealing with bigger sizes, but you can do it without rune knight. making the split instead an even 10/10 or 11 druid/9ranger).
Hey! Silly comment but i was wondering if you could make a build around the character voden from gigantic? Its a lil niche but im so obsessed with the character and its vibes eee
I saw a Kensei tank build in tier 3 play. It was great.
tank build? how does that work
@finalfantasy50 it was a finesse dodge build. He used Ac stacking to get his ac up high while the rest of the party stayed back and took out the ranged supports. Final battle was a dragon (Young i think) that he soloed. His ac was high enough to not get hit and it was poison which he was immune to because it was a 10th level one shot.
I know it sounds weird, but valor bard can get medium armor, shield, and hand crossbow: 2 feat taxes (crossbow expert and sharpshooter) are nothing to laugh at, but there is at least one path to power.
For Land Druid, it really saddens me that Land Druid stops getting useful stuffs right after lv 2: even daily dnd guy had to say "flavor build" unlike Knowledge Cleric (which is good class dip for wizard).
For Monk, I kinda expected Death Monk, but that monk can just bonus action dash to middle of the enemies, do scare bomb and come back to friends, so there is at least one useful thing for Death Monk to do for quite a while.
Do you review homebrewed things? I'd like to hear your opinion of two hoembrewed races. Selachian by Stonestrix and Sorek.
Arcane Archer is actually great though.
The sun exisits!!!
Thoughts on undead warlock
Yeeaaah go for the overrated pleaaasseeee i Need them ❤️
nice hair floof.
No hate but how are you offering an Alchemist subclass? They're not part of the SRD?
Alchemists are not underrated. They are overrated.
Alchemists have lots of problems, like:
- they have worse potion options, than 1lv spells options. That's probably the biggest one.
- each potion outside of first one, cost spellslot (and yeah, it scales... but pretty poorly).
- they are expected to make potions as their main feature, meanwhile making and drinking a potion cost both - an action.
- they get potion of healing opotion... while they can just cast cure wounds for more healing (7hp potion and 7,5hp from CW), that cost ONLY ONE ACTION. And:
- they get their 5lv ability, which gives even more healing to cure wounds. Nothing for potions here. But:
- at 9lv they get bonus to their potions, so now it is 19hp total from potion and 14,5 from CW. That is still 2 main actions vs 1 main action. CW wins.
- no shield spell.
- their subclass best spell is flaming sphere - which is cool if you bring servants and cast 5 flaming spheres, for total of 10d6 fire per turn, but thats 3x 3lv spellslots. Not to mention that your DM will not allow this probably.
- 5lv feature gives bonus to ONLY ONE damage (or healing) roll PER spell, which is only once per flaming sphere... oh, wait! RAW it does not even work that way. RAI? Yeah, sure. At least it worked in UA.
- (evey arti issue, but:) their "Enhanced Arcane Focus" does not really work with artificer spells...
So. This class has no effective spells, has trashy features that does not work together, has 0 way to deal reasonable damage and their best features are main class "spell-storing item", "Pipes of Haunting" magic item infusion and main class web spell. That subclass option is just worse than 4elements, SunSoul, beastmaster before Tasha (that subclass was pretty good before tasha anyways, lol) or even Arcane Archer or even Purple knight... ok, Knight is worse.
Thanks for reading my rant. I would love to play alchemist, but it's unplayable. Peace.
I want the overrated video.
