HUGE NEWS! Boeing Starliner In SERIOUS Stuck While SpaceX Starship #5 Surging...Weekly #137
What goes up must come down!
That's the mantra for most space missions, but it seems Starliner is breaking the mold. Yes, the return date for this spacecraft continues to be delayed.
Last month, many were frustrated and disappointed as the launch of Starliner CFT-1 faced continuous delays. Five delays, including three due to helium leaks, are unacceptable for a crewed spacecraft. Despite these issues, NASA and Boeing pushed forward with the mission, and now they're facing the consequences.
HUGE NEWS! Boeing Starliner In SERIOUS Stuck While SpaceX Starship #5 Surging...Weekly #137
In the previous episode, I asked if Starliner could return on June 22. Most of you were correct in saying it couldn't. According to NASA's recent update, Starliner's return schedule has been changed. The notice states: “Teams from NASA and Boeing are now targeting no earlier than 10:10 p.m. EDT Tuesday, June 25, for the undocking of the Starliner spacecraft from the International Space Station.”
HUGE NEWS! Boeing Starliner In SERIOUS Stuck While SpaceX Starship #5 Surging...Weekly #137
Thus, the schedule has been delayed an additional three days compared to the previous plan. NASA explained, "mission teams supporting NASA's Boeing Crew Flight Test continue to review Starliner's data from the completed test objectives." Steve Stich, manager of NASA's Commercial Crew Program, added, "We want to give our teams a little bit more time to look at the data, do some analysis, and make sure we're really ready to come home." Mark Nappi, Vice President of Boeing’s Commercial Crew Program, clarified, “We fully intend to eliminate these common nuisances [the helium leak and thruster issues] for the flight [Starliner-1].”
Once again, we see them struggling with the helium leak problem and propulsion issues.

To be resolved, thank you.
Nappi needs to learn the difference between a "nuisance" and a "serious problem". "My spacesuit is a little tight" is a nuisance. "Five thrusters are malfunctioning due to helium leaks" is a serious problem.
Yeah
Every day that passes means less helium remaining. The leaks have not stopped. Each delay means their safety margin is reduced. Suppose new leaks appear after they depart the station or more thrusters go offline. It isn't only 5 out of 28 thrusters. Each thruster is oriented to provide a specific directional impulse. X, Y, or Z axis. If 3 failed thrusters control the x-axis, only 6 would remain or 30% reduction in x-axis control. By losing that amount, Y and Z axis would also be reduced because if they operate at 80-90% compared to 60% on the other axis, there will be a mismatch. Thus Y and Z can only operate at the level of the failing axis. So, a 30% reduction of one thruster axis requires a 30% reduction of all axis.
@Wolf-hd9ke I agree. Neil Armstrong as I recall was one of two Gemini astronauts who nearly died when a thruster failed ON, putting the craft into a spin so fast that they nearly blacked out. Do we want to see that happen again? Thrusters can fail ON, OFF, or MAYBE. None are good. And they are critical to obtaining and maintaining orientation during re-entry. Would you drive your car if the steering had a mind of its own?
How do they even measure remaining Helium? I suspect the situation will be 'resolved' by the Helium running out such that the craft has to be abandoned. Furthermore, that means it won't be going ANYWHERE, not even leaving the ISS, where it will be a dead duck, blocking an exit port permanently. It will need a tow truck to get rid of it. You can't just send out a couple of space walkers to give it a push. What goes around comes around. An orbit later it will hit the ISS.
Stuck on the ISS like a frog growing out of a guy's head. Doctor asks how long ago this started. Frog says it began as a wart on his ass.
The stress of waiting creates subconscious fears of dangerous consequences relying on a star liner compared to that of SpaceX!
Bob and Doug should be conveying their sentiments on future launches for astronauts safety and comfort!
👍😎💯🇨🇦
♥️♥️♥️
Subconsious? Nope, not allowed to be expressed!
👍that is not allowed to show feelings just like armed forces!
Oppressed to be suppressed!
😎💯🇨🇦👍
Everyone knows whilst trying to perfect a space craft you must expect snags along the way however the safety of the astronauts is paramount and so I would say allowing starliner to return to earth unmanned will provide important developmental information without putting the astronauts safety at risk.this is a win win scenario for everyone.
😂😂😂 The funniest thing about this will be Starliner Astronaunts wearing Starliner suits, coming back on a Space X Dragon.
That would really be a thing to see
@@savagesarethebest7251 😂😂😂 Talk about Burn…
😂😂😂
In a SpaceX Suit. Are Starliner space Suits compatible with SpaceX technology?
How dare they not wear East German border guard boots!
NASA don’t let Boeing bring your reputation down with theirs. 😢
Too late for that.
Send it back autonomously.
Has the leaks slowed because supply pressure is lower?
I got a bad feeling about this
You are out of date as the return of Starliner has now been delayed indefinitely. The return scheduled for the 26th has been canceled. Spacex should be used to return the astronauts for the sake of the astronauts.
I really hope those two don't try to save Boeing's (already useless) reputation with their lives! 🙏
None of this matters right now. The only thing that matters is the safe return of the astronauts.
Small leaks tend to burst if pressures change. Just a thought.
Hearing all of these flat-toned remarks from Boeing and NASA is hauntingly similar to the build-up of the loss of 14 astronauts.
Exactly what I was thinking. Boeing has shown all they care about is CEOs getting paid, and well, we know who owns the politicians, sonI would not be the least bit surprised if NASA goes ahead and greenlights their return even if they aren’t certain they will survive.
Why don’t Boeing pay SpaceX to send a rescue dragon capsule ? And have their module autonomously landed without risk to human fatalities ? Even 10% failure risk is too much to risk it with untested starliner ?
US Government needs multiple vendors.
@@rogerramjet2476 agree but not paper modules that suffer with more problems than me in my 30s
There is already a Dragon capsule docked up there :)
@@1974greymalkin is that of the other crew? Or for emerigency ?
How many hundreds of millions did The American tax payer pay Boeing to bridge the commercial crew gap stating that the extra funds would allow Boeing to launch commercial crews much earlier then SpaceX would be able to do with their Falcon nine and Dragon capsule. So does Boeing have to give that money back to the tax payer since they obviously didn’t meet that obligation?
Everything is fine. The astronauts have copies of Hitchhiker's Guide to Boeing.
Seems that there is a light show on re-entry in the works. Hope those astronauts don’t lose their lives due to money.
It's a long shot, but I'd love it if Dragon came to the rescue and the government terminated all Boeing contracts. I don't want my tax dollars going to that corrupt, inept company...
Lets hope they get the astronauts back to earth safe and sound. Nothing else matters.
While it’s true that the most important thing is crew safety, it is not true that nothing else matters. Boeing has shown itself to be incompetent and serious revision of NASAs mid-term plans are required. It’s time to stop shuffling deck chairs on the deck of the titanic and start lowering the lifeboats.
"In serious stuck"?!? What language is that? You sound like someone perfectly qualified to work at Boeing.
Written by an AI BOT!
While the voice sounds genuine, its actually an AI bot language model. There’s services on the internet where content creators pay a subscription fee and can use any of the AI bot which were trained by real humans to sound like that human, but can read scripts. So when you hear mistakes like this it means there was an error in the script. Personally Im not against creators using such AI voices as long as g as the content is good, which this channel is ok. Its the fake science channels that use these voices that anger me, because they steal content from other creators and are effectively content farms. Great SpaceX is not a content farm as it doesn’t pump out 10 videos a day of various non-factual crap. The anger people have against AI is understandable but also stupid, because its not going anywhere. Roko’s basilisk man, you should let it know your ok with it, lol.
NASA stated a potential return won’t come until after July 2. According to NASA, the crew is not pressed for time to leave the station since there are “plenty of supplies in orbit” and the station’s schedule is “relatively open through mid-August.”
I can see them in meetings now, wringing their hands together wondering how they're going to get the crew back now without looking worse than they already do.
"The helium leaks have gone down." Is that the same as saying that all the helium is gone?
Could it be to less pressure as the helium dissipates?
If SpaceX had only one of these problems when it first went to space with astronuts then SpaceX would have been abandoned from continuing any further. It seems that Boeing is favored rather than SpaceX.
That's so obvious
Don’t use that thing to fly people back home is unfit for human use.
Yeah
This is the Space version of the Titan-OceanGate!!!!!!
I wonder how much Boeing is paying Stich to keep simping for a failed capsule...stop screwing around and send the crew dragon up there and let the Starliner either come back unmanned or just let it burn up
1970's engineering being stretched beyond it's capabilities.
70's engineering was much better than what they are doing now
Well the original idea was to have a primary system (thought to be Boeing) and a backup (chosen to be SpaceX), now we all know how that turned out..
Thank goodness for the backup choice !
I also look forward to seeing Dreamchaser !
Imagine if dreamchaser had gotten the funding. As is they aren't that far behind.
Can new bigger starship go to moon in single trip without refueling on orbit?
Becase 10x refueling is very ridiculous
🤔🤔🤔
It can go without refueling. It couldn't bring the mission payload with it though.
@@slartybarfastb3648 yeahh that is why we need new kind of fuel
@@kusumayogi7956 There aren't many other options. Nuclear propulsion would really be the only known alternative to the current fuels. It only works well after reaching orbit. Reactors and radioactive fuels are extremely heavy. Mishaps during launch could be fairly bad (though not as bad as the imagination would assume).
Nuclear propulsion is good for long duration burns, but inefficient for immediate, high acceleration like achieving exit velocity. Chemical rockets are the only currently useful option.
@@slartybarfastb3648 i believe the secret for interstellar journey is in hydro carbon bound. We need inventing new kind of gasoline
🤨🤨🤨 The Most expensive build by the Goverment.. by the Lowest Bidder…. Space X does it better.
Yeah
How much did Starliner cost? And it still not working right. NASA has a problem of not listening when there are problems.
Luckily, that is fixed contrast
They need to send it back empty and have space x bring them back. If they try with astronauts and something goes wrong they should go prison
Agree 👍
Welp, the engineers tried to warn them. Now, they may have to rely on their rival to save their rears. That's what happens when you rush things that shouldn't be rushed.
Very confusing comments: some complain about taking too long a time to accomplish anything, then someone else comes along and cautions " mustn't rush it".
Yea, you couldn't pay me to get back on that pos. SPACEX please save these astronauts. DO NOT GET BACK ON STARLINER. It will kill you.
Yeah
What if the astronauts refuse to board the thing?
Im sure they would refuse to board the boeing starliner if its got faults.
No sane Astronaut would refuse to board SpaceX dragon as its by far the best & most advanced space system in human history
not just the launchers but Dragon Capsule itself is like 100 years ahead of apollo.
I wouldn't get on ANYTHING Boeing has ever made at this point
Here was me thinking it was unreliable, turns out it is just a bit quirky.
Bit of CRC on the points and clean the plugs and it should be good.
Another W Video ❤🎉
Thanks for your comment. Keep following and discussing on our channel ☺️
Boeing shouldn’t be allowed in the space market after all the trouble with their airplanes
Right👍
Face up to it, Boeing. You have built the Studebaker of the Space Race! It was expensive and pretty, but ultimately, a piece of junk.
😐😐😐
Isn't really even very pretty. At launch it looks like a particular male organ, which is appropriate after what it's done to the American taxpayers.
It should be renamed to the StarLeaker!
Yet again you guys pump out old news and poorly titled video.. stop rushing out videos as your quality is dropping rapidly
Same thought. They want their watch hours. They suck
Those two astronauts are the bravest to travel in a Boeing, whatever it may be.😂
Remember Komarov. The same political pushing is occurring with Starliner as happened with Komarov's fatal flight. This time by the US, not the Russians. Will we ever learn?
IMO the astronauts should remain on the ISS and Starliner should attempt to return to earth unmanned. It appears that the helium leaks and parachute issues remain unresolved. The astronauts can be brought back on a special Dragon mission.
A good suggestion indeed !
This is the best choice right now
No way I fly back on that piece of shit
I would rather be in a 1970s version of a Russian soyus capsule than use that new piece of garbage from Boeing.
They really have no timeline as to when Starliner will be coming home. More than likely, Starliner will return without the astronauts on board. Dragon will be used as a rescue mission.
I would rather take my chances with starship 5.
Thanks for update...
We all loose without a second private vendor. Boeing will get it done but I would not be in favor or paying Boeing another nickel. It is maybe time to invest in another vendor. There are others.
Blue Origin produces 2 working engines in 4 years. -> "Don't rush us!"
SpaceX produces 1 engine per day. -> "Meh! We really need to ramp up things!"
Boeing is going down hill fast. I am wondering if there dei is in full swing. No! Space X needs to go get them.
I really hopes that they remembered to put bolts in the hatch on the starliner so it doesn't fly away during the reentry.. 🙄
There are many factors to make a successful re-entry
Ask China to save the Astronauts. They know how to do it.
Dragon - I don't think anyone wants to risk going back on Starliner - or at the very least they will delay until Dragon is ready in case they need to be rescued. I would not have gone up on Starliner - and that's the easy part. Coming down...
5 minutes of new info, and 50 minutes of recycled old daily updates.
That's why I'm unsubbing from this channel.
Never sub to a digital narrator
How is it SpaceX has no issues, might suggest if Boeing can't get startliner down they loop the 737 Max team, they have no problem keeping things in the air...
How is it some startup company like SpaceX simply just steps into the game and gets things work/completed as expected without issues...?
"Ablative" means that something is designed to be sacrificial - in this case, that it would burn away at some rate, protecting what is underneath. It doesn't make sense to me that an "ablative" heat shield layer would be under the tiles, which are not ablative. If it was truly an ablative layer, it should be on top of the tiles. Being under the tiles, this new layer sounds a lot more like an additional insulating layer to reduce the temperature of the Starship skin. FYI - My background is not specifically in spacecraft design. I was a Strategic Weapons Officer on US Trident submarines and am a life-long sailor. Boats used to use an "ablative" hull coating under the waterline that would protect the hull from marine life damage by slowly wearing away - hence the term "ablative".
I like the arms also I like the deck landing but I think if you are using the deck landing I'm wondering if there could be set of arms that would catch the craft if it tries to tip over.
Press: How did you detect the helium leaks?
NASA: We first grew suspicious when the astronauts sounded like munchkins from the Wizard of Oz.
Rip Star liner
Of course, best wishes to the crew and shame on Boeing for putting two lives at risk...
The re-entry is extremely dangerous, because you don't get Second chance and there isn't any bail out.
The thrusters cannot be deemed as recovered until they have disconnected the module from the ISS and have initiated a full Thruster burn on all thrusters...
June 25th. What year?
Boeing: We need another 10B to bring SL back to earth - our bad.
Oh and why does Starliner look like it's built out of redwood bark and paper-mache?
Fake titles will only work so long and then you loose all credibility and subs... Now on my do not click list!!!
Yes. I love the design
Glad you like it!
If the situation were the other way around, NASA would have canceled the Starship mission months ago, but if they had landed them on the space station anyway, they would have sent Boeing on a rescue mission days ago. If NASA doesn't want to play with the astronauts' lives, it will eventually send a Starship to retrieve both astronauts.
😂😂😂
Will it be pushed back until it burns up on reentry 35 years from now after its abandoned?
I doubt that the Star liner will make it back earth with out blowing up. It's a piece of junk and shouldn't of been allowed to even blast off.
They are also having a problem with the space suits.
10 minutes of information crammed into 55 minutes.🙂🙂
😂where are those 10 minutes please?
Am I the only one who noticed the crack behind the control panel?
Space X rocks
👍👍👍
Since, saving face is more important than saving lives… for NASA & Boeing…
Best case scenario is waiting until the last minute and then fly home on Crew Dragon… and pretend no one notices anything 😂
It is not possible to repair these leaks, in space… and no knowing what valves will malfunction when or next…😂
Wow, as a pilot, all this crap would just Fill me with confidence about my ship…
The appearance of V2 depends on how V1 works landing. They won't risk it until they can land safely on a tower. Or at least run out of V1 ships.
Yeah
"The thrusters have recovered" How? Send that craft back empty .Just in case they unrecover.
☹️☹️☹️
Hell with that I'll walk home LMAO
Try to fill the gaps in the tiles on the top of the nose of the spaceship to see what happened.
The sad thing is, the name Boeing used to stand for innovation and excellence, nowadays, not so much. I just hope present and future astronauts come back safe using this equipment.
They should make use of the helium leaks by inflating the congratulations balloons for SpaceX on their accomplishments. 😂😂😂
6:28 Dragon will best starliner
✔️ done
Done😂
Boeing & NASA certainly are prioritizing their reputations AHEAD of astronaut safety and the ISS mission goals. Clearly, NASA and Boeing delayed the postponement announcement until Friday late (where bad news headlines go to die) so that the bad news of the delay would not overlap with the Boeing CEO's disastrous appearance before Congress. Though Boeing may no longer know how to build good spacecraft or commercial airliners, it certainly has a good PR department! Yay!!!
Boeing PR department is the hardest working part of Boeing…
@@peterclarke3020
Very true! They have to be. When are they going to receive their well-deserved medals from Putin?
Having these astronauts fly home on Starliner is nothing short of grossly irresponsible. it is just not worth the risk of human life. Starliner should just be jettisoned in the deep space.
Why do you republish the same content with misleading titles. It’s a waste of time for regular viewers to have to scan through and search for new info. I guess you want your watch hours more than credibility
That’s DEI results for you. Merit based work yields the most efficient and effective results. That’s why Space-X is coming to the rescue
Well Boing is having issues with airplanes, with whistleblowers dying, and well spacecraft. I wonder what’s next.
Hopefully not a bad reentry! Because then both Boeing and NASA will have to face Congress. They will shut down all space missions! Many already want to spend the money elsewhere.
Good thing we’re paying Boeing so much.
Good things will be come
Grateful with God!
🙏🏾🙏🏾💫💫
👍👍👍
Space x dragon will launch 1st guarantee cuz that other test vehicle starliner has had nothing but problems since it's start and I'm sure more will arise
This was the first crewed mission of Starliner and will be the last crewed mission of Starliner. They will go with what works best for them Dragon. If they want to continue with Starliner it will have to be cargo missions and they will have to be flawless, in order to even consider sending back with a crew. Anything shot of this will be irresponsible.
Yeah, the next one should be the cargo
Question to you techies. Can the starliner come back unmanned now? I know its previous test went up unmanned. The optics of this looks really bad in my opinion. Who thinks that the crew will return via a dragon?
hows the bed and breakfast holding up???
The wise approach is to let the starliner return UNMANNED and rescue the astronauts with SpaceX . If the astronauts get injured or worse, the consequences are severe.
Do not fly if the least doubt exists.
Put Strainer on a course the moon and land it there.
The ‘Student project Starliner’ suffers yet another mishap.. /s
Hilarious that a system given close to half the money is saving Boeing. It's time to move on from the old school space infrastructure companies. Straight throwing money into a pit of fire at this point
If it’s Boing, It ain’t Going
New idiom😜
Boeing should have been shut down years ago
