- As a stylist, I have a particular affinity for well-designed things-that is, iconic items that stand the test of time. To me, Cartier is a paragon of this idea. On this episode, I walk you through some of the jewelry house’s most emblematic pieces.
I start with a Cartier watch I myself wear every single day: an all-black vintage Cartier Must from the 1970s. I then discuss the Tank, Cartier’s most renowned watch, which was influenced by World War I combat machinery as well as the De Stijl Dutch art movement founded in 1917. I also discuss the famous wearers of the Tank, who include Truman Capote, Duke Ellington, Andy Warhol, Rudolph Valentino, Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana, Muhammad Ali, Patti Smith, Jon Hamm, and Kim Kardashian.
After briefly mentioning the Tank Française, which debuted in 1996, I finish by discussing Cartier’s Nouvelle Vague jewelry collection, which came out while I was an assistant for Tonne Goodman at Vogue. I have my own piece from the collection: a white gold beaded bracelet encrusted with small diamonds. I love how incredibly understated it is. To me, that idea really encapsulates Cartier: It’s a brand whose simple, elegant approach has made its pieces timeless.

Welcome back!!!
🥰🥰🥰
We missed you!
❤️❤️❤️
I got my Cartier tank for my 21st birthday from my parents. I get tired of most design and am very susceptible to wanting something new, but 5 years later I still wear the watch every day and am still in awe of the simplicity and elegance of the design. It’s solid, it’s sexy and it communicates to the world that you appreciate good design. It also strikes a delicate balance of being a status symbol without being ostentatious or showy
I've missed you, Ms. Young!!!!!!
I could watch these types of videos-the history of style and fashion design, presented by you-for hours! I think a streaming platform should jump on this idea and produce an awesome, in-depth show with you as the host. ❤
🥰
I recently got mine instead of an engagement ring! Had been lusting over it for a decade! Love the history lesson! Would love a video on engagement rings as well. It seems like I’m North America the blingier the better, but in Europe normally they’re very subtle. My moms was a band with a stone smaller than the band width.
I was just looking up vintage Tank Francaise watches this morning. I’m going to take this as a sign to invest in one haha.
So happy you’re back! Love the show; always fun and learn a lot!
I also love how they don't attract scary ppl coz its not flashy, I basically fight for my life everytime I go out with something blingy. But don't get it twisted boo!!! its mf Cartier
Missed your videos! I appreciate your knowledge on topics and bring us along for the ride through fashion history. Bravo💜

Yay she's back! So excited to see your future content Kate!
Ever since my first copy of Vogue and seeing a Cartier Tank in the pages - I have been in love with them. Always on the lookout for a vintage one to add to my collection. Really enjoyed this Kate 💚
Loved this! I have a Cartier Tank watch and I love it; I don't actually wear it much, but I really should do. An absolute classic!
It is soo soo good to have you back. Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge about Cartier, it is my favorite brand. My dad used to wear it when I was a little girl and it is very sentimental to me. I am looking forward to learn more from you. xo
Yah, your back, I always look forward watching your videos, thanks for sharing your knowledge and your beautiful spirit.
Very happy to see one of your videos again, I loved all the watches, my favorite was Louis Cartier's because of its resemblance to the tank🤩❤️

I have been waiting for this video for so long
Thanks for this! Love your new look!
You’re so exquisitely knowledgeable please give us more!!
I really love your videos🥰 ,short and efficient. I think it is so intresting to know the history behind the luxuary items that I have or that I'm willing to buy !! People don't understand that when you buy a luxuary item like cartier , you are buying history, a story , a peace of art , a perfection! Cartier is more than a watch!!
Professor of Chic, welcome back! Obsessed with the bangs.
So happy you're back. I really missed your content!
Yay! U r back! I kept refreshing your channel to see you posted anything :)

Yay welcome back Kate!!!
Really wish this video was longer. I loooove it
Cartier should pay you a lot of money for this video because now I want a Cartier Tank watch and I’m sure I’m not the only one
🥰🥰🥰
Worth the wait. Thank you
Absolutely Brilliant
Cheers
Great video. Like what you said about what importance objects have, as sometimes people assume it is superficial to like beautiful things, but this video for me encapsulates why that is not the case.
Finally you are back loooove it
So happy to see you back again Kate 💘💘💘💘
🥰
Amazing video!!!
This video is incredible
I have watched hours of videos re the Cartier Tank-some of them are Ok, some really good, one or two excellent; but yours just made first chair. The way you effortlessly shared Tank information along with stories of people, places and things related to the Tank, helped me better understand "the why" regarding this special piece.
Loved this vid and love this brand.
We missed you!!
Welcome back
This is such an informative channel! Thank you: )
I miss you so much, thank you for coming back😭
YAYYYYYY! HELLO FASHION IS BACK!!! SO HAPPY, I MISSED YOU!!!
I haven't a clue who Kate Young is but stumbled upon this and loved it.. I have no doubt that she is a very experienced stylist judging by the video because her knowledge shines so bright.
She’s back!!
Always learn so much from you! Welcome back! :)
🤍
Wow, she's so knowledgeable and interesting . I really enjoyed this on the Cartier watch.❤
So glad you're back! I wear one of my two Cartier watches every single day; one from my 16th birthday and one from...um...a later birthday. For future episodes, *please* include clothing credits!
You bring the substance and personal passion that I crave from fashion-related videos, yet rarely (if ever) encounter...your perspective is respectfully informed by history--yet refreshingly of-the-moment. It'd be so wonderful if you made a longer/more in-depth film on whatever most inspires you...for me, as a viewer (and fellow fashion head), the subject of any given video is secondary to your palpable enthusiasm for beautiful design in general. Read us the phone book, as they say (and given that I recently saw a 1970s-era New York phone book with a cover designed by Peter Max, you can't tell me that ain't fashion 🙃). Either way, welcome back, and please do keep makin' these! 🖤🕊💫
Thank you!
Love the video as always! Kinda makes sense that pearls were wroth more than diamonds back in the day, before De Beers artificially gouged diamond supplies and created the most successful marketing campaign for diamonds of all time!
Fabulous!
What an engaging storyteller!
I missed you Kate!! I always look forward to learning something new from your videos, you put so much effort into them and you are such a professional.
