one time I went to a Hurricane Harbor (swim park in texas) when I was at least younger than 13 I think. In the lazy river that goes around the whole inner perimeter of the swim park I remember I got into a really bad spot where there were so many people on tubes that I accidentally went under and couldn't surface again because the waterway was PACKED with tubes. I'll never forget the feeling of really really panicking in my mind about dying even as a strong swimmer. I don't even remember how I managed to get back up again but that is a core memory of mine even now and I've had a fear of drowning since. I still go swimming often, it's just when a lot of tubes are involved in small spaces I nope out
Same thing happened to me. I was like 7 and luckily was tall enough in the lazy river to reach the bottom so I just stood up as hard as I could and pushed some peoples tubes up/away with the force and they looked so angry at me lol. like bro sorry I was dying 😂

I remember a lady saving my life at a wave pool. It was so scary.
As a open water Navy Search and Rescue Swimming, swimming pools don’t scare me. I jumped out of helicopters into the ocean with shark, barracudas, and other dangerous sea life. I’m also a scuba diver and my deepest dive was 143ft. I’ve dove the dam wall at Lake Travis near Austin TX, it was pitch black, that we put glow sticks on our tanks, and had 2 dive lights with us. I saw a catfish that was big as a Volkswagen bug.

Number 1 and number 2 terrify me just watching it. I won't even go on a balcony that's 4 stories or higher with my own family. The thought of that or just thinking of setting a foot in these pools (hell even the roof) is enough to almost paralyze me with fear. I have no idea why, I wasn't really scared of heights as a child, but now, if I even see someone in a skyscraper with floor to ceiling windows, I become paralyzed with terror.
Been staying in Singapore for 3 years and been to the MBS pool several times. First of all, there are no extreme weather conditions here. Second, if there were storms, they would shut down the pool before it gets serious. Third, there's a platform about 2m below the edge. So unless you're actively trying to jump down, there's no way you would fall off. And even then you'd have to be quick so no one keeps you from doing it. Ridiculous this is on the list and makes me wonder how exaggerated the "dangers" of the other pools were.

❓ I don't know why they call it the "pool of death". It's surrounded by soft, comfortable volcanic rock, and everyone knows that huge ocean waves can't hurt you, because they carry no energy with them. What's the worst that would happen, a huge wave slams you into the comfortable, soft, jagged rocks, which is like laying down in a comfy feather bed.... 😏👍

I remember this one pool at a campground in Utah. It was weird. Middle of nowhere. Black tile. The water looked too freaky to swim. This was twenty or so years ago.

The Kauai "Pool of Death" is also known as The Queens Bath. I went there & took on the challenge. If a person uses appropriate caution, it can be a lot of fun. There is another similar place on the north shore near Hanauma Bay. It was called the toilet bowl also the witches brew. I went there several times, loved it. People who did stupid things which resulted in injury & death caused it to be closed off. Kinda sad.

I Remember when i was in 4th grade i newly joined swimming classes, there were 2 coaches So the first one knew i was new and the other coach thought i can swim very well and at that time i was sitting at 6ft water so he pushed me to see if i could swim i was extreamly terrified i coudnt breathe and started shouting so after few minutes he took me out of the pool and then i started crying Like newbies first learn swimming in 4ft so That was the worst day of my time and i hate that coach from bottom of my heart thanks.

Yea he means you shouldn’t dive in it because without being able to see the bottom which could mean you could smash your head on the tiles
The first one
For those who don't know, if you're expecting a wave and the wave is much bigger than you think you can handle by standing still or jumping over, your best bet is to dive head first into it. It massively decreases the amount of surface area hitting the waves and thus makes getting through it easier. Think of it like trying to stab a knife through a block of cheese vs pushing a 2 inch diameter pole through it.
Obviously the amount of people in this case made this pretty much just as dangerous as you had a high chance of headbutting someone somewhere but I figured I'd still say it for occasions where it might be what makes surviving a wave easier.
I mean, deep diving pools are creepy for me but that's also because I can't swim or hold my breath worth a shit XD I'm sure for scuba divers who are accustomed to being submerge in bodies of water dozens or hundreds of feet deep, it's perfectly fine.
For Chongqing...if someone was drowning, what would prevent the people literally right beside them from helping them? XD The pollution and crushing in a panic are the much more problematic ones.
In the ocean I would go underwater, what you say works, but just go underwater and the wave misses you entirely. Especially in the deep end of a pool where you can't stand and dive into the wave, just sink a bit haha
