@@spreadsheetlife I have similar but students scan their card containing QR Code to track their attendanceand record it in Google Sheet similar to this one. the check is based on wings ffont and funtions
That sounds pretty cool! Thanks for sharing!

Great video! I noticed the count is stopping at certain cell. When I add additional names they're not counted in the overall count. Please help

You're very welcome! 😊👍
Beautiful tutorial, thank you for being so direct and straight.
Please is there a way to automate this attendance with the data coming from a google form
Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the tutorial!
And that is a great question. Unfortunately there is no simple and easy way to automate this attendance sheet with a Google form. It would take some time to figure out, and I'd have to make another video to provide a full answer to this question. I will make note of it, and perhaps make a follow up video in the future. But I am so sorry I cannot provide a simple answer to you in this comment.
professional content ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words.
Thank you so much
You're very welcome!

Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
Is it possible to connect this one with a QR code scanner so that the attendance will be checked using the employees IDs QR code?
That's a really creative idea! However, I can't think of an easy way to set up the attendance tracker to work with QR codes like you have described. I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you.
Nevermind! I realized my mistake. You have a new subscriber
Glad you got it to work! And thanks so much for watching and subscribing!!
im having the same problem, but with adding new weeks. it stops after the 5th week. I want to add a new week at the beginning after the names. then when i add new names i would onlu drop down the row starting at the new week. I dont want it to count attendance for the new people before they joined.
Send me an email, and it will be easier for me to help there than just in this comment section. spreadsheetlife.com/contact/
Great Tutorial, Thank you. is there a way to have the names in alphabetical order and if you need to add in a new person/name keep it all alphabetically arranged?
Thank you for your feedback. That's a good question. For this setup in particular, the best solution is to type in the names, select them, right-click, view more cell actions, sort range. Then start logging the attendance data. After that, for new names, it would probably be easiest to add in the names in the proper place to keep everything in alphabetical order. Just select the row where the name should go, right-click, insert a row above or below, and add the new name. I hope this helps.
What if you wanted to track PTO, Sick Time, and VTO as well?
Good question. In that case, you would need to implement a different solution than this video presents. You are welcome to email me and I can assist further.
Is there a way to export it to excel and maintain the checkboxes?
That's a great question. Unfortunately, it is not possible to do so. Excel handles checkboxes differently, so the functionality would be lost if you were to export this spreadsheet into Excel.
However, I'll make a note to try to create a future video building something similar in Excel.
What if do it monthly? i need to track attendance every Sunday of each month..and i f wanted to track it by year, would i just create a new tab by copying and pasting the info from the previous year?
I may have a suggestion for you, but before that I'd like to clarify your question first. So you are trying to track the attendance for only the Sundays or each month (and no other day), and then tack that attendance over the course of the year? Is that correct?
Very HELPFUL !!!! Thank you so much !!! Do you post to your IG too, so easier for us to track what tutorial you post on your youtube ?
You are very welcome!! 😄
I actually don't have an IG. Do you think I should get one? 🤔
@@spreadsheetlife 😏 yes so i can follow you . 😂 I mean people will follow you, they will know the preview of ur newest tutorial so we can check your youtube whenever we find a new video from you
Okedokie! I will seriously consider getting an IG then. Thank you for the suggestion. I'm not sure how soon I'll have it up and running, but hopefully it won't be too long.
Thank you again for the encouragement. 😄
Thank you for your patience. How can I get the total attendance formula for each day?
Hmmm...total attendance formula for each day. I'm a little confused about what you are asking. Could you rephrase your question for me?
This is so helpful, thank you! I am implementing this tutorial for staff attendance of organization wide events throughout the year. Is there a way to adjust the formulas so that if an employee is either out on leave or was not yet employed at the time of the event, their overall attendance percentage will not be affected? Ideally this would look like a third option other than yes or no, I suppose? Would love to get your input!
You are very welcome! Super glad you found this helpful. 😊
And that's an awesome question. There is an easy way to do this. All you have to do is delete the checkbox for that specific instance. The formulas are written to count either checked or unchecked boxes. So if you just delete the checkbox, it will not affect the attendance percentage at all. That would be your third option. 👍
Also, to delete a checkbox, select the cell with the checkbox and press the delete key on your keyboard.
I hope this helps!
@@spreadsheetlife I'm so glad to know it's an easy work around! Thank you!
You're very welcome! 😊👍
Is there a way to lock the sheet so it can't messed up? I'm thinking of having students check the boxes as they enter class. One wrong check and potentially all formulas get messed up!
Yes. Under the Data tab, you will find a command called Protected Sheets & Ranges. This will allow you to lock certain portions of the spreadsheet. I also wrote an article on this topic a while back.

If suppose, the employee has taken half day off! how can we mark this out here? Or any such formula to be used to showcase the half day?
Unfortunately, there this no way to mark a half-day in this specific spreadsheet. You would have to take a different approach to the setup.
Is it ok for me to create in excel without any License issues? Or is this for my household use only?
If you can re-create this in Excel, you are welcome to share it with whoever your please. 😊👍
There are no license issues to worry about if you make it from scratch!
what can I do if the formula did not work?
Check that your formula is correct. If you are still having trouble, check that you followed the steps correctly. I'm sorry I can't help more without more context.
success
😍
So glad you were able to accomplish it! 😊👍
Only the 'No' section isn't working on my sheet. Can anyone please help me to type the code of yes & no here :) 8:32 ❤
For sue. What does your current formula look like?
I have no checkbox in my insert, how to have the checkbox
Are you working in Google Sheets? If you are in Excel, this may be the issue. At the time of this comment, only the Beta version of Excel supports checkboxes.
Please help me when I type in the formula for the yes box it says error what ever i do even though I wrote it exactly as u did, please help
For sure! Email me a screenshot at info@spreadsheetlife.com, and I can help.
@@spreadsheetlife thank you for wanting to help me out, but it happened to be that my docs formulas was based on another language than English so I just changed it to English and the formulas worked. Amazing video tho!
I'm so glad you were able to figure it out, and thank you for letting me know!
helpful but, every month dates and days are not same......
That is true, but this tracker is organized by week instead of by month. If you'd like to see an Attendance Tracker organized by month instead, check out this video.

Just keep in mind that this alternative Attendance Tracker is designed for Excel rather than Google Sheets.
For some reason which i don't know, the formula is not working properly. when i check for someone it affects someone else, please can you share the formulas here or in response. I really need this, thank you for such a great content
Where are you located? Depending on your location settings, your formulas might require semi-colons instead of commas. This might be the issue.
Oh okay, I did not know that. I am located in Accra, Ghana. Please what should i do different? @@spreadsheetlife
Try using semi-colons in place of commas within your formula. If that still doesn't work, let me know.
Hi, i have tried it again and it still did not work. @@spreadsheetlife
Ok. Let's see, could you possible take a screenshot or maybe even share the file with me so I can take a look at it? You can send me an email at info@spreadsheetlife.com.
Sir what is Yes and No refers to
Here are what the Yes and No refer to.

Hi there! Are you asking why this formula is written this way?
No No Just Copy Pasting
Great Video BTW !
Ok awesome! Just wanted to be sure. I like to answer as many questions as I can.
And thanks so much!
Only the 'No' section isn't working on my sheet. Can anyone please help me to type the code of yes & no here :)
Formula for Yes in cell C7: =COUNTIFS($H$5:$HF$5, TRUE, H7:HF7, TRUE)
Formula for No in cell D7: =COUNTIFS($H$5:$HF$5, TRUE, H7:HF7, FALSE)
I hope this helps.
