Oh bless you, making a chain-plied ball is one of my favourite plying methods.

Very nice. I’ve never “pre-chain plied” before. Can you explain how you do that?

Thank you! I’ve written a blog post about the two ways to chain ply. You can read about how to do it here - www.craftmehappy.com/2022/11/chain-plying-at-wheel-versus-making.html

Oh I will knit this up one day. I think it will look beautiful alongside several other reds I’ve spun for a V back Tee sweater.

That is yummy yarn and I learn so much from watching your videos such as how to turn a batt into a worsted prep for spinning. I'm looking at getting a blending board and I've been scratching my head about that one. Your video is very helpful. Thank you.

Oh thank you so much, I’m so glad you’re finding my videos helpful! I was gifted a blending board several years ago and I struggled to find a use for it. All of the videos I found were of people preparing textured art batts and super colourful rolags. I wanted to spin repeatable, wearable yarns. It was only when I was trying to find different ways of preparing multi-coloured blended top that I picked up my blending board and properly fell in love with it. I haven’t got room for a drum carder so a blending board is perfect for me.

I have room for a drum carder either and I don't think that the amount of spinning I do would justify the expense. I've decided to make my own blending board. I got a really nice teak cutting board at a discount store. I'm now figuring out which carding cloth to order. I'm looking forward to being able to play with it! This fiber hobby is really addictive.@@KathrynCraftmehappy

@@zoedoodleBrilliant! I would probably have made my own if I knew more about carding cloth at the time.
I would go for a higher tpi carding cloth, maybe 90+ and then use a dense brush to help draft the fibres on. I imagine a wide paintbrush with the bristles cut down would work well.
