    I'm from Philippines and these practices are still alive. Let me explain the part where the manure were placed at the pond. Those manures mixed with soil and tabacco leaves are use to form mosses. Yes, they form mosses ( I mean they fertilized the pond bed for moss ) as basic the food source of the shrimps. So if you're thinking that shrimps in SE Asia are dirty, just make up your mind that shrimps don't feed on the dung itself but the mosses form from it.

    We get ours from the gulf. I rarely eat them but my mom could easily spend $20-60 for shrimp in one month. I bought a 1 pound bag of peeled de-veined shrimp to test out a pasta dish and it came out really tasty!!

    @felice2442 I am talking about the tropics. In temperate western countries the river delta areas are either technological ports or have no marine life left, since it has been completely destroyed through pollution since the industrial revolution. They have to find their fish only in deeper waters in the sea.

      +TheBooban Well shrimp eat poop and dead things even without these^ practices.

    • @TheBooban
      @TheBooban 8 лет назад

      Lady Lyssa
      fresh poop is fertilizer, fresh dead things is just food. Problem is that greed means they are not doing it properly; the environment and shrimp are filled with pesticides, antibiotics and the water putrid.

    • @ladylyssa5130
      @ladylyssa5130 8 лет назад +1

      +TheBooban I get it but naturally they eat poop in the wild as well and yes I understand that once it's contained like this, the concentration of toxins far exceeds what would be found naturally.

    This is why you steer clear of any farm raised shrimp / fish imported from from poor country’s.
    I’m no marine biologist but it’s safe to say their not eating cow, chicken and pig shit in the ocean and who knows what else there dumping in there for feed. They’re basically being grown in what we would call sewage.

      Do you know something about aquaculture?!!! Agriculture?!!! Farmers do the preparation first by cleaning the farm using pesticides,herbicides,fertilizer etc.The same thing with fish or shrimp farming,but the pesticide that they used here is organic, they used the vine of tubli to eliminate all the unwanted creatures inside the pond,that can be a treat to the shrimp you are going to grow.Cow dung or chicken dung is being used to induce the growth of planktons which is the natural food for shrimps and their shelter from rain and the heat of the sun.
