What I mean by that is there are still a ton of universities that don't actually have a formal digital marketing program. And so as a result of this, it means that for the most part colleges don't prepare you all that much for digital marketing right now.
1:45 - Reason #2: Get paid more than the average
For a digital marketing analyst level one, which is pretty much an entry-level position, your average national salary is 57K. This is 14% higher than the average US salary of 50K a year.
The key takeaway for you here is that it's fine for where you start out and that there's a lot of healthy upside for people that potentially liked traditional employment more and have no plans of being self-employed or things like that in the future.

Everyone wants to go digital with their business these days, whether it's a small business or a big business. So what this means is that even if you were to leave your traditional digital marketing job after a year or two, you would still have a ton of valuable skills that you can use for consulting or making some extra money in bridging your next potential employment.

One strong suit of digital marketing is that it's easily leveraged. You can do something really, really exceptionally well, and then reap the rewards of those efforts multiple times over.
Because it's an outcome driven profession, people typically don't care where you went to school when it comes to digital marketing. Instead, what they care about is your past projects or your past results in terms of digital marketing things that you have taken on.

A lot of digital marketing jobs are actually fully remote already. So that means that if you are trying to live your best life and live that nomadic lifestyle, you can do so if you'd like. Just find a company that supports that.

There are so many different facets to digital marketing there's performance marketing and within that, there's even just the difference between Facebook ads, Google ads, et cetera. And there's also organic SEO and a ton of other topics as well.
So you can spend several years mastering just one of these areas of digital marketing and still have a ton to learn in another area of the field.

Regardless of whether you work in an agency or an accompany, a ton of digital marketers are able to find consulting gigs and freelance opportunities to use their digital marketing skills. The nice thing is that with these clients, you're able to charge two to three times your normal rate because it's a freelance job.

@@GrowWithWill but is it scammy? The fact is that too many times when the subject is social media marketing and digital marketing there are a lot of sources that are a waste of time or approximative; am I the only one experiencing this?
I think digital marketing will eventually guide the future trajectory of society! I also think digital marketing and consulting will become the "ideal career choice" for the younger generations who prefer remote work and slightly more flexibility. I'm a strong believer that videos like this will soon be integrated within educational curriculums.

I'm self taught in both Digital Marketing and Software Development. If you're more Extroverted, go with Digital Marketing. If you're more Introverted go with Software Development. Both careers can get you a salary of six figures within 3 to 4 years. Both also offer 100% Remote.
I think both introverts and extroverts can do either career; to each their own!
Hi there, I honestly think that digital marketing is the next career choice for me. I have always had a niche for creativity and technology, i would always freelanced and think i have found a career path where I can channel my talents. I often felt that even though I have a background in math, the amount of work/thinking I do is not worth the incentive. One is mostly praised for your "Intelligence", honestly the cents aren't making sense for me. I know family members are going to frown upon my career choice.. well it's not up to them. Digital marketing is the way to go!😁

Good video! It helped me a lot to decide wether or not to jump ahead and try this field! Question: since there are so much fields to choose from (SEO, Google Analytics, etc.) How would one know with which one to start with? Is it based on our personnal interests or is there a field easier or more in demand than others?
SEO will always be in demand as long as search engines are relevant to our online experiences.
I'd start with what you're interested in and go from there though. There are great careers both in the organic and paid sides of things

I can either get a Certificate in DM or Multimedia, using a company set-up. My goal was to use Video skills combined with DM, as a powerful 1-2 punch. I can either teach myself the Cinema Camera, then enroll in a DM bootcamp, or teach myself DM, then enroll in the Multimedia Certificate. Any gut reactions? Thanks!
Gut reaction is certificates don't matter; build projects that give you actual experience over classes.

Hello will, well ı had 2 years hr experience , after that ı had a gap in my career, this year ı moved to germany and enrolled a digital marketing master program. But also there is hr mba program in my school. I am 36 years old and have 2 kids. I didnt have any connection with digital things or program but in germany its a top of demanded job. Thousands of job ad ı counter in stepstone or linkedin. Do you think should ı change my degree in hr or. Stay in digital marketing? Only thing wll be challenging for me these certificates , google ads analyses ect
Up to you -- would make a decision matrix for yourself of what's important to you and then evaluate from there.
@@GrowWithWill actually ı did something like that but couldnt find a precise result for me. I mean both of the programs have pros and cons but ı dont know Germany very well . Hr is easier for me and ı have experience on the other hand digital marketing has tremendous job opportunities but out of my confort zone . 🤷🏽♀️ but finding job is crucial for me in 2,5 year cause I have visa for 2,5 years after than ı must start to work in a company. There is ofcourse HR hobs in the market but not sure .

Not sure about your local currency but in the United States, digital marketing would make less than a software engineering job typically.
