    One more important part of the song is the acoustic home demo included on the “With the Lights Out” box set, also having different lyrics and being about his dependance on Courtney, the last line of the second verse about his relationship being
    “its another opiate
    but to me its everything”

    • @SchizoPantheon

      The demo is another very interesting element.
      The original script had me going more in depth into its lyrics rather than just giving it a quick mention near the start of the video, but didn't want to make the video even longer than it already is.
      Thank you for commenting this, it's another fascinating piece of history that I would advise people look into if they find this video interesting

      Heres the issue, I've done same so don't take this as me saying U can't look at lyrics and figure it out, but he did say he's lazy and often finished lyrics last minute and just wrote whatever. But I don't believe this. Ppl like him who write anything usually writes what's going on in their lives is always some part in these writings. Maybe not 100% but we're creatures of habit and we usually spill our emotions out in our art in some way. All I know is his words saved me. Thank you for this Kurt.

    02/14/94 - Valentine's Day 1994 (one year before Hole's Unplugged performance). Nirvana was on their European In Utero Tour Nirvana performed at Le Zénth, Paris, France and Instead of Courtney being there with Kurt, she was In the UK following the Smashing Pumpkins tour.... It's rumored that before the 02/14/94 Le Zénth, Paris, France Kurt found out that Courtney Cheated on him, which is maybe why Nirvana ended their 02/14/94 show with "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" and supposedly someone seen Kurt crying.
    10 days later on 02/24/94 (which was Kurt and Courtney's 2nd Wedding Anniversary) Nirvana was In Milano, Italy. And Courtney was still with Billy Corgan on the Smashing Pumpkins tour.
    Courtney finally met up with Kurt on March 3rd 1994 after Kurt cancelled Nirvana's tour after he was diagnosed with severe bronchitis and laryngitis Kurt flew to Rome, Italy from Germany and Kurt was trying to be romantic and spent hundreds of dollars on Roses, Champagne, and Courtney just ended up going to sleep... And that's when Kurt ended up in the coma from the mixture of Champagne and Rohypnol (which Courtney claim was a "Suicide" attempt) and said Kurt left a note that she apparently burned, and claimed he was fully dressed with thousands of dollars in his pocket... And claimed he took 60 Rohypnol tablets but even the hospital said that there was nowhere near that amount in his stomach or blood stream.... And she says she found him around 4:30am but didn't call the ambulance until 7am and did her makeup.
    If someone found their husband unconscious/OD you would call an ambulance right away not wait 2 hours and do your make up before calling an ambulance... But then on Valentine's Day 1995 she played Nirvana's "You Know You're Right" and "Old Age" which is a Song Kurt gave her and then she acts like a loving widow but treated Kurt like shit when he was still alive.

      This is insane. So many exaggerations and straight up lies. It’s so ridiculous how obsessed everyone is with Courtney. Ik you like to pretend he was murdered bc it’s more interesting and fun for you, but that’s sick. She lost her husband, the father of her daughter, and you choose to exaggerate, make wild assumptions,and lie for your own entertainment. It’s pathetic and exactly the kind of media hype tabloid bs drama Kurt would be disgusted with. You are what he stood against. Stick to the facts.
      And ps, there is plenty to hate Courtney for outside of murdering Kurt. I’m not a Courtney fan or something. I just don’t accuse people of murder when I don’t like them.

    I have friends who were in their circle of friends and have heard what they say - and another friend worked for Hole at one point - he said that Courtney was literally the worst person he ever met. I think if Kurt had, for example, married & had a kid with Toby Vail, or someone reasonably stable like her, he might be alive today. I'm not discounting Kurt's suicidal ideation earlier in life nor his use of heroin before Courtney - just, I think if he'd been with someone kinder & less f#$%d up, rehab would have stuck & he would have support instead of infidelity and acrimony. I feel like Courtney could drive anyone to off themselves, especially a shy, nice guy with a terrible lack of family & love & physical & addiction issues. I wish that someone had given Kurt the kind of advice Michael Stipe gave to Thom Yorke when he said Thom had the $ to "disappear completely" - Kurt needed to get out of the public eye & have some time to get clean, get rid of Courtney & find a way forward - maybe take a year & work on his other art or something - let the publicity and constant attention die down and find a way to handle it all better.

      I think it's pretty easy after something happens to make an informed decision after you have time to analyze a situation, like if you're watching cops and ur in 4th grade and being like "JESUS christ just don't sell drugs", but I think that really undermines alot of situational deep rooted things. Like "kurt needed to get rid of courtney and get out of the lime light"? Really? When did you figure that out? Because if it was 30 years after and you're only connection to kurt was that you knew one of the people who worked for hole I would kind of fully expect that to happen. But I think that if you would use your imagination to see how little we know about kurt, and his life, and his mental issues, that you could start having sympathy for him as an individual rather than just deciding what's best for him. All this speculating about how kurt could've been "preserved" if something different in his very personal and private life went different is parasitacally parasocial at best

      Right, I get it. Most mistakes in life are fairly normal, and some are unforgivable; can't be reconciled. Kinda like someone who ends up on death row cuz they didn't act appropriately at a given time, made a rash quick decision and harmed someone. And a person will pay for that w their life. So instead of reflecting back on "what couldve been", what's your suggestion then? How are we supposed to think, reflect, or interpret on this? (You said have sympathy) well hell yeah of course. Kurt himself says in an interview he was asked "Is yours a sad story?" And he said, "No, i don't think so. I'm just a normal person, a product of a spoiled America" He had terminal diagnoses also & his health was ruined 😢 I've seen it happen myself to ppl as young as 30. But besides empathy/sympathy, did you have another key takeaway point 👉 to make? That's what I was asking

    • @andrewgray1161
      @andrewgray1161 9 месяцев назад +16

      I agree completely. I am also an empathetic who married an even worse kind of narcissist, what psychologists call "a covert narcissist" and it literally destroyed me from the inside out, made me beyond suicidal and I've been on heroin ever since, and it is the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life (which is saying a lot bc I lost both my parents at 12 and lived on the streets ever since and my whole life was God awful but a covert narcissist studies you intricately and then changed even about themselves to be THE PERFECT PERSON FOR YOU and they put ALL their energy into it and you'll think you really found your soulmate and after a long time of everything being perfect and everything you ever wanted, then you finally accept it is real and put your guard down, finally more happy than you ever thought possible and then they know they have you and then they proceed to tear you down piece by piece until there's nothing left of you and then the try to see if they can get you to kill yourself for them bc in their twisted mind, pushing you beyond the breaking point and then seeing if they can bring you all the way back in with the love-bombing stage again, just to run you through the devastating cycles again and again until you kill yourself instead of just leaving them, is the ultimate validation they seek, the only reason they live for, the only thing they can assume is how much they can assume they are worth bc they really don't know or feel love ever in their lifetime, only hatred and disgust, and the more you allow them to punish you, the more valuable they feel and that is their sole purpose in life. And they ALWAYS cheat doing the same thing to multiple people at a time so that they'll never be alone and not have someone to suck the energy out of just like a vampire. Kurt went through the narcissistic psychological abuse and there just was no way for him to get over the devastation of not having the loving complete family he so desired from. So yeah, Courtney psychologically abused the shit out of him with the cheating and psycho mind games and ultra passive aggressiveness etc, and wether directly or indirectly, she definitely killed him

    • @AtacamaHumanoid
      @AtacamaHumanoid 9 месяцев назад +12

      I used to think that, but learning more about his final days convinced me it was by his own hand. The band, manager, and friends were all called to his house by Courtney when he locked himself in a room. He shortly after decided to go to rehab, but when he found out Gibby Haynes was his roommate, he refused to stay there for some reason and told Gibby he's going to jump the fence and run. Gibby told him, "I'm pretty sure you can just walk out the front door," but stated Kurt insisted on climbing the fence for some unknown reason. After that, people were all over looking for him but nobody thought the check the greenhouse until a few days later and by then it was too late.
      He basically ran away from rehab and did the deed quickly. He probably jumped the back fence because he wanted a little time before word got around and everyone knew he was gone. It is often claimed that he had too much heroin in his system to pull the trigger, but I don't believe that is true at all. If he was determined and fast about it, I'm sure he could shoot up and quickly pull the trigger. I'm sure he thought about it enough and was a pro at using smack, so the whole thing was well-rehearsed in his mind. And he probably used a LOT of heroin that last time with the intention of numbing any pain and OD'ing quickly if the shotgun wasn't an instant result. He shot up, put the barrel in his mouth and, as soon as he started to feel the heroin coming on, he blasted.
      That does leave the weirdness of Courtney getting caught practicing his handwriting and possibly calling the police on herself for "drug" use in a hotel the night Kurt died. The drugs turned out to be fake, so she had a convenient alibi of being in jail the night Kurt died, and was released as soon as the drugs tested as fake. She also had a friend on the police force there.
      So, it could all be a setup, but if it was, then apparently someone was waiting for Kurt at his own home and either tricked him into going to the greenhouse to shoot up or forcibly dragged him there while everyone else was spread around town looking for him. That's equally plausible, I suppose. I just think Kurt was pretty obviously ready to do the deed and jumping over the back fence of the rehab center makes a lot of sense if it was just his way of buying some time to be alone and do the deed.

    • @ohwellwhateverr
      @ohwellwhateverr 9 месяцев назад +19

      @@AtacamaHumanoid I’m not sure your account of the deed really stacks up. The case file states that he was found with the needle and tourniquet removed, the drug kit packed away and his sleeve rolled down. He would have had to have done all that and then pull the trigger, despite subsequent forensic analysts saying that the quantity of heroin in his system was enough to immediately incapacitate even a hardened user.
      Then there’s the matter of the blood, or lack of it. We would expect a huge amount of blood from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, yet there was only a small amount seeping out from his ear, suggesting that his heart had already stopped beating BEFORE the gunshot was fired.

I hold her partially responsible for kurts death because she drove him insane with her lust for money and fame. His wife instead of being his support group was a leach . The person that really got cheated in this was his daughter . I have the most sympathy for her. Addiction is a horrible thing and addicts need a friend not a gold & fame digger and a mooch.

    Nah yo you know you’re right is a break up song ain’t no words about Kurt’s suicide in it… cmon now
    BUT in terms of your analysis of Courtney changing the lyrics of ykyr you’re spot on. .. it’s a heartbreaking change to his powerful lyrics BECAUSE it’s a break up song and she knew it… she knew he was putting everything he had into his music, and at that point she had drained all else from him. What better way to respond then the only way he could, with his lyrics, his guitar, his boys, and his voice.
    That final track is fucking NIRVANA through and through.
    Kurt couldn’t have written that song as suicide note, and I can’t accept that it’s lyrics can be interpreted as such… this witch of a woman had a hold on him, and eventually was responsible for him dying in some way… these lyrics are proof in the pudding… he wanted a divorce, he wanted to escape from Courtney, from nirvana… why do you think man was linking up with Michael stiep and rem?

    January 30, 1994 - Robert Lang Studios, North Seattle, WA where Nirvana recorded "You Know You're Right" It's true that Kurt showed up on the 3rd day without any of his equipment. But Kurt's guitar tech Earnie Bailey was there and he was luckily working on one of Kurt's Univox Hi-Flier (which was a Black Univox Hi-Flier Phase I or Phase II) which was modded by Earnie Bailey and Earnie had It In his car which he ran out and grab and Kurt used either a Boss Distortion (or maybe a Ibanez SM-9 Super Metal or Boss HM-3 Hyper Metal) from Earnie's Pedalboard and the amp Kurt used was a Marshall JMP50
    That's what Kurt used to record "You Know You're Right" and before Nirvana recorded You Know You're Right when Kurt arrived Kurt listened to the tracks that Krist and Dave recorded the last 2 days (January 28 & 29, 1994) and Kurt complained about his back hurting from his Scoliosis and laid down on the cold tile floor and a Black Cat wandered Into the studio and Kurt drew a picture of the Black Cat on the walls of the Studio (It's supposedly still there to this day, Kurts drawing), and after recording "You Know You're Right" they took a dinner break and supposedly Kurt had Pizza and a glass of Milk. And when they returned to Robert Lang's Studio they recorded an Instrumental of the Unknown song mislabeled as "Ivy League" which Nirvana played live at the end of the December 29, 1993 - San Diego Sports Arena, San Diego, CA. And there may have been 2 more tracks recorded.

    For the disgusting people saying she murdered her husband... So you're saying that she wrote three suicide notes including one for Francis from Kurt, then proceeded to read the main one while bawling and responding to it angrily at some points in real time because she was so upset at what he did making her the greatest actress of all time (and I've seen her act she's good but not that freaking good). And also, what exactly was her motivation for murdering the father of her child? What he like wanted a divorce or something? She was afraid to lose money even though she had her own career? And so she kills him masterfully without any evidence? Give me a god damn break. This isn't a movie people it's real life with real people. Yeah she may be a shitty person but it doesn't make her a murderer. You people are seriously gross and should feel ashamed for saying stuff like that. It's especially disrespectful to Francis.

    • @thehutch7728
      @thehutch7728 9 месяцев назад

      “Disgusting person” checking in, and YUP - that’s exactly what I’m saying. She doesn’t need to be the greatest actress of all time. Have you never regretted actions you took? She may have had regrets, she may have been feeding off the energy of the crowd, AND she may have been acting. Those three aren’t mutually exclusive.
      For the “why”, Court’s band was technically more successful when they married, but Nirvana quickly surpassed them. Kurt helped write her songs, she drew a LOT of attention from being his wife, and stood to lose a lot in the divorce thanks to the prenup that *she’d* insisted on to protect her Hole “fortune.” By making herself a widow instead of a divorcée, she saved herself from all of that, and gets to bank off the connection for the rest of her life.
      I can’t remember your other points, and the app won’t let me look while I type, so I’ll stop here, but if you open your mind even a teenie bit, you must admit that there are at least reasons to suspect wrongdoing in THIS case, never mind all the other deaths and shady dealings Courtney Love is connected to.

      absolute nonsense. you have no idea what this song is about that just your own biased, highly subjective opinion on what its about. He wasn't leaving his wife they weren't even separated. There is a zero percent chance Kurt did anything except take his own life and bail on his family. Kristen and Kurt ride off into the sunset? LOL sure they were. Talk about wishful thinking, good grief. Kristen and Kurt were never an item that is pure fan fiction.

    I can't believe Kurt loved her so much and all that. People in the area knew he was seeing someone in the U district of Seattle, and was really into them. It was speculated he may leave his wife, and the band to do other things. He had plans. That was just right before he died.
    Also when a person is 'so in love', they want to see them and be near. He was very busy ignoring her, and her phone calls at the end of their marriage.

    Dude was a bi polar, alcoholic, drug addict. That in itself is a recipe for suicidal ideation. Throw in the fact he hated fame, recently attempted and failed committing suicide. dropped his baby daughter whilst high, and etc. etc.. Bro killed himself. He did the “I really wanna effin die” way of shooting himself up with a high dose of smack and then shooting himself up with a shotgun. I read a story recently about a woman that killer herself by shooting herself in the head AFTER jumping off a cliff where the fall woulda killed her anyway. Some ppl just really want to die and pull a double whammy to ensure they do. After his failed attempt, this makes total sense. I hope his soul, if we have one after we croak, is at peace.

    courtneys interpretation of the song isn’t showing betrayal, it’s showing how she was feeling at the time and she used her husbands song bc she was grieving. i hate the narrative that she wasn’t disturbed and distraught by his death, her performing his song and changing lyrics is her way of paying homage and if most people don’t like that then most people don’t know courtney

    • @jh7127
      @jh7127 10 месяцев назад +6

      Not trying to be argumentative, i just want to hear out why you don’t think this is bad. To me it does seem odd that she would change the lyrics in a song written about Kurt’s bad mental state and her part in it to a completely different meaning right after his death. That to me seems super insensitive and deliberate, to chose such a song and alter it in that way.

    • @tabithaferengul
      @tabithaferengul 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@jh7127 you have to consider her state of mind at the time too during this. she wasn’t gonna pull of of their hits and play that bc that would only just make more people mad that she “ruined” a nirvana song. courtney is known for changing lyrics to her own songs in her own performances so her choosing to change the words she did from what they were is really nothing more than a creative choice made by a misunderstood grieving widow. she may or may not have fully known what the song was even about, whether that being about her or kurt’s mental state. what i do know and what i will stand by is i hate when people come for courtney without knowing shit about her. i’ve taken my time and spent countless hours watching videos and interviews and concerts of her to try and fully understand why she was so hated amongst the grunge community and especially nirvana fans. their relationship was toxic and tumultuous but you can’t say they didn’t love each other. courtney’s choice to not only perform this song but also change lyrics shows how she was feeling at the time and how she saw things, she was speaking thru kurt in her own words. i don’t understand what’s so wrong with that

    • @tabithaferengul
      @tabithaferengul 10 месяцев назад

      @@jh7127 this performance was also nearly a year after kurts death, holes unplugged was february of 1995 and kurt died in april 1994. almost a year there, so for someone to make the argument that it’s insensitive to do right after his death, yeah maybe like weeks or so after. this was almost a year after his death and she was incredibly fucked up at this performance i know for a fact so the lyric changing could also have just been a result of courtneys addictions and tendencies to slur or misuse lyrics

    • @SchizoPantheon
      @SchizoPantheon  10 месяцев назад +6

      You make some good points, but my main argument is that she specifically introduces the song as the last one Kurt had written. She sets up the song as coming from Kurt's perspective, not hers. And while the smaller changes, like "will" to "would" can definitely be accidental or slurring words, I think some of the changes to the lyrics are too great to be an accident or misremembering the original lyrics. It definitely comes across as an intentional rewrite. And even if we assume that she rewrote the lyrics to be from the perspective of a grieving widow, I don't think adding "I have never felt so well" fits that narrative (and is also an incredibly insensitive line to add when singing about your husband's somewhat recent death)

    • @tabithaferengul
      @tabithaferengul 10 месяцев назад +3

      @@SchizoPantheon idk just like the song says, you’ve got no right. interpret it as you wish and hate her for changing words, you’ve got no right. it’s ironic how kurt can use the words “things have never been so swell” and everyone knows or just assumes he’s being sarcastic and joking but assuming her lyric change “i have never felt so well” isn’t coming from the exact same place 🤷‍♀️ just seems like another vid for angry nirvana fans (my room is adorned with kurt posters and i have almost all their vinyls so i can say this) to blame courtney for yet another thing. go back and watch some hole concerts from before kurt died and tell me when they didn’t perform a nirvana song she didn’t change some lyrics. but i guess it’s “disrespectful” 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ c’est la vie… i’ll defend courtney any day of the week and when she’s in the wrong i think i’m more than capable to admit she’s done some shitty things. i just don’t agree with the argument in this case and i’m stating my opinion as someone who actually listens to both their music

    I was born within 48 hours of Kurt. It's great he forever will be a young man. Hard to imagine we're both almost 57. I barely made it through those years as well. My name on here coming from the two things that kept me from doing just that in my mid 20s, music and weed. It got me through my breakup and split from the pain pills I was getting from different doctors back then. But I didn't have Courtney. I'll always think she killed him. Because she thought his giving it all up, she wouldn't be famous anymore like he'd made her. So she hired someone to put the valium in his root beer. And when he was out of it, injected him and blew his brains out. My best friend did the same thing, but with a .357 magnum in his mouth. And although he was the best hunter I knew, pulled enough to shank the bullet, and live 6 weeks in coma in the hospital before family pulling the plug. They both were on an unlimited supply of the same drug. My friends coming from a huge inheritance that allowed him to go back to using. Although he was hiding it from me. Really sucks they couldn't find a way out.

I actually think Courtney got pregnant on purpose to force the marriage.

So, why was Jackson Being pinned down by security paid to protect him, and why was his own doctor giving him a large overdose?
