I always bring this up whenever this subject is broached because, quite frankly, more people need to know about it: Currently there have been no major studies in the medical or scientific communities into pedophilia. On the surface this may not come as a surprise to you at all. I mean, who would _want_ to study something so monstrous? Plus, what's there to understand about it, these people are monsters, so lock them up and throw away the key. Except for the small fact that a lot of pedophiles are are individuals who were themselves sexually abused when they were children. Now obviously this doesn't excuse their behavior at all; but at the same time if there is a causal link between these things surely it should be looked into so that such behavior in victims of childhood sexual abuse can be caught early on and dealt with before it becomes an issue. In all honesty, when you think about how detrimental it is to have such people living among the populace, it really is quite baffling as to why modern medicine hasn't put any resources into studying this subject, because it needs to be addressed. And no simply executing all pedophiles is not a viable solution, because all you would be doing then is incentivizing child predators to permanently silence their victims. After all, if the penalty for sexually abusing a child is exactly the same for murdering a child, then what exactly would they have to lose by making sure that said child never has the chance to report them? And even if they did end up getting caught, it's not like they can get executed twice. No, we as a society need to approach this subject seriously for a scientific and medical standpoint, otherwise children are just gonna keep getting victimized by these monsters and then turn into monsters themselves when they grow up.

ive been following mamamax for a long time, for a while before his "vigilante" content I guess, and it always baffled me how little attention he got. He brought up some truly disturbing and sickening issues, evidence of each which he granted to the authorities, hour long videos with links and interviews and proof of terrible things on youtube like pedophilia and animal abuse for years now. The way you deal issues is so logical and calm, it's so refreshing. When you picked out the way that little things like the backlash over disagreeing with the hashtag gets in the way of progress in solving the problem, I was so happy to see someone acknowledging that kind of stuff, thinking about it, instead of just getting swept away with the emotional storm that is the internet. I just had my video talking about the history of jackass taken down. I showed nothing graphic and deliberately avoided anything bad, muted all swearing etc. The whole video is utilising footage that is currently on RUclips right now. They took it down for dangerous content. My suspicion is because at the end of the video I talked about RUclipss over bearing censorship is very similar to the issues jackass faced with censorship from cable tv.

I definitely agree for the most part. However, there’s some things that masquerade as “independent journalism” that is really just misinformation, and sometimes that misinfo can actually lead to lives being destroyed, whether through harassment campaigns or being harmed directly through that misinfo. Obviously we need to be careful, but I think there is a line that should be drawn somewhere.
Even though Charlie is completely correct with his take of #pickasideyoutube, opposing Max's message at the end, I noticed that channels are kind of now shitting on Max and making him out to be a cringy asshole for this trend he created, when it was just a mistake for his hashtag that was not executed in the right way. Charlie and Max are some of my favorites when it comes to RUclipsrs, and Charlie is the perfect middle ground for the situation. The issue of dark content getting taken down is so serious, information is one of the most powerful things we have. Taking down videos exposing bad actors to warn potential victims and reduce bad peoples influence is short sighted and horrible. History content is one of the best ways to both learn about and understand the lessons of history in a fun way but mentioning the dark parts that need to be talked about results in strikes. Independent creators have made incredible horror and arg content on this platform only to have their vision and creativity nerfed. Channels that talk about and try to help/inform people about abuse go from safe spaces to overly censored and half as effective. When things are catered to the advertisers everybody loses, the creators, the viewers, and RUclips’s wide variety of content to draw people in.

The best way to have your voice heard these days is unfortunately outrage content, and “youtube pick between pedos and kids” is far more likely to get that outrage and attention than “youtube censorship is harmful and creates more victims.” Best move to get the actual nuanced point across? No. But best move for getting everyone to direct their attention towards that point? Absolutely.

Using such a horrific problem for his own clout, his own bank account, faking it and threatening creators to get millions of subs. He never made a million. And now, he's losing 50K/day+. The real issue is how RUclips just handles every issue that its creators has in a singleton way when there are clear systemic problems, and never address the root issues, preferring to sweep things under the rug. I think the first instinct of the site would be, when a shitstorm happens, "Okay, our solution is to bring MamaMax's video back. We'll keep letting other investigative videos get struck though." And it's proven effective because people just seem to forgive and forget when individual creators are restituted, while those who don't have a Twitter following have no recourse. RUclips sticks their head in the sand and tries to pretend there's no problems if the problems are tricky to address. A big movement that doesn't back down unless something internally changes for the better is needed. Because I suspect that even if it's not at the top, there's still people within RUclips that have conflicts of interest that cause them to unfairly strike down content or keep it struck down on manual review. Or very poor/inconsistent rules given to their manual review teams. The algorithm has its own issues, but I don't see how that could be fixed short of removing the automation which would pretty much break RUclips entirely, given how reliant it is on automation. However, calling unrelated individuals out seems like a bad move. My biggest complaint was that he clearly brought up a personal beef with Corpse -- whoever the hell that even is, I'm unfamiliar with their content -- and clearly and publically tried to do moral ransom. It was a clear attempt to force his hand using rather underhanded public shaming for a completely unrelated and personal issue. He did not need to go into details of how he was personally wronged. That, if you ask me, was the one point where he really crossed the line. One really has to be careful, either way, when they bring out any sort of 'with us or against us' mentality, because it's an extremely slippery slope. But worse is that I'm concerned that dropping a bomb like this won't even guarantee the core issue be addressed. That is, RUclips sticking their heads in the sand when they make decisions everyone hates, and not listening to criticism. Because, yes -- people ARE sick of how RUclips practices the definition of insanity.
It's probably because most of the site is run by bots, because you'd have to hire so many people o effectively moderate the platform. Bots are very hard to get right due to how they work algorithmically which isn't like humans who go based on rules and emotions.
@@illford6921 Plus, I remember a thing one of my relatives said during a conversation. Take what I say with grains of salt, as I do not want to give a source. This was from a family member. But they stated that some of the people who had manually moderated such content got exposed to some very traumatizing things and got depressed as a result, even committing suicide in some cases. It may also be morality on their side but personally it makes sense that they want bots. The more you get people to review such content you may get quality of such moderation to decrease, because if you get repeatedly exposed you may lose sensitivity. Of course, I also think the last point I made isn't a very good argument against it. It's a mixture of both ethics and mechanics, as they are unleashing these systems on those trying to warn others about such content. I feel there should be a system of both flesh and metal because of this. Have bots be the first line of defense, use them as a general sweep. Have them split into different "Task Forces", if you will. Some for illegal activity, some for promoting such, and generally hateful content. Next, have more thorough searches be made. Explicit things will be called out automatically. Use filters to see if such content is hidden in the video, stuff like that. Of course, next thing is to send more ambiguous stuff to humans. They can decide from there, and be the overall moderation. This is not a perfect system. Some humans are going to potentially be bad actors, and a company can go SCP-5000 at any point, causing such systems to fall far from grace. However, it is one of the best *theoretical* and possible systems I can think of immediately, without considering circumstances. If AI do eventually gain emotional intelligence, I can't wait to see the therapy bills for the country skyrocket.
I think it depends on who you follow really. But it's just too easy to find toxic people, that's the problem. I use twitter sometimes, and there's so much negativity there, it's really sad.

I see that and I get where Charlie is coming from, but like- RUclips is pretty much covering up and "protecting" (whether they mean to or not) pedophiles from getting justice or acknowledgement for their wrongdoings. If people had watched MamaMax's video, they would've seen that MamaMax made a very good point about the issue with RUclips striking down hard on content creators who focus on more darker, more serious themes just because the platform doesn't want to have its reputation tarnished. That's extremely bad because RUclips is supposed to be a place where content creators could make whatever content they like, as long as it doesn't disobey the rules and regulations. Taking down MamaMax's video because of an animated ass crack without taking in the full context of the video itself (or even politely asking MamaMax to just censor the animated ass crack because the video's message is pretty important) is certainly a dick move from RUclips. However, cancelling Charlie, or anyone else for that matter, and saying that he sides with pedophiles just because he criticized what MamaMax did on Twitter is completely illogical, biased, and a knee-jerk reaction to having someone not agree with what MamaMax did. I find it alarming how RUclips, Twitter, content creators, and especially the fans, have little care for context and criticism. It's sad to see that just because someone doesn't agree with your approach to a truly just cause is automatically seen as a person who is in the side of the villains, without even giving them the chance to properly explain their side or take. I always bring this up whenever this subject is broached because, quite frankly, more people need to know about it:
Currently there have been no major studies in the medical or scientific communities into pedophilia. On the surface this may not come as a surprise to you at all. I mean, who would _want_ to study something so monstrous? Plus, what's there to understand about it, these people are monsters, so lock them up and throw away the key. Except for the small fact that a lot of pedophiles are are individuals who were themselves sexually abused when they were children. Now obviously this doesn't excuse their behavior at all; but at the same time if there is a causal link between these things surely it should be looked into so that such behavior in victims of childhood sexual abuse can be caught early on and dealt with before it becomes an issue. In all honesty, when you think about how detrimental it is to have such people living among the populace, it really is quite baffling as to why modern medicine hasn't put any resources into studying this subject, because it needs to be addressed.
And no simply executing all pedophiles is not a viable solution, because all you would be doing then is incentivizing child predators to permanently silence their victims. After all, if the penalty for sexually abusing a child is exactly the same for murdering a child, then what exactly would they have to lose by making sure that said child never has the chance to report them? And even if they did end up getting caught, it's not like they can get executed twice.
No, we as a society need to approach this subject seriously for a scientific and medical standpoint, otherwise children are just gonna keep getting victimized by these monsters and then turn into monsters themselves when they grow up.

I just had my video talking about the history of jackass taken down. I showed nothing graphic and deliberately avoided anything bad, muted all swearing etc.
The whole video is utilising footage that is currently on RUclips right now. They took it down for dangerous content. My suspicion is because at the end of the video I talked about RUclipss over bearing censorship is very similar to the issues jackass faced with censorship from cable tv.

However, there’s some things that masquerade as “independent journalism” that is really just misinformation, and sometimes that misinfo can actually lead to lives being destroyed, whether through harassment campaigns or being harmed directly through that misinfo. Obviously we need to be careful, but I think there is a line that should be drawn somewhere.

Even though Charlie is completely correct with his take of #pickasideyoutube, opposing Max's message at the end, I noticed that channels are kind of now shitting on Max and making him out to be a cringy asshole for this trend he created, when it was just a mistake for his hashtag that was not executed in the right way. Charlie and Max are some of my favorites when it comes to RUclipsrs, and Charlie is the perfect middle ground for the situation. I hope Mama Max acknowledges this all in a RUclips video to clear up the stigma surrounding his misguided hashtag.
I don't care about the issues or problems or solutions, I just think that video was one of the most cringe things I've seen in my entire life.

The issue of dark content getting taken down is so serious, information is one of the most powerful things we have. Taking down videos exposing bad actors to warn potential victims and reduce bad peoples influence is short sighted and horrible. History content is one of the best ways to both learn about and understand the lessons of history in a fun way but mentioning the dark parts that need to be talked about results in strikes. Independent creators have made incredible horror and arg content on this platform only to have their vision and creativity nerfed. Channels that talk about and try to help/inform people about abuse go from safe spaces to overly censored and half as effective. When things are catered to the advertisers everybody loses, the creators, the viewers, and RUclips’s wide variety of content to draw people in.

I actually think the "pick a side" strategy is brilliant. It has generated a lot of attention and is simple to digest. I clicked on this video which was also titled "pick a side YT" purely because of the title. I am now aware of a problem that I didn't know existed.

Well, this aged badly! Not Charlie's fault.... but as of today, we all know Mamamax is a creep, and his channel is on its dying breath. And the world was a little better for it. Using such a horrific problem for his own clout, his own bank account, faking it and threatening creators to get millions of subs. He never made a million. And now, he's losing 50K/day+. Deleted his vids. Turned off comments. Dude's outta here! YAY!!!!!!!!!!
The real issue is how RUclips just handles every issue that its creators has in a singleton way when there are clear systemic problems, and never address the root issues, preferring to sweep things under the rug. I think the first instinct of the site would be, when a shitstorm happens, "Okay, our solution is to bring MamaMax's video back. We'll keep letting other investigative videos get struck though." And it's proven effective because people just seem to forgive and forget when individual creators are restituted, while those who don't have a Twitter following have no recourse. RUclips sticks their head in the sand and tries to pretend there's no problems if the problems are tricky to address.
A big movement that doesn't back down unless something internally changes for the better is needed. Because I suspect that even if it's not at the top, there's still people within RUclips that have conflicts of interest that cause them to unfairly strike down content or keep it struck down on manual review. Or very poor/inconsistent rules given to their manual review teams. The algorithm has its own issues, but I don't see how that could be fixed short of removing the automation which would pretty much break RUclips entirely, given how reliant it is on automation.
However, calling unrelated individuals out seems like a bad move. My biggest complaint was that he clearly brought up a personal beef with Corpse -- whoever the hell that even is, I'm unfamiliar with their content -- and clearly and publically tried to do moral ransom. It was a clear attempt to force his hand using rather underhanded public shaming for a completely unrelated and personal issue. He did not need to go into details of how he was personally wronged. That, if you ask me, was the one point where he really crossed the line.
One really has to be careful, either way, when they bring out any sort of 'with us or against us' mentality, because it's an extremely slippery slope. But worse is that I'm concerned that dropping a bomb like this won't even guarantee the core issue be addressed. That is, RUclips sticking their heads in the sand when they make decisions everyone hates, and not listening to criticism. Because, yes -- people ARE sick of how RUclips practices the definition of insanity.
It's probably because most of the site is run by bots, because you'd have to hire so many people o effectively moderate the platform. Bots are very hard to get right due to how they work algorithmically which isn't like humans who go based on rules and emotions.
@@illford6921 Plus, I remember a thing one of my relatives said during a conversation. Take what I say with grains of salt, as I do not want to give a source. This was from a family member.
But they stated that some of the people who had manually moderated such content got exposed to some very traumatizing things and got depressed as a result, even committing suicide in some cases. It may also be morality on their side but personally it makes sense that they want bots. The more you get people to review such content you may get quality of such moderation to decrease, because if you get repeatedly exposed you may lose sensitivity.
Of course, I also think the last point I made isn't a very good argument against it. It's a mixture of both ethics and mechanics, as they are unleashing these systems on those trying to warn others about such content. I feel there should be a system of both flesh and metal because of this. Have bots be the first line of defense, use them as a general sweep. Have them split into different "Task Forces", if you will. Some for illegal activity, some for promoting such, and generally hateful content. Next, have more thorough searches be made. Explicit things will be called out automatically. Use filters to see if such content is hidden in the video, stuff like that. Of course, next thing is to send more ambiguous stuff to humans. They can decide from there, and be the overall moderation.
This is not a perfect system. Some humans are going to potentially be bad actors, and a company can go SCP-5000 at any point, causing such systems to fall far from grace. However, it is one of the best *theoretical* and possible systems I can think of immediately, without considering circumstances.
If AI do eventually gain emotional intelligence, I can't wait to see the therapy bills for the country skyrocket.

Asking for help from someone by accusing them of disgusting things is not a way to start a conversation. Charlie is right on this one. You wouldn't help someone either if the starting point was them calling you a pedophile if you don't do what they say.
Exactly, especially nowdays where people are fueled with emotion. Pointing fingers and making claims towards who youd like to be your allies is bound to backfire on you quickly
I see that and I get where Charlie is coming from, but like- RUclips is pretty much covering up and "protecting" (whether they mean to or not) pedophiles from getting justice or acknowledgement for their wrongdoings. They rather have money and a "clean" RUclips for ad revenue than address predators on their own site and fix it- I can see why Charlie doesn't care for this black and white outlook here, but I think Max is so fed up at this point and has gone through so much that to him this is essentially what they're doing. I think Charlie is definitely right that this is not the productive way to handle things, but I can't necessarily blame Max for being so frustrated when he is just trying to tell the truth. I also think that this is more of a shock factor thing, these are very serious allegations but unfortunately unless something like this happens it's going to be completely ignored by Susan and RUclips. In short this is a risky move but I see this ultimately as a final act of desperation if anything-

If he's fed up, he should take a step back and think about what he can do to fix this issue. There is ALWAYS another option. Every hashtag or argument on Twitter is eventually forgotten. People changed their icons to a black circle and never spoke about it, drifting further and further away from the movement. People hashtag yet another unjust murder and forget about it a week later. These people are not dedicated because they don't have anything to back up their reasoning. To them, being angry is enough to justify a shitty Tweet. To them, being desperate is enough to justify not doing anything else to make change in the world.
Life is more than a goddamn hashtag.

Which to some extent I agree with, Max is trying to fix a very bad problem but the way he is going about is not only counterproductive but also morally wrong. Charlie's video just shows that a lot of people in Twitter don't really do much research (or at the very least they don't truly watch the videos of the content creators they support and the criticisms those content creators receive), and that everyone in there is just all about having a knee-jerk reaction to every topic.
If people had watched MamaMax's video, they would've seen that MamaMax made a very good point about the issue with RUclips striking down hard on content creators who focus on more darker, more serious themes just because the platform doesn't want to have its reputation tarnished. That's extremely bad because RUclips is supposed to be a place where content creators could make whatever content they like, as long as it doesn't disobey the rules and regulations. Taking down MamaMax's video because of an animated ass crack without taking in the full context of the video itself (or even politely asking MamaMax to just censor the animated ass crack because the video's message is pretty important) is certainly a dick move from RUclips.
However, cancelling Charlie, or anyone else for that matter, and saying that he sides with pedophiles just because he criticized what MamaMax did on Twitter is completely illogical, biased, and a knee-jerk reaction to having someone not agree with what MamaMax did.
I find it alarming how RUclips, Twitter, content creators, and especially the fans, have little care for context and criticism. It's sad to see that just because someone doesn't agree with your approach to a truly just cause is automatically seen as a person who is in the side of the villains, without even giving them the chance to properly explain their side or take.
It's truly saddening. It seems like people have become too sensitive with genuine and constructive criticism nowadays, that people instantly label those who criticize certain things that they did (albeit for a good cause) just because they didn't agree with their actions.
I feel like somebody needs to grow a pair and send RUclips a lawsuit
