During ANTIQUES ROADSHOW’s 2023 stop at the Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage, we met Elder Culture Bearer Margaret Rose Nakak who gave us the inside scoop on how to make a traditional ice cream recipe that has been passed down for generations.
Margaret Rose Nakak, traditional name Olarrana, is Inupiaq and Yup’ik and was born in Nome, Alaska. Her grandfather is from Big Diomede Island, her grandmother is from St. Michael, and her sister is from Stebbins. Nakak means to dive in Inupiaq.
ANTIQUES ROADSHOW's three episodes from Alaska Native Heritage Center kick off on Monday, Jan 8 at 8/7c on ‪@PBS‬, the PBS App, and right here on RUclips.
