Some parts of songs that I can recognize here are "Power Metal", "Death Trap", "Metal Storm/Face the Slayer", and one or two from the "Hell Awaits" album. Kerry played a show with Pantera in 89 at Joe's Garage and he played rhythm guitar for a few songs, including the songs in this video. This is historic stuff! Thanks for sharing!

@Dado Valiente Funny enough and this is hard to believe but Kerry King is the teacher here, apparently it was Kerry that showed Dime how to make darker, more in your face riffs, this is one of the reasons their sound changed in the late 80s from glam to harder shit.

@@harrycallahan9143 how the hell is Kerry the teacher here when it's Dime showing Kerry the intro before the solo on the Pantera song power metal? And news flash. At the same time Pantera was glam. So was Slayer. They were called Dragon Slayer and they used to dress up in leather and spikes and poof their hair up and wear eyeliner and isht. And let's not forget kerry is a rhythm player. And I'm sorry but a rhythm ain't teaching isht to the lead. It's doesn't work like that. That's like putting the trailer in front of your truck thinking you're gonna give the truck a break. And lastly. It wasn't Slayer that initially made Dime and Vinny want to be harder. It was when they met James Hetfield. It's documented with like pictures and all kinds of isht. Dimes even said that like 1000 times in almost every interview. Rita will tell you the same thing. So will Kerry.

      @@noname-jr1vo Dimebags Wikipedia...
Abbott was a fan of the Southern rock band ZZ Top,[44] and he was influenced by the band's guitarist and lead singer Billy Gibbons.[72] He said in 1993: "I'm not a super blues player, but I was exposed to the Texas blues sound while I was growing up, and that definitely rubbed off on me."[113] Abbott was also influenced by contemporary metal guitarists such as Kerry King of Slayer.
Well I guess that solves that mystery, why you crying about this? I've seen interviews where even Phil said Slayer had a massive influence on their sound.
Slayer was never glam, their music was nothing like glam, they wore eyeliner and studs as they said to try and look (dark and evil) like their heros Mercyiful Fate & Venom, its like saying the Norway black metal scene are fucking glam because they wear makeup too.
And here's a news flash for you buddy!
The band's early image relied heavily on Satanic themes that featured pentagrams, make-up, spikes, and inverted crosses.[5] Rumors that the band was originally known as Dragonslayer, after the 1981 film of the same name, were denied by King, as he later stated: "We never were; it's a myth to this day.

One major skill that many musicians lack compared to the pros is ENDURANCE. It is one thing to be able to play a song or riff, but it is a whole other thing to perform them good enough live with no pauses or mistakes while being up to speed. Try to play almost any Slayer song without breaking a sweat, it's damn near impossible.

I agree Its pretty normal for me. The 1st Slayer album I got for Christmas was the "Live Undead" picture disc (remember thoe's?) And the 1st song I heard was "The Final Command" I just remember playing Captor of Sin over and over. Ive heard alot of people complain about the Show No Mercy album having shitty production, and I never understood that. I still listen to all tose songs today.
