I had never heard this song (the original version) until I moved to the city of Detroit with my family in 1989. I have searched for this song for years because it touched me so much. I had this on repeat and played it everyday. Thanks for posting this version.
These ladies voices are beautiful, powerful song. Wow after all these years, this song still makes me emotional. I remember hearing it on radio station FM 98, Manson and Ducey in the morning. I was super young back then. Detroit 313 for life!!!!!
@@justynak3867 Happy Wednesday, Queen, I slept in my vehicle ( No Drug Issue) got a job and in 2020 I'm in a Great place.. Owner my Home et cetra.. Our Father (God) is Sooooo Marvelous. I Pray that you stay Strong keep your Head held High and you Receive nothing but the Best on Purpose 🙏🏽🤗
WOW, I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THIS SONG TOUCHED TO INSPIRE SO MANY LIVES I, WAS VERY IMPRESSED TO LEARN ALSO THAT MS. DEXTER ATTENDED THE SAME SCHOOL AS I DID, MANY YRS. LATER AS I DID WITH GREAT DEDICATED TEACHERS THAT WAS THERE TO SHARE THEIR AMAZING TALENT AS WELL TO COMMUNICATE AND EDUCATE THE YOUNG GIFTED TALENT FOR TOMORROW FUTURE AND ALTHOUGH HOMELESS WAS NEVER A PART OF OUR CREATOR'S MASTERPLAN BUT IT WAS AN HONOR FOR ME TO HONOR THIS AMAZING YOUNG LADY'S GIFT TO SHARE AND WITH ALL DO RESPECT TO CARE ABOUT SOMEONE LESS FORTUNATE THAN HERSELF, AND BUT NEVERTHELESS "THIS IS ALSO A "RICH BLESSING" AND A GREAT REFLECTION OF A GENUINE CLASSIC SONG CALLED "THERE'S SOMEONE WORST OFF THAN I AM"
I first heard this track on Andy Peebles Soul Train on BBC Radio One in 1988. I bought the album, The Flight, which the song is taken from and have since managed to purchase the 12" vinyl single. These ladies can sing. Such a haunting track.
Kathy Polo had a brother go Schizophrenic right when this was out...took me this long to ever listen to it again, 'til now...ouch...sounds so much like him-the hopelessness, etc..
I believe my old school mate (Go Cooley Cardinals ! Detroit)...Ricky Lawson on drums?...think he's passed, after Yellow Jackets/Michael Jackson/Phil Collins et al...
I bought this CD back in 1988, the same year that the Perry Sisters (aka Perrí) were on an extensive tour with Anita Baker promoting her "Rapture" album. This "remix" (whatever) version is a bit "busy." I like the original album version better. Some original songs should be left alone.
