My wonder is if the tech level is so high that you can create anything in a matter of minutes, how come you can't disassemble everything? So you just made an unscheduled delivery of components from a rocket given there is tech that allows to losslessly disassemble the rocket (like what habitat builders do). Yeah, you did use the resources that are property of alterra, but you didn't burn them, just hoarded them all into a structure that will be much easier to collect all at once.
You know, I never thought about how involved the player has to be in creating all this crazy technology. I kind of thought the computer did most of the heavy lifting. Great video as always man!
Not to forget the most important feature, the Cave Crawler lure, which is so strong that it makes Cave Crawlers able to jump from the ocean floor up to the platform although they aren't even able to swin. Paired with advanced virus cultures this would hypothetically make the Neptune Rocket a perfect long range biological weapon of mass destruction. But of course something like that would never really happen.
I mean I don't see why it would be any better then any NBC a civ that advanced would already have.... And the risk is honest to great as if it's so deadly an accent civ was willing to shot down any and all ships in orbit and you are the only people who knew who would use such a thing?
It sure is nice too that Altera programed the AI to not launch the rocket if you haven’t deactivated the weapons platform, just in case you forgot. I’m not sure how they figured out the defense system in the first place, but it sure is convenient

Everyone, I am one of the scientists in the Peeper Space Program (PSP). I have successfully discovered a new way to launch our very helpful Peeper volunteers into orbit. It requires the Neptune Rocket and around 5 reaper leviathans strapped to the sides. The Rocket itself will allow for the mass transportation of Peepers into orbit, and the leviathans will provide as a sustainable fuel source for the rocket.
Saw one of your videos and immediately subscribed. Incredible really to see a smaller channel (by todays youtube standarts anyways 5k is quite a lot tho still) make such high quality videos that are fun to watch while still giving you all the information you need. I have no clue how it's possible to talk about a topic in a serious way while at the same time also making a random joke that perfectly fits whatever you're talking about. I really don't care if it takes a while for a video to come out if this is what can be expected (and from what I've seen it can be) truly incredible!
The Neptune rocket is equipped with several large lockers for the sim feel because let's be honest there's literally no reason for that storage to exist
I only have one problem with the Neptune, which is after the first time building the rocket it just feels like a massive chore. On the first play though it feels exciting but everywhere after that it just feels like an unnecessary grind
I can't remember but wasn't it emailed to the Captain's Quarters or did you need the access codes from the Captain's Quarters in order to open the blueprints sent to you?
Also, didn't the Aurora AI say the player is the Captain once they made planetfall, so if the blueprints were sent, it'd go to the current Captain of the ship... so it was specifically but not specifically meant for the player.

I love how there is only enough life support for one person but at the time they sent the designs to the captain, thay had no way of knowing only one survivor would remain. Was every survivor meant to build one of these? That would be a hell of a dept chain 😅
Fun fact, the rocket cutscene takes place only on the view screens. The rocket never leaves the platform. I knowthis because i had a seadragon clip through the side of the rocket during the cutscence.
This version of that rocket looks different than I remember. Back when I first beat this game it was seated for four, didn't have a gantry, didn't look like that, and most of the rocket's body was in the water. You just walked right into the hatch from the launch platform. Then again the last time I played this game with the intention to beat it was a decade ago. edit: Now that I think about it, it didn't have a time capsule, either. I recall that I was playing the game as it was being developed and I beat it well before it's official release as a complete game. That would explain pretty much ALL of that.
Seriously, as the only survivor Ryley should be getting an entire ship's worth of discovery royalties, not to mention the whole "making it possible to access the planet" thing, plus mapping and construction of initial facilities!
It probably wasnt a huge investment to design. So they just threw it in a computer on the aurora and said “Hey. If you can manage to build a whole ass rocket, you get to come home! No cost to us.”
One of the main reasons how you need ion powdrcells to power the rocket when it is unknown to alterra that these exists, is due to the pda scanning for available power sources and resources available on the planet to survive.
They couldn't let us build underwater due to the nature of the ending sequence. The bubble they put around the ship to play you the animation depends on starting with open sky. The player sits facing their sky and then the birds and the shaking and noise hides the transition to a sky that isnt really the players true sky anymore. If the rocket was under the surface then every player would need a unique transition for their depth and location. They'd need to move the ship.

Late comment. You do peeper space program, but i do a reaper space program. While using an unmanned seamoth to distract the beast, locking it into that animation, attacking the reaper with a knife would bug it and launch it into space. Note: i do not advise as this can put reapers places they shouldnt be. Like the safe shallows...
