When I first played the Isle, I only played Utah and I didn't know about velos being AI...so everytime I died to one I was like "HOW DO THEY KNOW WHERE I AM?" 😂 Helpful guide, Sticky!
Best thing to know about the isle is dont let death get to you. Even the best like sticky die but the better players win more fights and stay alive longer. Know your dino pick one or 2 and main those know your stats and other dino stats know ya map. The more experienced players go to the hotspots to talk fight hunt stay away from them as a new player yeah its boring yeah your gonna want to see the big dinos being new player but your gonna be food if seen. There is a diff between good players and players that play alot and can grow a rex or giga. Some players are just that good with the one dino they can kill 2 of there own species alone. Those are 600+ hr players heck i spent 200 hrs in test level just learning to fight 1v1 wich helps in survial u can use your surroundings and ambush then win easy against dinos that normally kill you. This game is broken but so fun once you learn all this.
If it is raining, keep in mind the moon and sun follow the same path as they do in real life, east to west. It moves reasonably fast too so looking at it will give you an idea of those two directions, which in turn give you north and south easily enough.
Nightshade 46 tbh, nobody cares if they encounter a juvi utah. Lmao, and the fun thing is u can just pester them. But juvi utahs are as annoying and their food is like the velo. So its really not worth even a snack.

Camo is very important at night. People say I'm using boring green-brown unified camos but on the other hand in NV I'm invisible laying in trees/bush, while they flash like crazy and can't hide at all. Velo AI are possible to run away from, if you play in headphones most likely you know which direction they make a call from and you go right opposite way ;) While choosing water source to hang around choose rivers, ponds are concentrating points and are easier to die by. Rivers give more elasticity about the point you want to show up at to take few sips.
Nice Guide I wish I knew this a few days ago, just got the game. I love watching you utah videos taking on bigger dinos. Would you make a movement video on the utah, in combat you are very fluid, Im sure myself and others would like a vid like that.
Extremely good guide for new players as I see questions pop up often, even in game there are players that don't know about AI spawning around when you're hungry. I strongly agree with the ending; wait till full adult. Patience is virtue. I've lost quite the number of dilos/utahs at 80-90% adult because I forget that I haven't reached full potential and am inferior in all ways until full adult. That hiding in log trick is super helpful, too. Didn't think to ever try that one, thanks Sticky. Lastly about weather - I like to travel in the rain because it covers your footprints deterring any would-be stalkers using sniff plus rain sounds somewhat drown out footsteps (that can both be a good + bad thing) but for the most part, good as a juvie when traversing the map.
good trick is also go into sneak to charge your ambush speed and then drink/eat. If something would charge you it won't expect you will have your ambush speed on when you are eating/drinking
Sticky I just found you and i love you man. i have been playing this game since it came out and i still learn so much from watching your vids. Thanks for all the quality content. Keep it up.

Just wanted to say, thank you so much for these videos. They helped educate me and helped me become more confident when fighting others. I just fought a rex as a rex for the first time in a 1v1 and won, I couldn’t have done it without these
On my first day i was a galli trying to befriend a taco. I didnt knew at a time why that fool ran away from me and scream from time time. I even went further and yelled at him "shut up fool, someone will hear us"... anyway few minutes i realsed guy is not right in the head and i moved somewhere else.
I started a friend on Utah. They were completely new and I started them on Utah. I showed them sticky’s video of “Utah verses Rex 1v1” and now he is a terrifying Utah mane... I was playing Rex in the server the other day and he tried to kill me, and he killed me after I grew this Rex for 2 days
Something I’ve found is that when you are starting out it’s good to go into sandbox and get a feel for the game before you actually try to grow a Dino seriously.
im currently growing a giga and you said golf was a hot spot and my newbie dumbutt was like ''ohhhh so thats why theirs always rexes'' you saved my sub giga ty man
Finding food is constantly what I do when growing. I dont care what my hunger is as sub rex I always find ai to make sure I have food near my water. That's how I have my fresh adult rex on server 2.
but looking constantly for food is risky, i hide until food reach 50% or a little more if i heard ai, and stayed near a river, i never go to lakes because most lakes are very risky, with that wayi managed to reach adult rex without many risks.
That works if the server is unpopulated like server 2, if you’re constantly on AI as a sub rex and you’re not careful, the AI will attract predators especially on fuller servers. I’ve never died to starvation, its not a concern compared to other players.
Ai only spawns when hunger drops below 70%. If you're at 71%+ and you're hunting ai that has spawned in, someone else is nearby that is hungrier than you are. I'm a noob and not good at fighting, but I like to keep my hunger below 70% so that ai will spawn near me and I can watch it to see who comes after it. I use the ai as bait. Of course, since I hate KOS if I'm not starving and being on a giga, it's just fun to run out of a bush (that I've been watching from) and see the other dino flee when they notice me. My point is, if you're above 70% and you hear ai, someone is probably watching the ai, you or both.
My advice - when you already get into a combat u cant run away from as a juvie utah just start running zig-zag and in circles around the dinos. Juvi utahs are very little and skittish and I've been attacked by many players and they just couldnt hit me even if i ran around their legs, they got confused and then i just sprinted off asap during the right moment and always survived this way so far.
As juvi utah most things dont attack me. The trick is to not even hide and just run up to them jumping and 1 calling and just being goofy. It shows your not afraid of them and just messing around and most of the time they play back and dont kill you and will even let you eat their food. But once you click growth that doesnt work much anymore
Great tips, one thing to keep in mind is if you play the thenaway map gamma doesnt work so everyone uses night vision at night. If your playing v3 alot kf people are turning their gamma up soo they can see you at night almost as good as at day. Hopefully after recode turning up gamma wont work.

Pick a low traffic area near water and afk in a tree watching RUclips videos. Occasional coming out to eat and drink then right back to the tree to afk. This is the best option to not waste 6 hours of your life giga grow groups will get you killed.
Basically the same as utah but with a lot more afk, stay hidden and only go to water to drink (at unpopulated areas), once full on water get a good distance up into mountains or forest so that your AI spawns don’t attract the attention of others. Never ever join a stranger, if you want to be raised by someone or grow w/someone only do it with a trusted person over VC or steam chat.
1-Do not trust bush or grass if the other player set the game to all low visual that may see u, just find a tiny Utah sitting on a bush thinking he invisible, easy quick food. 2-Tree, logs, and rocks don't vanish far away so easily, which makes them better hide spots. 3-Be careful with dark colors, if they up the gamma(monitor or GPU drive) u gonna turn on a very visible black easy to spot, this is impossible to detect ''cheat'' and very easy to do, so many players use it...Full dark color+night can actually be very bad. 4-night vision lets u see eyes with ease, so even during the day is great to find dinos hiding, because of this always try to stick u head inside a tree, rock, or log if possible, if u gonna afk just look down. 5-The only carnivorous faster than u a is Carno, but they are bigger and the turn is awful, find the next forest and they will never get u. 6-travel using forest even if the distance is bigger, never walk in the open if can avoid. 7-Fresh adult still very slow, 0.6-1.0 means 60% off full speed 43.2km x 0.6 = 25.92km, so yeah good luck running from something and u can't hide so easy.
I also take notice of any herbivore bushes If they are stripped bare there may be something near by and I take a sniff. Might be a chance of foot prints

This was very helpful! I just got The Isle two days ago and have only been playing in Sandboxes to learn how to fight. I think I am ready to try and grow in a Survival server. Or I might hang onto the Sandboxes for a bit more before moving onto the real thing.
You should've mentioned that if AI spawns when you're above 72% food (I think?), then that's a good indicator that other carnivores are closeby. Since AI doesn't spawn for you, if you're above 72%. Or was it 78%? Not sure. 70 something it was.
Idk why I always have a difficult time finding AI. I will hear it, but it's so hard for me to follow the sound. Idk if its my headphones or something but when I hear a sound, when i turn around to find what direction it's coming from, it sounds like its coming from all directions. Often times I'll starve to death even though I hear a lot of AI in the area.
A bit late, but I saw a steam thread where a guy had a similar problem. He found out that there was an issue with his headphones pulling sound from the motherboard instead of his audio card. Most motherboards these days have built in audio that's usable. So, I'm not sure exactly what his issue was. But if you're still having trouble with directional audio, you can go into windows audio settings and test. It should be apparent when left and right sound is playing. Also, you can invest $20 into 3rd party surround software, like Razer THX. This software will pull the directional audio from the game and simulate surround sound. You can also fully configure where you hear sounds around you as well equalizer and other useful sound functions. I've used Razer's now defunct Surround Pro for years in other FPS games to echo locate.
A lot of people usually don't shut up in chat and create noise by typing constantly. I cannot be in a group with anyone that isn't in VC, because them typing in chat is just going to get me killed. Lol. Sorry to those who don't have mics but, uh, would rather play alone.
Best thing you can do for survival is going into group chat and looking for a group to add you so it becomes much easier to obtain food and you also have protection from being part of a pack. The challenge is getting TO your group before you die from 1 of 3 possibilities, starvation, dehydration, being eaten, or all of the above.
@@saftigebadewanne5650 Yeah, mostly its luck that gets you. You just have to hope youll find an ai, and I starved to death for the first time yesterday...
Actually in heavy trees and undergrowth a juvie Utah is dangerous. Go from ambush speed to ambush speed and you can hunt anybody. Other juvies can't turn very well and have low stamina. And you're almost impossible to see. I have a video of me as a juvie Utah chasing a full grown spino around the hot springs until finally he ran off.

The challenge is getting TO your group before you die from 1 of 3 possibilities,
starvation,
dehydration,
being eaten, or all of the above.
U know u gotta look for a group in global right?
you forgot hidden as a hotspot
I admin that juvy utah IS invisible in log ONLY in high graphics preset. Turn low and it's clearly visible.
You should do a guide on Giga vs Rex.
Step one:spwan
Step 2:wait for food and water
Step three:grow
Step four: *terrorize*
Can u do one on sucho? Here for this kinda content 🙌🙌
Sit in water all day and only get up to drink or eat; return to water.

I played as a Utah then an Ai velo attacked me. I killed him first but after those injuries he gave me, my life also ended after 3 seconds
I just always go to port and sit somewhere where other dinos can’t get
You should make a vid playing as austro
step 1 dont have bright skin
step 2 get good spawn
step 3 go to food n water
step 4 sit in log

Nice video. But growing Uthas isn’t too hard in my opinion
Keep in mind new players might not think the same way
I know. But sometimes you could even starve with the knowledge if you don’t have any luck so...
@@saftigebadewanne5650 Yeah, mostly its luck that gets you. You just have to hope youll find an ai, and I starved to death for the first time yesterday...
I usually head to port
Actually in heavy trees and undergrowth a juvie Utah is dangerous. Go from ambush speed to ambush speed and you can hunt anybody. Other juvies can't turn very well and have low stamina. And you're almost impossible to see. I have a video of me as a juvie Utah chasing a full grown spino around the hot springs until finally he ran off.
