I love blazers, but not those enormous oversized ones that designers are pushing now; I love a classic fit. I discovered knit blazers years ago, they give the structure of a blazer, with the comfort of a cardigan. I have added them in my basic colors and neutrals over the years and wear them so much. I recently added small, square shoulder pads to mine and they look even better. They are also great for daytime indoor wear, like in cold offices, restaurants, theaters, etc., where a conventional lined wool blazer might be too warm or restrictive. I wear more casual jackets, too, but I feel my best in a blazer, my figure looks better with some structure. Cardigans always look frumpy on me, I save them for at home.

I wear tall socks or tights with my sweater dresses that match my boots, often, they both match the dress, too. With my 2-2.5” heels, this helps visually lengthen shortie me.

Knit dresses are my absolute favorite thing to wear. I need lightweight, breathable fabrics, though, no acrylic and little or no poly, rayon is perfect. In the cool season, I just add boots, belt (if needed) and blazer and I can go anywhere, in comfort. I love the tan with the green, not so much the black. Most current styles are straight-cut like your green one, but I love the ones with A-line or pleated skirts, too.

That was fun. Thank you for all the great ideas. I've worn a knit maxi dress once, but didn't know what to do with it so it didn't get much use. I can't wear belts since I'm so short waisted. I love the idea of wearing a sweater, moto or blazer with it.

the shorter sweater option for the dress (toward the beginning) was a great way to wear it. The longer length was nice, but once you shortened it, the difference was amazing! And thanks for the tip on getting the tights from Target - I was wondering what I was going to wear with the sweater dress I got for cold weather!

The blazer, dress and boots was classic, I would pair dresses with long boots the look is more cleaner. Have been considering pairing sweater with dresses. The shorter sweater does work better with the proportions. This green shade almost appears similar to teal.

Lovely dress and great styling options. I have a sage green knit dress that I really must wear more often- not maxi though, having tried a couple in store and been swamped by them. The shorter length seems to offer better proportions for my 5'1" frame and a sportier more youthful look in my 70s. It's a great item for autumn or early spring, my favourite layering pieces being a red cropped leather jacket, another red fitted knit jacket, or short denim jacket. Yes, I love a red and green combo! I've tended to wear these outfits with white sneakers, and am still trying to figure out a tights and booties otion that doesn't cut me off at the ankle. I also like a belt, providing it is a low contrast to either the dress or jacket. Always a work in progress Jamie!

Jamie, I love your styling videos. We have the same coloring which helps me select clothes. I purchased the dress in green and have worn it with a cognac leather moto, tan belt and tan sock booties. I tried my black moto with the dress but thought it had too many zippers, etc. and seemed to overwhelm me. It looked great on you. My cognac moto is more subdued. Thank you for your sweet spirit and style.

YOU look amazing in all of these, and that green looks great on you; however, for we larger, big busted, big bellied women, I think it might looks very different (and not in a good way) 😞I liked the tan/camel with the green, but definitely not the black, it's too dark on dark. Besides brown, try RUST with that green too, especially in a great scarf and jewelry.

Wow! This is a 5-star video for me because so many questions were answered. First, thank you for all your hard work on these styling videos! Second, my absolute favorite was the turtleneck sweater over the dress…so fresh and fun. What do you think about a poncho with a large belt? As you can imagine I’ve been loving my tights this fall. Swedish Stockings is another great source with very fast shipping. Thanks again Jamie…so many options to give new life to my knit dresses.

Aww thanks Susan! I am glad you liked it! My favorite was the sweater over the dress as well! I would try the poncho with a belt! I thought of that but the color of my poncho did not go with it. As long as it's not too bulky I think it will work great!

Nice combinations! My favorite is the black blazer with the black boots with a heel. If you wanted to layer a sweater and didn't have a turtleneck, couldn't you use a crew neck sweater and add a scarf with the right pattern and proportion to hide the dress at the neckline?
