  • A construction crane 70 floors up in midtown Manhattan partially collapsed Monday due to strong winds from Hurricane Sandy. The crane remains dangling over W. 57th St. Buildings around the 850 foot tall crane were evacuated as workers tried to secure the collapsed crane on the One 57 luxury high-rise. Metal debris, including ten- to 12-foot steel poles, fell to street level, but no injuries were reported. The crane had been inspected on Friday before the storm.
