I attended one of Carlos Berganzi's last performances of "Elizir" in the USA - it was a performance by the Baltimore Opera. At intermission, it was announced to the audience that Carlos was suffering from voice problems but was going to sing the work anyway. It's an alternative that (rightly or wrongly) some tenors have employed to allow them to take the phrase to a high A (as he does), instead of the G (the same peak as the earlier phrase). Pretty, but even a leggiero or tenore di grazia must address the appoggio and passaggio in the classical technique, otherwise too close to pop singing.
You gave a little in the first chiedo and the last.

But then "...sembro.." what was that low part? He lost the air and just tried to survive or what? As a whole, the singing is thin and uninteresting. A karaoke kind of. Ask yourself, would you buy a record? Che più - the più should be more (or least as much) dominant as Che but can't see it. And so on and so on.. Anyway, he is a singer but there are thousands of similar singers. By the way, I didn't even realise he was singing the cadence, I must have slept Maybe we should have some web site for adequate singers. We all can't be Carusos.

I can't imagine buying a record of Caruso either. I have this theory that all these singers from bygone eras weren't nearly as good as we make them out to be, and we would be quite disappointed if we could hear what they really sounded like. Take the following recording for example, ( ruclips.net/video/y9sDs5I-dTQ/видео.html ) I find Caruso's tempo painfully slow and he takes enormous liberties with the rhythm practically destroying the rhythmic pulse in places. I also find his vibrato to be uneven and quite unpleasant, not to mention that he is frequently slightly under pitch. Maybe I would feel different if I could hear him today live, but I'm guessing I wouldn't.
