    What a beautiful place for a quiet walk. There's nothing like walking in nature to find some inner peace.

    What a delight to see Tom again for a fascinating and informative conversation. I learnt lots (although how much I'll remember is another thing!)

      Yes, in one ear and out the next. I know that feeling.

    Tom has a job to envy! Glad to hear that beech trees thrive there, our village’s name is derived from the Croatian word for beech. (Beautiful jacket, Richard)

      I do like Beech trees - something rather majestic about them.

    I love arboretum (aroboreta for the plural?) - this time of year is wonderful to see all the leaves. I think the west dean arboretum is in safe hands with Tom!

    That was exactly the right question to ask about labelling the trees! It’s a nightmare to identify them!

    What a great video, Richard. Have visited West Dean and its gardens frequently but never ventured out to the arboretum. I understand there is a memorial to Edward James somewhere there. I feel a spring/early summer wander is required. (A BE walk?although I guess the admission charge covers the arboretum)

    Why not dedicate a tree to each regiment in the British army. This would make a great point of focus for people to come especially on remembrance day.

    Hi Richard,
    This may not be your thing, but would you have a video how England and the UK changed economically in the last 40-50 years. Brexiteers cite, in part, your country's move to a service economy have adversely affected income distribution.
    Even a piece to camera would be good.
    Also on the wishlist: a little bit about entrepreneurship in the tech and biotech sector. I know that Oxford/Cambridge have a startup scene, but what about Brighton.
    Thanks

    • @RichardVobes
      @RichardVobes  5 лет назад

      Hi A b, I can only express an opinion on these topics, but I really cannot give much in detail sadly. Also, the way the Internet is at the moment, mention of Brexit and anything mildly on the right brings realms of abuse and potential banning from social media.

      Do you mean that in 1987 the trees came down in your park when you were a child?
