Tom has a job to envy! Glad to hear that beech trees thrive there, our village’s name is derived from the Croatian word for beech. (Beautiful jacket, Richard)
I love arboretum (aroboreta for the plural?) - this time of year is wonderful to see all the leaves. I think the west dean arboretum is in safe hands with Tom!
That is a nice garden, I do like trees, what they are doing there is great. You should go back next year, that would be loverly to see. Well done Richard idid enjoy.
Very lovely Autumn walk! Just beautiful!!!❤🧡💛🍁🍂I remember your vid when you visited the green houses - I was so disappointed I didint live in England so I could come visit the plant sales!😄 Yes, I think it is a must for a late Spring walk to come back & visit when all the wild flowers are in bloom!🌼🌻
What a great video, Richard. Have visited West Dean and its gardens frequently but never ventured out to the arboretum. I understand there is a memorial to Edward James somewhere there. I feel a spring/early summer wander is required. (A BE walk?although I guess the admission charge covers the arboretum)
Hi Richard, This may not be your thing, but would you have a video how England and the UK changed economically in the last 40-50 years. Brexiteers cite, in part, your country's move to a service economy have adversely affected income distribution. Even a piece to camera would be good. Also on the wishlist: a little bit about entrepreneurship in the tech and biotech sector. I know that Oxford/Cambridge have a startup scene, but what about Brighton. Thanks
Hi A b, I can only express an opinion on these topics, but I really cannot give much in detail sadly. Also, the way the Internet is at the moment, mention of Brexit and anything mildly on the right brings realms of abuse and potential banning from social media.
What a beautiful place for a quiet walk. There's nothing like walking in nature to find some inner peace.
Absoluetly!
What a delight to see Tom again for a fascinating and informative conversation. I learnt lots (although how much I'll remember is another thing!)
Yes, in one ear and out the next. I know that feeling.

I do like Beech trees - something rather majestic about them.
Very nice, Tom seems a very knowledgeable chap.

It certainly looks like it. Cheers Matthew.
It' a long time since I did my Latin Tables but I think it's correct
An especially good video about an interesting place with a very obviously qualified expert. Thanks.
Next door to the Weald & Downland Museum. Beautiful location.
Yes, that's right.

I would like to organise a BE walk there in the spring.
Thank you Richard and Tom a very enjoyable video. It would be great Richard if you could go back in the spring.
Hoping to organise a BE walk there in the spring.

First Class production again Richard......my word,Tom's got a plum job hasn't he?,great stuff, superb interesting video.
A lovely place to work for sure.
That was exactly the right question to ask about labelling the trees! It’s a nightmare to identify them!
You are telling me.
Love West Dean, only been to the gardens though so i think i will venture up to the arboretum in the Spring. Another nice informative video Richard.👍🏻
Well worth a walk up there - I hope to arrange a BE walk up with the group.

Another excellent vidoe Richard
Excellent Vobes Vidoe(TM)
Thanks very much.
Very interesting. Tom seemed familiar and he said he'd only been at West Dean for about 6 months, have we seen him before Richard?
Yes Tom was at Parham House before where I interviewed him.
@@RichardVobes - Ah yes, of course. Thank you.
Why not dedicate a tree to each regiment in the British army. This would make a great point of focus for people to come especially on remembrance day.

@@RichardVobes Fair enough.
87 took its trees from childhood park
Do you mean that in 1987 the trees came down in your park when you were a child?
