  • There has been a lot in the news lately about Nebraska and the weather: everything from floods to tornadoes! thankfully, we are all okay and so is Pepper! (oh and our buildings and equipment.) Many Nebraskans lost their homes. Then, a few days later, we experienced solar storms that cut out our tractors valuable GPS navigation technology. In this video, we assess the flooding we experienced (so thankful to finally get some rain!) and replant our fields. Thank you for watching today's video, and we'll see you in the next one! If you want to see the full news clips from the beginning of the video, I got them from these links below and use them under fair use.

    Driving tractors to school reminds me of when I was young. We were tomato farmers in Florida. One day, I drove a tractor up to the window of a McDonalds for lunch. The manager came running out and told me to get the hell off the property with the tractor. He was a real $hit..
    Later that season, a fungus hit most tomato farms and you could not find a tomato anywhere, except our farm, as we were spared. That same manager came to our farm to buy tomatoes and my dad went out and told him to get his truck off our farm! What goes around, comes around.

    • @HurairahFarm
      @HurairahFarm 26 дней назад +3

      That manager was just a little shit! Laura and Grant took their tractor thru the drive-thru on camera once. Did you see that episode? I can imagine that was one hell of a sight...I mean how often do you see a farm tractor going thru the drive-thru? Some places have a 24-hour drive-thru even tho their lobby isn't open 24 hours! And, at least here, they don't want to serve you at the drive-thru if you walk up. I think it's stupid to have a restaurant be closed up with only the drive-thru open and then refuse to serve people for walking up. NOT EVERYONE HAS A BLOODY CAR!!! I had that happen to me and I said 'what do you expect me to do, go home and come back with a vehicle?' and they said that they did and even asked me how long that would take me! I was like 'once I leave right now, I'll never come back'. I mean what's the point then? I've got food at home. That manager learned a BIG lesson that day...Farm round to find out! Well, when the tomato blight came round...he FOUND out!

    That takes me back many years. As a kid, I remember using a two row planter very similar to that to plant our entire farm. Of course, the farm was small. Dad thought he went to a big time farmer with when he upgraded to a four row, no till planter. He would be shocked at how big the equipment is now and how much you can plant in a day. You watch the news that covers the storms and see the impact to buildings and houses. This video shows the periphery effect to the fields and what the effort involved to recover. I find it interesting that the rows where corn that was not flooded out, is popping through and is adjacent to the rows from last year. Is that on purpose? That implies alternating where the seeds are planted each year. Thanks for sharing, chin up and keep moving forward!
