this is ok but the version from live and dangerous is MUCH better mate. also try chinatown for some quite superb guitar work first from snowy then scott at the end. legendary.

@@BrandonFaul Yeah, you've been given a bum steer there. The audio on Live & Dangerous is really, really good quality and given that Thin Lizzy were first and foremost a live band a lot of their songs take on an energy in the live versions they don't show in the studio. Emerald is perhaps an exception, because even in the studio it's full-on, but the L&D is definitely worth checking out, not just for the guitar work but Philip Lynott's vocal and bass performance and Brian Downey's awesomely hyperactive while at the same time laid-back drumming (a drummer friend of mine said once that Emerald was the only song that ever made him break a sweat).
Final note: the YT comment you quoted name-checking Gary Moore is in error - the studio version of Emerald had Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham on guitars, Brian panned left, Scott on the right.

How anybody can say that the audio sound for Live and Dangerous is really poor is totally beyond me.....!! Live and Dangerous is still regarded, over 40 years later as o e of the best live albums ever captured on vinyl. Do yourself a favour mate and track it down. It will leave you open mouthed and you will then understand why Thin Lizzy are regarded as one of the greatest live hard rock bands ever.

The Emerald is the Island of Ireland and Gary Moore wasn't on this album.

I didn't want to say it but we that are concerned all know Emerald is the green. Orange is the enemy. sorry just how it is mate....Phil is known to have discussed this with the members of the band, who were less political...Phil was Irish and despised Paisley and all things Orange. Having said that, I hope the troubles in Eire are over and everyone involved can have a cry and forgive the unforgivable...peace and love is what every sane person desires...

Phil was born in England and and was only half Irish. He was a junkie though.
