Coming from an Indian Brahmin family, I truly appreciate the effort taken by the whole team involved in the making of this video. It's very important that awareness is spread on this topic, especially amongst the Brahmin community 'coz what happens in such households is complete isolation during this time, where the menstruating girl will have to wash her own clothes, utensils and she will not be allowed to touch any of the articles at her home. She will have to depend on others for everything, may it be food, clothes, water or even sanitary pads. It becomes so awkward that even the servants and guests at home would know her dates more than herself. And if there is a temple in the adjoining areas of her home, then it gets worse. It is said that there used to be a time when separate shelters/homes made out of hay, wood, etc. would be used for such women to stay during those times, but it has been shortened to simply isolation for the sake of 'upholding purity' during these times. The worst part is that the moodswings or strange feelings that the girl has during these times is something which nobody would be bothered about and to top it all, making her wash her own clothes, utensils and setting restrictions on her would just negatively impact her own mental and physical health.

The mela is celebrated in this believe that mother earth becomes unclean like other women's menstrual seclusion.The door of the temple is closed for 3 days and nobody enter. After 3 days devi Kamakhya is bathed & prayed. It's a tradition & i'm not against any traditions of temples.

Periods gives lot of lessons....like I learnt how to sleep in just one position whole night😅... standing n sitting after teacher comes to class is really irritating on the days of overflow... Yeah sometimes cramps are worse than ever but gradually it becomes a routine of our life❤️.... And yess when I go to shop for pads , I don't ask for black polybag nor I take it ,even if they offer bcoz using Plastic bags is dangerous for our environment and secondly I don't care if others feel ashamed seeing me holding sanitary napkins 🥰

Well our parents taught us to buy pads in black carry bags but now we do buy this openly because it's a natural thing we girls face every month. Yes people do stare at you when you go to shop and say i want a pad(not whispering). But we are successful to ignore these "civilised educated people". Well luckily, my parents and boyfriend are so supportive about periods. I get whatever I need to make myself comfort. My boyfriend understands my moodswings and treat me with love ❤️ My family doesn't follow any of period myths! It becomes a bit easy when you have people to support you through periods. And I really am not at all embarrassed talking about periods! But some of my friend's family aren't, they can't use same washroom, have to sleep on the floor, can't go to kitchen, can't touch anyone, and so so many myths! I wish that all parents and boyfriends becomes like mine! It doesn't make it completely painless, but it helps alot! I can't imagine if my family would be conservative. Well all this rules were right in older times, as the scene then was different, but nowadays I don't think we should follow all this bullshit!

And mood swings, loosing blood without any fucking reason will cause anyone mood swings. Those cramps are just unbearable. Sleeping in one position whole night. You can't even bear 1% of pain in your whole life which a girl bears during her period, in those 5-7days. Build up man😏🙄
