    0:51 Setting Up Our System
Setting up irrigation systems feels really tedious to me, and I would much rather be planting. Since we live in Southern California, though, irrigation is incredibly important!
Starting from the hose bib, it's nice to use a splitter so you can still have a hose attached in addition to your irrigation system.
With a spigot dedicated to our system, we start off with a timer. This allows us to schedule everything and serves as the brain of the entire system.
Right off the timer, we have a pressure regulator. This is really important for drip systems because it controls the PSI. Without one, you can blow off bits or constantly fight with your system. If you are using well water, you will also want to use a filter.
Because our hose bib is 3/4" inch and our supply line is 1/2", we have a compression fitting to bridge the sizes.
From there, you just build out your pieces to feed your needs! Other pieces you may use in your setup are:
    -Supply line
    -Barbed Elbows
    -Other Intersections like T's
    -Emitters
If you're looking for more guidance, stick around for Part 3!

Hose fittings are 3/4 HOSE thread which is slightly different than PIPE thread. If you try to put the two together it won't seal. Also, to make compression fittings and the smaller 1/4 inch tubing and fittings easy to put together HOT WATER. I take a thermos of hot water to my garden, dip the tubing ends in and voila! they go together easy peasy. Tubing, they all say 1/2 but the outer diameters can range from .620 to .710 so you need to remember what size your original tubing is or look for connectors that cover all the sizes.

Perma-loc twist lock type fittings will change your life!! They're a little more expensive but definitely worth it for a smaller home garden setup imo

Thank you for doing this series. Will you show us how to fit an existing overhead sprinkler system and convert it to a drip system in a raised bed and with pop up sprinklers in the ground?
You’re awesome. We need this in San Diego!

I added the filter to my system so that I can fill the filter with liquid fertilizer every other week. Drip irrigation, city water, raised bed and Smart Pot bags. I use NK = >5, worm tea, or that awful smelling fish emulsion 🤢. No worries about plant burns, delivered right to the soil and roots, and no running around fertilizing one plant at a time, mixing and filling, pouring and swirling.
All suggestions and critiques are welcome.

Very cool! That's something I've considered but haven't done. You just fill up the filter with it?

I have question why are you taping a fitting sealed by a gasket? Should not be done

We have very mineralized water here. It corrodes fittings very quickly. This is why we do it.
