- What happens if you kill the first mini boss on Returnal? It's obvious you are meant to die here to "officially" start the game. Let's see if it's worth taking down that beast right off the bat!

@FRUYAKI Its sarcasm... The only way to keep playing this game without losing your progress is to put the console in sleep mode and use it for nothing other than Returnal.

Took me so damn long to get a ps5 that I only just started playing this masterpiece. My first run was insane. I beat the miniboss, went on to kill the first ACTUAL boss then upon reaching the desert the first thing I did was scan a dead scout, which turned out to be my very first instance of an infected scout, which killed me instantly, and then I finally got the FUCKING TITLE CARD for the game, what a first experience
I finally got to play it on ps extra, and although I died to the first miniboss, I proceeded to play through the entire game without dying, managed to complete the first and second acts without dying once, I can't even brag about it because no one believes in me. I even have the screenshots of both the trophy and my stat screen minutes apart from each other that show only one death(the one from the start)
@@Condorian_ finally got my ps5, and got the game on psplus, on my very first playthrough, beat act 1.. then got the title card. As a souls expert this game is fun, but not that difficult... not sure what ever one is whining about... ( im totally lying.. ive died 2000 times on the first biome, 10 hours in finally beat phrike, took 7 hours just to find the damn sword. Post like these.. god like player posts.. really annoy me.)

I beat the whole game on my first run, never got the title card :( and then I turned on sekiro, beat genichiro first encounter and his shitty little side hoe, but alas, that win was a loss, because now I can't use prosthetic tools :'(

I don’t know about no damage, but I just got to the credits without dying (beat this enemy and rolled through the rest of the game without much issue) so it’s certainly possible

You die of old age in a cut scene after the third boss so technically it’s not possible story-wise

@@karlwest437 it only takes less then 30 min to get to the mini boss lol so idk what you are talking about than yoy said after you played for another hour but I'm like yeah doesn't take 2 to 3 hours to get to that point
@@karlwest437 yeah you kind of have to take your time bevause if you miss things you may have to go all the way back need to pick up everything you can some make the mistake of not doing that and just going straight and then realize shit I need this or that to unlock something
This game is Fan Fucking Tastic
The upgrades and the gun aren't really much of a bonus. You get those on your first 'proper' run anyway.

You can easily do it, it has two attacks:
-When it jumps at you
-When it inflates and becomes red from behind, meaning it'll rush at you
Just gotta get the timing right. After awhile, there's a delay in the melee attacks
LOL I made it to the final boss of the second biome on my first run. I got mad lucky rolls and managed to get in that certain "zone." Followed all blue paths, too, as I was definitely not trying to miss anything cool. My session was over 2 hours long and when I finally died, I got the Returnal splash screen along with the cut scene and realized that I was probably not expected to make it that far on my first run.
Anyway, this game is fracking awesome. Subsequent runs have not been as successful because that first one made me COCKY and reckless LOL. I played until like 3AM and here is is not even 8AM and I am laying here in bed trying to figure out how to get up and play more immediately without my wife waking up and then reminding me of all the crap I need to do around the house... What I NEED to do is try another Returnal run. Right?
lol. Just remember we have our own cycles too. The game will still be there later. If you rush it that just means it’ll be over sooner
@@ChronoMune Yeah, that is is true...But I do see myself playing this a game lot after I finish the story. In Rogue-like (or Lite) games, the journey is as good or better than the destination, and this game just nails it.
Can't wait to see someone do this game with even dieng once ever seeing the title screen I wonder if it's possible

The game forces a reset after biome 3, so it's probably not possible to run from start to end in a oner.

After Selene died of old age I was brought back to the beginning, then I started to drop like flies.
Definitely possible. After beating the game, I deleted my save to play through from the beginning and ended up going through the whole game without a single death.
There are scripted deaths . Like the first time you reach the tower at the top. It will make you return at least once . Even if the run is perfect
It’s funny because I actually killed the first mini boss, and the game kept on going😂 I’m actually proud of my self, I beat the first big boss as well and made it to the desert before I’ve died for the first time

I got it down to like 10% health, but kept failing the move where it delays its attack a little bit. Cool to see what happens!
I never saw that delay move until my second play through of the game, and it killed me in 3 hits with it…I was trying to figure out what was different because I dodged everything so easily the first time.
Right... that's the one that almost got me. Especially when he covers the entire arena
Love how you cruise the 1st min and then this dude shows up even with me being 3 bosses this dude still is a pain if you stay stationary. You gotta move especially when he glows light red

This is not a boss, but a regular enemy.

I thought this was impossible to survive, I was so close on my first run and then it just goes hyper aggressive.
I had a feeling this miniboss could get killed here in the first encounter but now I'm wondering how the story plays out if the player manages to beat this Miniboss and make it all the way to Nemesis and the beginning of Act 2 without dying
So, I literally just did that, first time playing lol. Ran all the way through without dying once, beat nemesis and "escaped". As far as I can tell not much is different at all

I died here and everywhere else many times, but went on to first try the Main boss in this area, second boss, third, and managed to get the first/mini/some what an ending to the game. I felt stupid and accomplished at the same. Also, I noticed the difficulty varies as the room and monsters shuffle around. (Set ur character to always run and ur dodge to square botton helps)
I was dissapointed that this Boss was too easy after everyone was rantig about the Game being to hard... Now im in those Ruins in the Desert and holy Shit this is what they where talking about

I gotpast this and I think almost out exactly to the boss the first time through and paused it to take a break and when I came back it closed it in rest mode for an update lmao.
I did the first cycle entirely without a death and genuinely thought I beat the game, so glad it went on further honestly can’t stop playing atm

Same, I feel like the enemies don't scale well if you manage to get through this miniboss on the first try. It's also a shame that the game gets a bit weird since Selene is like, both used to and horrified at the notion of being stuck in a time loop if you beat it first try.
So I actually beat it my first time, buuuuuuut I only had like 1 health left. Not too bad...except I also had a malfunction where I would take damage if I picked up an item. And the only way out was to pick up the item to upgrade the weapon to get through the door. Selene dies whilst standing.
I love this game but jesus it’s difficult.

I actually beat this thing first time, but I don’t think that makes me good cause I still can’t make it out the. First biome
I can never avoid that dash attack (unless i get lucky).
My brother avoided death from that thing and had an 8 hour run on his first game.
I was down in 30-35 minutes, that thing killed me. The difference is that I'm still playing.
That enemy is the most difficult in the game in my opinion. Basically unless I mess up, nothing else has killed me besides something called a Severed and the third boss. I'm not counting the second death because the boss bugged out on me (didn't occur to me to just restart the cycle 😒).

I recently tried this on a mates psn account and went on to complete Act 1 with no death. Was pretty well kitted out by the end of the run. Fully cleared every biome.

You can fully heal yourself if you sleep in the bed in your ship. Do that before the boss fight. It heals half life (50%), so just exit the ship after you slept and enter again to sleep once more. This way it's a 100% heal! Hope I was some help! :)

You need to prep. Spend your cash on astronaut and health vial, maximize integrity, increase weapon damage with a good artifact and some good parasites.
Oh I didnt die, didnt know we were suppose to. Has about 2 moves, really basic when you compare to a End game Monster Hunter Elder Dragon.

He’s considerably easier as u play more of the game. In the beginning I was scared of him but now he’s a piece of cake
Did somebody actually loose to the first boss? Managed to get to the snow before dying once (you can't skip death after Act 1). Also, it's funny how people think that game without save is innovation :) All games in 90s were like this - yout die you start from beginning
Well I lost to him, which is justifiable since this is the first time I ever played a rogue like game. I have however improved a lot, and tested my skills by beating the 1st boss with a pistol, and no upgrades.

If you go blackout of game you will see your percentage of the game and start from there
But I didn't beat the boss and I ended up still getting the weapon after I respawned lol but yes if you die after getting the weapon it's gone

There's red flying enemies that shoot rockets. The worst enemy to encounter in my opinion. Even if you dodge the rockets, you can get hit by splash damage. Doing longer dashes seem to help a bit.

I just hv one major complaint for this marvelous game... The lack of autosave when closing the game....
Man i had such an amazing run yesterday, 160% integrity, 45% increased repair, astronaut figure, 7star weapon, parasite that let's u revive and other grt artifacts n consumable... got all before second main boss..
And then light went out because of heavy rain... and woosh everything gone!!!!😭😭😭

Anyone who thinks this is hard never played their previous game. Nex Machina is so unforgiving even on lower difficulties.

I didn't realise you were expected to die against this mini boss. I think the first time I died was when I got to Phrike. This is definitely a GOTY contender. Painfully frustrating dying over and over and having to start from scratch however I never felt like I was being cheated by the game. It's a very addictive game which has stunning visuals and sound design which makes you want to keep playing. The story is interesting but confusing. Had to watch a few breakdowns on YT to understand what was going on. I suppose much of it is left up to the players own interpretation.
I didn't find it too frustrating dying in this game after you've got so far, because by then you've got a new upgrade that allows you to explore new areas you couldn't reach before so you can then go to the next biomes even more prepared.

I found the mini bosses harder than the actual bosses, especially on the final biome. The real bosses are spectacular though. Great game

wait people actually died from this boss my brother doesn't play any games at all and he defeated at start, all it takes is to doge when he glows that's it.
This is a pretty easy fight , shot , dodge , repeat. The only attack that actually can hit you is the rush but it's so telegraphed that you really can't not seen it coming. Very disapointing boss overall, didn't left a good first impression there are bosses from the PSX era that have much better ai and mechanics.

The game is no walk in the park but you get better at it. Platinum is currently at 0.2% but it just got released it's bound to go up. I'm at 33 hrs and beat the fourth boss, one more to go.
I will destroy it and NOTHING HAPPENS!! Only a few orbolites and I continue the map and the only thing I note its that you can advance all the rest of the map unlocking the upgrades of Selene suit, no more!!
