Arizona Dear here This is the very first song i heard Dimash sing when i clicked on Recommended for you not understanding a word but i sure felt it and the tears rolled is is a powerful and emotional song. Autumn Strong is right up there they are the ones that really touch me as well as Day break and Daiddau . I often find myself thinking how a 70 yr. old man from the top of California and a twenty-something from Denmark can have the same response to a song where I know at least one of them has no idea what the song is about, except for the emotion conveyed by the singer. As Dimash sang I got a Bogart/Bergman Casa Blanca feel of a love mean't for someone else, and the melancholic happiness that a person sometimes feels when things go that way. Now I have no idea what the song is about, I could be way off, but that's how it landed for me. I know that you were having an emotional moment too. You know what still kind of upsets me? That Dimash can sing a song like that and rip those emotions out of us and then he can walk away from it like it was just a song!! Daneliya Tuleshova and Angelina Jordan and Morissette from the Philippines can all do the same thing. Oh well, I guess I'd rather be able to respond the way I do than not respond at all. You are wonderful. :) There has been talk and a lot of talk about Dimash's voice, his amazing technique, his stage presence, his enormous ability to communicate with the public, even just through a screen. Everything is correct, it is right, it is true and real. But I firmly believe there is another element that comes into play, fundamental, what makes Dimash The Singer, and that is his healthy contact with his own Essence. And it is basically this element that makes it possible for us to be touched inside and deeply, to the point of getting excited, to experience wonderful feelings, to feel what he wants and is transmitting to us. The narrative and the melody weave (to me anyway) a very closely intertwined story of love, the fear of love lost, fear of loneliness and uncertainty, the ultimate highs and lows of love and that often throughout history Love is portrayed as painful, melancholic, joyous and precarious or even “Love’s Labours Lost” This Russian style is so intricate and gorgeous and evokes the whole spectrum of Love. Dimash’s “Ave Maria, Ave Amore” section really elevates love to the status of angels, juxtaposed with the climax which is desperate and almost a fierce war cry for love. I don’t know the language but that’s my take away. I’m probably completely wrong, but it makes me cry too because it exposes the good and the ugly sides of Love and the human condition no one can truly explain. Xx

He's telling us about his dream-like love. Then he *shows* us the dream in the section remarkably similar to Ave Maria, with a tonal quality that is *not* your usual counter-tenor sound. This is *soprano.* It shouldn't be possible for any male singer. It is for Dimash. He is no longer engaged with the audience, notice? His eyes are closed, or they look up at the ceiling. I’ve read and heard from other reactors that this style of Russian music is renowned for epic, melancholic storytelling arcs. The narrative and the melody weave (to me anyway) a very closely intertwined story of love, the fear of love lost, fear of loneliness and uncertainty, the ultimate highs and lows of love and that often throughout history Love is portrayed as painful, melancholic, joyous and precarious or even “Love’s Labours Lost” This Russian style is so intricate and gorgeous and evokes the whole spectrum of Love. Dimash’s “Ave Maria, Ave Amore” section really elevates love to the status of angels, juxtaposed with the climax which is desperate and almost a fierce war cry for love. I don’t know the language but that’s my take away. I’m probably completely wrong, but it makes me cry too because it exposes the good and the ugly sides of Love and the human condition no one can truly explain. Xx

I’ve listened to this performance about 100 times and every time I cry and feel that this song and Dimash’s singing has healing qualities which I can’t articulate. I have a lifelong physical disability, but since I’ve been listening to Dimash daily my pain levels have decreased significantly. I've listened to this song dozens of times. I *still* shed a tear when you presented it. There is so much beauty, from start to finish... Igor and Dimash are at the top of their game in this one. Amazing.
The narrative structure of this song is simple, but it's also genius. Let me explain.
In the first section, the longest, Dimash sings to the audience. He's telling us about his dream-like love. Then he *shows* us the dream in the section remarkably similar to Ave Maria, with a tonal quality that is *not* your usual counter-tenor sound. This is *soprano.* It shouldn't be possible for any male singer. It is for Dimash. He is no longer engaged with the audience, notice? His eyes are closed, or they look up at the ceiling. He's *dreaming.* Then Dimash wakes; he reengages with the audience, and he tells us how the dream made him feel. Which is *energized,* able to do impossible things.
Which he proceeds to do with that sustained belted note held perfectly for 17 seconds. I usually forget to breathe. At the end, he's not the one gasping; I am. Is he *trying* to make us faint?
In the US military, young officers learn how to present briefings. This is the lesson: tell your audience what you intend to tell them. Then tell them. Then tell them what you told them. 3 times, the message arrives. That's how you get the message to stick in people's heads. This song's narrative structure is quite similar - and the message sticks in our heads. Brilliant.
