Reverend Staley, thank you for the incredible gift you gave to your faithful minions with the Preset collection. It’s not just thoughtful-it’s truly one of the most creative and unique presets in my collection. The attention to detail and the originality of the yellow and green shift of the Wonder preset blows me away. It’s clear that you put a lot of thought into it, it’s a work of art. Thank you again, this was very generous of you. Lastly, the "preaching" at the 15 minute mark is f@cking awesome. SO inspirational. Please do NOT stop the passion, you are the BEST channel on YT. "take care of your neighbors".... that's what it's all about. Peace.
Ben, a lot of people, many photographers included, are reluctant or too shy to jump a fence, walk alone down an empty dark alley, won't wander past some Do Not Enter sign or go bushwacking through forbidden zones. Your mantra works for me. Eyes open, head up, follow your nose and the photos will follow. Thanks for putting this together.
@@nigellee7892 I could be wrong, but it looks like Ben Staley goes it alone. Either way, I'm on my own and always try to figure out the lay of the land and who's around at all times.
This morning I woke up feeling sad. Perhaps the premonition of this video. There are so many stories and questions... and sadness.... That's life, yes, but sometimes tough. The injunction not to waste time in realising our desires or projects really struck a chord with me because, having been retired for 1 year, I'm petrified. Your videos breathe life back into me. Thank you, Ben.
Stumbled upon your channel today and this video was such a wonderful introduction. I love your vibe. Here's to more art. Looking forward to watching more.
Really enjoyed the video and content of this video. For me, wandering about with my camera, devoid of distractions; is such a liberating and joyful experience. Photography helped me to recover from a mental breakdown and has carried me into retirement. Have a blessed day❤️
Thanks for another great video Ben. I rewatched a few of your videos the other day and always find them inspirational. Keep up the great work and I really hope you and your family keep safe with these dreadful fires so close.
I've been a working photographer for 15 years and I so appreciate your content. It inspires and reminds me I GET to do this for a living. Thanks I look forward to the next episode!
I haven't commented on your videos before but I've watched a number of them. Your work is inspiring and beautiful. Thank you for making it; the world is a richer, better place because of your pictures and videos and messages. Today I commented to say that my thoughts are with you and everyone impacted by the fires in LA. Sometimes in an effort to sound upbeat people will say that the loss of possessions from fires, floods, hurricanes or tornadoes doesn't matter, but it does. Still, having experienced myself something similar from flooding in the upper midwest in spring of 1997, I can say that it's possible to rebuild, to heal, to pick up your life and move forward. It's hard, really hard. And exhausting and expensive. But people will go to great lengths to help lift each other back up. LA will rebuild, come back, be even better than it was. Strength to all of you!
Thank you Robert. The hardest thing that has ever happened to you is the hardest thing thats every happened to you. And losing a home to a fire is pretty bloody hard. We went to a volunteer station to try and help hand out supplies to people over the weekend and there were more people trying to help than were needed. Way too many. Its good to see people reach out during the dark times. Its pretty dark right now for a lot of people. Thanks for the thoughts.
I've just found your channel. I've been in the inspirational doldrums for far too long now. Thanks for this, I feel it has re-awakened my drive to get "off my arse, (backside)" and get back out there. Thank you. I live in the UK and I hear what you're saying, there are too many "anti- socials" who are intent on spoiling our natural beauty sites because they're too lazy to do the right thing!!
Thank you for revealing your heart once again. As far as I'm concerned, that's what photography and filmmaking are for: to reveal one's heart and remind others to open theirs. Nice.
Glad you are safe. Thanks for sharing the struggle. I can tell what's happening in your neck of the woods is weighing on you. Keep your chin up and keep shooting.
Ben, this is exactly the type of content that makes me love your channel and vibe! Photography allows us to focus so much on unique details. Thanks for the presets; I imagine they can also be used with the G9II?
I don't think I've ever tried taking my macro out for a 'walkabout' but this video sure makes the idea appealing. Thanks! I need to give this a try in the coming weeks. Well done!
Yes Ben. Just picked up that lens to scan some film. This was very inspiring to go do something like this. These videos of yours like this have always inspired me to get out and just explore my backyard (a sad state that I dont do it myself) but at least it does get done. Thanks for sharing your day with us.
Ben, it may not have gone as you had planned, but this was incredibly inspiring, a creative kick in the pants. Thanks for this; we all need it occasionally.
Love this Ben, you have such a great eye. Something about this vid reminded me of the book "A Natural History of Empty Lots" by Christopher Brown. A book I think you would dig!
Interesting, I was just out for a short photo walk yesterday. I was exploring a small city river 2 minutes from my apartment. Full of plastic trash, bottles in trees, various debris and weird stuff. I also had my 100mm macro and a 55 macro. Its deep winter where I am. So nice to capture the small birds ducks and crows that manage to survive in the city. Also the ice crystals on the plants are fascinating. There is unexpected magic everywhere if you slow down and look closely. Question for you: I notice you're using a different aspect ration for this film. As a film maker, what determines your choice of aspect ratio? How does it influence the type of story you're telling? Thanks, look forward to more!
Yes! I find it endlessly rewarding. I've been experimenting with more "traditional" aspect ratios. I am IN LOVE with ultra wide frames so I'm just trying to see how I will deal with composing this way. Its good to shake things up every now and then. But there are some VERY WIDE things coming... Thanks for noticing.
Thanks for noticing! Its the 25mm Pani/Leica - Basically a 50mm. I finally got a step down ring so I could adapt my ND's to it and I've been using it on the gimble and just love it. Used it on an upcoming portrait shoot as well and its so cool. Will be my go to for a while I think - The GH7 has such good autofocus tracking that I can really trust it for these. Small and light - So fun. It's a MUST HAVE for M43. Appreciate the time.
Thanks man. It's my favorite jacket ever, a Filson Short Lined Cruiser. I've had it about 2 years. Those are also Filson Pants and I wear a lot of their shirts on the channel. Great stuff that is lifetime guaranteed. I need to be sponsored by Filson.
I actually Love It in a different way. And honestly I am not filming myself that much. I’ve grown to look forward to the creative challenges of it, and it IS very hard sometimes. I walk every morning with a camera and no filming so that just takes care of that aspect for me. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@adventureStaley Thanks for your reply. I tried it and it distracted me too much from taking photos. Glad it works out for you, I think you have a nice routine.
Brother you get intense sometimes. But that's ok, we need some intesity. It is so sad to see all that garbage strewn around. Discarded by people who don't care. It's everywhere. It feels a bit like a flashing warning sign. Given the state of the world and the people who are seizing power, the end of humanity as we've known it for generations seems certainly on the way. Better get out with that camera and capture whatever good you can find. By the way, I have a picture of a green discarded kid's bicycle in the woods. Couldn't say if its a Schwin because it was pretty rusted, but I'd be glad to send the shot if you want to see it. Cheers.

Yeah, but don’t forget he’s got a camera crew with him as well probably.

This humble little channel can't afford a camera crew man. Notice the camera never moves when I'm in it.
Haha, you beat me to the response by 2 minutes. Thanks pal.

Amazing. Thank ou for watching, I agree.

Right?
