Idk of a better lyricist out right now. Brett has an uncanny ability to paint pictures with words. It’s like I can see the song while I listen, absolutely amazing
Just wanted to let you guys know you’re the first band in a long time to give me “that feeling” goosebumps, and all the feels. I’m loving the new stuff! See you in Peterborough February
It seems this new album really speaks from your heart, how long have some of these songs been on the back burner in the writing process and how many were written within minutes? So far, I’m obsessed with everything. “You look me in the eyes, but I’m not really there.”
Hello. This whole process started about 4 years ago so that’s pretty much how long the songs have been around. None of them were written in minutes, and I think that’s so to the fact of how personal they are. I really tried to be responsible with working out how i felt and what I wanted to say this time around. Thanks.
Everything we’ve heard so far from the new album has a great, reinvigorated sound. New but still reminiscent of something decades ago. Can’t wait to hear the rest.
This song is amazing....the opening keyboards....then the rock steady lead vocals heading into that great chorus with fabulous vocal harmonies , that underlying humming vocal sound in the background towards the end of the song.. the guitar picking throughout the song......the pace the groove is great...I love how the keys, which sounds almost like a synthesizer, and the acoustic guitar are featured in this song... they're fabulous...... everything this band creates is in the elite art of great rock n roll music...well done again TGS🎼🎼🎶🎶⚡🌞✨🙏🏼
This is amazing! 😍 I really love the style eh, everything about it, the Lyrics, heart beat, soul, authenticity, passion. I feel at ease watching this, your looks remind me of my Uncle Jeff and I have the same couch as in the video! lol Glorious Sons, I can't wait to see the rest of your album!! 💗🌸🙌🥰
So far all the new singles are truly amazing. You can totally feel it comes from the heart and soul. You guys will always be special to me….My boyfriend proposed to me last weekend at the kee to bala show and I will always remember that night! Please please shoutout mark rinaldi ❤ he’s one of the biggest fans!
Their sound is all over. It's like they reach all corners of humanity. It's beautiful! Every song they've ever released are about the Truths of life. If you deny it, you haven't lived. ❤
Loving this vibe! Absolute RESPECT for delivering something unique and creatively different on each new release. Looking forward to hearing the others and seeing what you bring to the LIVE shows.
Everything from the album so far seems really great. Super stoked to hear the rest. What song or what part of a song are you most proud of or excited for the fans to hear? One of those things you just knew was great while you were recording it in studio..
Thank you guys for being good sports when my wife and I bumped into you at Bruce Springsteen! And for the amazing summer shows at the Kee with my family. Congrats on the new album. You guys rock!
Dear Brett and guys, Just wanted to let you guys know that you are the only band that I love all your songs. You are a poet and your songs are so soulful to me. Your songs are "the soundtrack in my life"😀
My fave..so far !!! Will we get to hear the other songs from Glory before it’s released and will there be a pre-order for the vinyl? LOVE YOU GUYS…I’ve never loved a band or music as much as I love TGS! You are a huge part of my life! Everything you touch turns to gold 💛
Love you guys, you are truly amazing. So when I say whats with the cut off ending, im coming from a place of giving a shit and caring about your music. Keep it up. #barrieontario
I find these new songs still have that Sons sound without being replicas of the old stuff. I love the dynamic of it. Is this something you guys shoot for?
No- not really. We’re we’re trying to make it sound like a dream. And for the lyrics I just wanted to write to someone and speak telepathically to them.
@@TheGloriousSons Gotcha :) The drumbeat immediately made me think of a-ha's "Take on Me" and was joking a bit in my question. Can't wait for the new album and to see you guys in Des Moines (my 5th show I believe) in September! 🤟🤟❤🔥❤🔥
Soooooooo good. ❤ deserves a better video though, like maybe a few friends in the back of a pickup truck driving through farmland in the summer as the sun goes down 😊
Love this band. Hope the new album brings back some of the sounds that I fell in love with from The Union (The Contender, Heavy, Lightning, Hard Times etc). This band just doesn’t miss
Do you have a preference when playing live to not play an instrument on top of singing? Or do you prefer strumming an acoustic with songs? Or impartial?
The boys love me without an acoustic but I love to play and feel connected to the band that way. Also my singing seems to be a little more automatic because I’m not listening o my voice so much.
Keep the music coming - new songs are great! See you next week in Sarnia. 🤘🏽 Are there any songs/artists/groups that have been inspirations for the released songs or the album overall?
Lynyrd Skynyrd Bruce Springsteen Matt Mays War on Drugs The Band The Eagles Neil Young Fleetwood Mac Big Thief The Beatles (Mainly for Fredrick) Bob Dylan U2 The Darkness The Killers John Lennon Kings of Leon The Who Arcade Fire The Rolling Stones Bob Segar Hamilton Leighthauser Jackson Browne Blaze Foley John Prine Townes Van Zandt Van Morrison Fleet Foxes David Bowie David Wiffen Simon and Garfunkel
so very excited for the rest of the album. there’s just something about you Sons that feel like home. we’re seeing you again at the auditorium in thunder bay for our anniversary - started counting as soon as we got our tickets. any chance kingdom in my heart would make it to the setlist?
I notice the dogs be out, whether it’s in this video or on stage. Do you take influence Ronnie Van Zant at all or you just like the feeling of the grass tween your toes lol
Another great song for another album shaping up to be great! Were there any songs that were particularly harder to write than others? Or did it sort of just flow from head to lyric? See you in August by the way bud!
Speed of Light was easy to write and extremely hard to finish. Took three recordings of the same song and three years. It’s one of those songs where you decide that it’ll never be perfect but you have to let it go.
@@TheGloriousSons I’m sure it will be another favourite of mine! I’m all too familiar with that struggle, down to the smallest details of beats hitting at the right time etc but it’s worth it in the end. Looking forward to hearing it!
Hi Brett and guys. The new songs feel a lot more personal this time around. Was it difficult to perhaps be a little more vulnerable with the lyrics? And why do you think it’s more feels and maybe less observational? Thx. Donna
Hello Donna. It was pretty hard this time around. I feel like for the most part we’re dealing with more complicated feelings- where as in something like YBAF, it was personal but felt more immature and less self aware (which is fine), but I wanted to grow and have my music grow with me.
All hail the mighty fool With too much of himself shining through Don’t tell him that there’s nothing to prove All hail the mighty fool And all hail the cosmic beam We hold it up from busted knees Let know man take more than he needs And be there for a friend that’s hanging on a cosmic beam.
Hey Brett! Are you guys moving more permanently towards acoustically inclined music, or do you see yourselves heading back towards heavier guitars at some point?
I don’t know. I’m just taking the inspiration wherever it comes from. I mean 2 years ago Daylight and young king were released. They’re two of our heaviest songs ever.
The Hip fills a spot in the heart of all Kingstonians. R.I.P. Gord Downie The Sons offer a different place in Kingston and still have to earn their 'chops' ❤ 😊😊
I hope you guys read these, my GF bought us 2 VIP ticket experiences, and we didn't get the email that the other local fans in Prince Goerge recieved. she loves you guys and spent the money for this experience, and we didn't get the email you sent out 3 days before your show to tell us where to be and what time to be there.... we didn't get the merch, the lanyards or anything promised in the VIP experience.... where are my answers? where's our refund?
It’s amazing how every album has a different vibe but they’re perfect ! Best live band I’ve seen in sooooo long!!
Hands down!!!
I’m a metal head and love theses guys 🎶
I'm going in two weeks!
They have perfected changing the sound of each album but not losing their true and original sound either.
Idk of a better lyricist out right now. Brett has an uncanny ability to paint pictures with words. It’s like I can see the song while I listen, absolutely amazing
You can really hear the Springsteen influence. Thank you rock n roll🤘
TY for making a YT ad for this song so I could get exposed to this band! So stoked! 💃🏻
* Note: A Touch of "Billy Idol" Voice! Cool Song! Merci.

I'm hearing you for the 1st time. I like what I hear.😊
this song really does it for me. it simply gives me the energy I need to take on whatever life has to throw at me.
Brett, you were like a tiger on the prowl on stage at kee to bala. This tours energy is going to be crazy!
Hell ya- feels like life has opened back up for me.

Haha Brett's face at the beginning: "Take 9...ugh I hate acting...can I just play the dam song"
Sounds like a vintage summer! I L❤VE it!
These boys deserve their own street in Kingston!❤
Great song. You guys remind me of The Tragically Hip, meets Blue Roadio. I grew up on both bands, been a fan of theirs since the late 80's.
OMFG!!! You guys Fu*ckin' ROCK!!! You Always Deliver!! Thanks so much for doing what you do & for keeping rock Alive!!!!
I love it, Ty, see you in FEbruary!!!!

This song is literally about the pleasing sound of the 501 Streetcar on Queen West wowwwza
My favorite band right now
Love the vocals on this one. Lower range sounds fantastic.
Amazing song, music, the whole nine yards. Just perfect! No surprises 😊
Another great tune, guys. Can't wait for the new album!

Do you guys ever miss?? Another banger!!! Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album and to see you guys in October!
Nice!! Very....
would you ever put out a lil album with those songs like lilacs all the way down and make a garden outta make etc?
Maybe someday. Don’t know yet.

Yes. Really don’t want to stay the same album to album.

Are some songs ever too hard to write, are some stories ever too sad to tell?
Some songs are to hard to write but the key is to pick away at them and let the feelings ruminate.
I don’t think any story is to sad to tell
I feel like the boys have returned to their roots for the new tunes. Wonder if that’s the intention ? Harkening back to the early days.
No. There is no such thing as returning to your roots in my eyes. It’s just about trying to explain the feeling now, and hoping it is enough.
so very excited for the rest of the album. there’s just something about you Sons that feel like home.
we’re seeing you again at the auditorium in thunder bay for our anniversary - started counting as soon as we got our tickets. any chance kingdom in my heart would make it to the setlist?
Probably not-might work it out differently as a live song to try and change the feel and meaning.
@@TheGloriousSons fair enough!! just felt like it would be remiss of me to not ask about our song!
Gonna miss Chris Koster sooooo much.
I notice the dogs be out, whether it’s in this video or on stage. Do you take influence Ronnie Van Zant at all or you just like the feeling of the grass tween your toes lol
I actually think the initial influence was from my brother Jay who took influence from Ronnie. So ya! Literally love that man.

Dude u are way better now...dude ur gonna make some money
Hahahahahahahaha. Thank you
I often refer to you as a lyrical poet, out of your newly released music what is your favourite verse?
All hail the mighty fool
With too much of himself shining through
Don’t tell him that there’s nothing to prove
All hail the mighty fool
And all hail the cosmic beam
We hold it up from busted knees
Let know man take more than he needs

pretty good song! also brett you should really pin my comment
One of the best rok bands today...but the industry hasn't figured it out yet
I wish K-rock would switch to Surviving with The Sons instead of Driving home with the Hip
What?😅
Huh?
I assume it's a bad translation but hard to tell.
The Tragically Hip & The Glorious Sons are both from Kingston. I'm guessing this refers to a radio station's after-work program name.
