    I'm 14 and dancing to this song with the first boy I ever loved. Will never forget him or the song. The year: 1963. Where would we be without our memories! Thanks for this one.

    Thank you all who have seen the video and wrote comments! Indeed, Gene is a great singer of all times. This video is original and if it appears as out of synchronization, it is because of the velocity of the Internet connection you have. Now, I have the original video and when I watch it at full velocity, I can enjoy the real talent and voice that Mr. Pitney had. Bye

    Not only is it a great song, sung by a great singer/songwriter, but it is also the theme to one of the best German movies of the 60s, which hit here in the USA in October, 1961.

    If you lived in the time that this song was popular, there is no way you weren't effected by this song. It was a movie about young love, rape and prejudice and also discrimination. This song puts it right there and tugs at your heart strings. Great song; great singer.

    One of my favorite songs of the sixties. I liked it very much as Gene Pitney's voice is very good and he sings with feeling and depth this song making one feel the tragedy he mentions in it. He is one of those singers that can paint a picture for one to see with the songs he sings. Very good.

    Wonderful song; always thought he was singing "This sane granite planet falls apart," but I see after researching the lyrics, he's singing, "This clay and granite planet falls apart." At times I guess this granite planet isn't very "sane." In any event, it was nice to see and hear this live-performance version of the song. Thanks for putting it on RUclips for all to enjoy.

    You know what I love about Gene Pitney, as a classically trained musician myself, is not how fast you can sing, or how much coloratura, it’s the ability to hold the audience’s attention in the really slow stuff. Gene does it perfectly here and also in 24 Hours from Tulsa. What a voice, what a musician!

    • @maxinegray1587
      @maxinegray1587 5 лет назад +1

      Kathy - Interesting to read comments from those who really appreciate what and who this man was. When asked what development and training allowed him to achieve the many accolades he had Gene replied "There was no development, no training". In other words he was a natural and in the early part of his career had what he called a 'listeners ear'.
