@@ladytheaemuhinomura Amanda moves to England to, they get married and have two more children. Amanda sets up her work from England, and only goes to LA once a month.
I like how the movie didn't give the audience everything at the end, just gave them everything they needed to fill in the rest. That is *extremely* difficult to do well.
They should of had a sequel to this movie, it was the very best movie ever , there chemistry was something else, and loved Jack Black, he was pretty sexie
Whenever I'm sad and feel like giving up, I always watch this scene cause it makes me happy and feel things that I need to feel. I love Christmas and this scene just makes me feel so so happy. It makes me feel excited and can't wait for Christmas. The song is perfect, how they're dancing and having fun. That's what all Christmas is about. 2 more months, and its finally Christmas! This part never fails to make me happy and smile
I feel u girl i rlly do there have been days where i have the worst luck with guys and i start questioning myself (am i being too choosy? I am ever going to find anyone who excites me let alone will go out with me? Am i even ready to date right now? blah blah blah) until ultimately i end up a big lump of sad. I don't even like the whole rom-com genre but this film i watched in the weeks leading up to Christmas and COMPLETELY renewed my faith in life and love, not to sound too cheesy. But i realised that even tho there are rom-coms that are mushy as all hell and don't have a deeper meaning whatsoever, the whole genre is the most important one yet. People like us need the reassurance even fictional to tell us that life can be unexpected sometimes and when we just take it for what it is, you can just be awesome and find someone who is awesome too. If we were without rom-coms, i garuntee all hope would be lost for the single ladies out there. We just need to hold on and find ourselves no matter how long it takes. If there are any girls like me reading this (or maybe not lol ik it's a lot to read), hang in there sweethearts and if i may paraphrase one of my favourite films - "don't be the same, be different."
Omg I just did that tonight. I for the first time ever I just realized I shared a significant trait or experience with both Iris and Amanda: from Iris I share the feeling she describes on one of her monologues delivered to Miles. And with Amanda I share the break up of my parents when I was shy of 16
It's because... they become friends first and then gradually fell for each other unlike the other pair...so things will progress over time ❤️..btw i absolutely adored them
I love how Miles is perfectly happy to spend his New Years with Iris in a completely different country than he’s used to with her brother, his new girlfriend and two kids. He’s a keeper, Iris!
An incredible feel good movie that makes your re-evaluate your life, keep your eye open for unexpected soul-filling moments, and makes you want to go find your happily ever after. Can’t say enough about the soundtrack, the homes, and the writing...just wow....❤️❤️❤️❤️
Jude Law and Jack Black never had any scenes together, except for the final reunion. This is one of the finest romantic movies ever. Kate Winslet and Cameroon Diaz were outstanding. It is a comfort movie for me #TheHoliday - whenever I feel a bit low, I watch it.
It’s Christmas Eve 2020 and yup this is still the most perfect most romantic Christmas movie ever. All the new ones are crap, just watch this one. I watch it every Christmas Eve and every Christmas Eve I cry like a baby when it gets to this last scene.
I love love love love LOVE this movie. I love the whole feel and vibe it gives, so warm and cuddly and christmassy, and the music, THE MUSIC!!! Hans Zimmer is my absolute favourite composer of all times and for him to produce music for this movie is FANTASTIC!!! I struggle mentally with anxiety and depression and my health is going down the drain, not sure how long I can hold on in this world... But on my hardest days, I put the soundtrack from this movie on and go sit outside on my steps in front of my door, and I look up on the trees like Iris did, I can see the trees dancing in the wind and the sun shining on the leaves with white clouds going by on a blue sky, and I feel the excitement of the future and what it has to hold for me. It really helps lift me from my darkness. Crying now even because I am so grateful I found this movie.
ONE OF THE GREATEST MOVIE ENDINGS EVER!!! FREAKING LOVED THAT CAST!!! FYI: Does anybodyelse notice that Sophie and Olivia's hair look shorter at the end? I like to think they got inspired by Amanda.
I’ve become less of a sucker for happy endings in recent years. But it’s the way it’s all executed that has to count to make me enjoy the movie! I couldn’t agree more
Loved the entire film!!! And in this scene, the happy ending scene, it's just simply perfect! And their holiday dresses--jealous!!! Those dressed were stunning!!!
I watch this movie curled up on couch with my husband of 52 yrs, he a fan of Jack Black, me a fan of them all and we snuggle and enjoy! Thank you for a wonderful tradition ❤
watched this last night and i cant believe why did i sleep on this for so many years, after last night, it became my most favorite romance movie of all time lol no one can top this. (also changed my life, might sound corny buttt idc)
I know how you feel. I discovered the movie a little over a year and a half ago. I was 13 when it came out. I’m 31 now! I felt like a break from the mixed bag N Flix or Hallmark holiday romcoms that have been coming out lately. I’ve now seen The Holiday twice!
Oh my goodness. I never thought of that. That's so true. They got to be such good friends though, I am convinced she visited him till he passed. And she said a speech and tribute at his celebration of life.
I caught part of it. Iris says she's never been so happy & Amanda agrees & they both say it's amazing. Then Iris goes over to her brother & he says I've never seen you so happy. That's about all I could make out.😊
It's almost depressing that this film was released ages back. 16 yrs. back. Anyway... They're all looking good here. It's just so perfect. You start craving this. A beautiful relationship for yourself. 😄🥰😍
I was 11 back then. But this is outrageously beautiful for Christmas. And I thought everyone would share their birthday with Jesus even though I respect all religions as a good agnostic guy who has no grudge on anyone.
Everyone is so happy with this ending. Am I the only one who thinks that just by the next day they'll have to face the unevitable separation and heartbreak? Amanda goes back to the US and the relationship is over.
I did use to wonder about that but then I also thought about the fact that one did movie trailers and the other scores if I remember correctly. I wonder if those jobs can pretty much be done anywhere.
I like to think that Amanda would've moved to the UK eventually (maybe sold her company, or switched to working remotely, or switched to editing trailers for UK films/tv), and Iris maybe would've moved to the US for a bit until Arthur passed away - then her and Miles would've moved to the UK since he could probably score films anywhere too.
Well earned happy endings are so hard to find these days! I was surprised the first time how good this movie was. And it’s not one of those cliche holiday romcoms!
This is the only scene Amanda and Iris are face to face.
As everyone else from the movie :)
In fact the whole gang is together.

Pretty surprising to me
One of the best holiday movies ever.
Ilayda Gunes it was the last film my mom and grandma saw in theaters together. I love this movie too.
totally true Holiday (2006) one of the iconic christmas movie

They both got rid of their no good ass boyfriends and found absolute hands down prizes and are so happy.
I Love 💕 Love this movie. I can watch it over and over and over.
No matter how many times I watch this movie, this last scene gives me a big smile on my face every time.
I’ve only seen this movie twice. I discovered the movie a while back. I was 13 when it came out. I didn’t know what I was missing out on
Kate Winslet and Jack Black are sooo cute together. In my sequel, Miles moves to England, starts his own company and marries Iris.
what an amazing idea and for graham and amanda ?

Absolutely should have had a sequel. Alas I fear that today they are all too old, especially Jack Black who is over 50...

Beautiful movie, melodious track by legendary Hans Zimmer, natural performances by all actors. Nostalgia overload!
Didn't know Zimmer wrote the score to this. That explains why it's so masterful 🤩
This song is by Sam Cooke sung in this version here by Aretha Franklin.
Hans Zimmer makes classical scores.
