Honestly I love Tone, Koken, and KTC I switched my entire Box and all my tools over about a year ago. They hold up great and won’t break the bank compared to snap-on I’d recommend them whole heartedly.
We have these at work, you don't want to be cracking stubborn bolts with them, but once it's cracked, these can be very useful for unwinding them if they're a bit stiff
Bro, you have to believe me. I bought the set too, my wife found out and got in contact with your wife. They plotted to kill us. Your wife gets me, mine finishes you. Run If you see a middle aged, mid height, mid aged, brown/blonde/black haired women
And a metal case that optimizes compact storage, rather than the suburban sprawl of laying them all out flat. Makes it harder to sell $$$$$ roller cabinets if you’re smart about storage and minimize your needs.
people in the comment arent so weird, you do NOT start with the open ratcheting side ! You loosen it first with a flare nut wrench/regular open end. THEN you ratchet it. I've had a set for like 15 years and never had a problem.
Those open ended ratcheting wrenches are really cool. New to me. I wonder if you can put a lot of force on them, and how much they round off bolt heads or nuts? Do they strip fasteners more than regular wrenches?
I have a Knipex adjustable wrench that achieves the open end ratchet effect by means of the shape of the head. It works very well and costs a fraction of these tools.
I wouldn't purchase these as your only wrench set. They're awful for anything that needs to be actually tight. They're a niche use case wrench that comes in handy at times, but will not function as a daily use set for very long.
I like Japanese tools. Ever since I was somehow introduced to Nepros/KTC. I’ve been slowly collecting and replacing tools I had. Used to work in the electrical industry briefly. Bought a lot of Klein Tools. Great tools. But fell on hard times had to sell all/most of what I had to pay bills/survive.
Yeah they dont strip things out like you think since it forces you to use it correctly but some times you just need the wrench in a specific orientation that the design will prevent you from applying force to the bolt in those specific positions
I have the SATA version of these and I’ve been pleased. They’re a little gimmicky but it’s one of those things that can save you a little bit of aggravation from time to time…
The only application I would use the open end are for low torque hardware where it may be possible to crack loose and tighten battery terminals nuts, and interior trim screws. Having said that, the dilemma is whether to purchase a set or just the small wrenches.
Looking at these, they have to be made in the same factory as the older style Facom ratchet wrenches. In Europe KS Tools have variations of these.....I have a set of standard pattern reversible combi wrenches with an identical ratchet open end, and a set of short pattern flex heads with the locking box end. Taiwanese made I believe and very good quality.
Hello ! This is a marvelous find. May I ask 2 questions : 1) Any idea of the max torque tolerated by the ratchet mechanisms (especially the open-ended one) ? 2) Are those actually made in Japan ? Thank you !
Just get yourself the gear wrench ones they are the best selling ones on the market has to offer cheaper don’t always mean better always remember “you get what u pay for”
I always thought Gear Wrench was going to come out with something like this.. Super cool to see someone did.. Although after working in the industry for over a decade I no longer think I have a need for these....
They look nice except for the detent on the flex side. I think only locking flex heads should have that feature. Non locking flex heads should move freely.
The only thing I have to say , would be the throw on it.. I mean I’m really happy and excited that this is a thing, but most of the times I’ve ever been like “man.. a ratcheting open end wrench would come in soooo much handy right now” would be something with such a short throw
Open end rathet ends don't work all that well. Special case uses because you have to be completely square on the nut otherwise the wrench slips. I had a set and ended up trading them in for a regular wrench set.
What would have been even better would be a ratcheting open end on one end and a flare (line wrench) on the other end. There was a Taiwanese company that made such a tool years ago and it was sold by Northern Tool but they discontinued it because a lot of guys didn’t understand the usefulness. It was called Z-Wrench or something similar. If anyone knows where I can buy such a set of wrenches please let me know. Thanks.
You can never have too many tools, and about to have even more lol. I can definitely use a set of wrenches like this and the fact in comes in steel case is a nice touch like something out of the 60s or 70s
Are these kinda breakable? Looks like you need to slide them onto the hex-head from one specific angle... Sometimes you can't do that. So.... If I forgot that the little black (plastic?) thing was in there and slid it on the hex from the top instead of the side... would it bust off?
I actually gave the RMFQ700BR that comes with the bit set and ratchet adapters for 1/4,3/8 and 1/2. The quality is superb. I was skeptical of using to much torque but so far they held up strength wise and survived 2 years of midwest weather in unheated garage. The open end ratchet takes some getting use to. I used oil needle on the 72 teeth side for smoother operation. The metal case is worth some money by itself. I have been on a journey buying japanese tools. Most new items are koken, ktc , tone and fujiya . I would also recommend buying older fuller japan, asahi and aigo tools. It’s more difficult to get standard/imperial sizes from new tool sellers and I’ve managed to complete a few standard sets of the older tools from places like ebay.
Tools in a steel case? Did I wake up in the 70s?
Just shows how far American quality has fallen, and how superior Japanese craftsmanship is. That's why I only buy Japanese cars.
Heavy metal 🤘
@@katdat1399 Japenese cars are still made in america tho lol

open end ratchet ?!
my life is complete now

Old...
A company called Herbrand had an open end ratcheting wrench in the 70’s , the difference is the little black locking piece is not in their design
I hope they sell the 10mm separate...
@@buffystclair9042 Craftsman sold a set of them too...without the separate little part.
I'm usually skeptical of people trying to reinvent something as simple as hand tools but this actually seems really useful
I feel like the case alone is a showcase of confidence the people feel who made these
amazon japan is a godsend
Nice video. Ratcheting open end wrenches never work quite right. I’ve stopped using them. Live confidently and peacefully
I've got a set from 20 years ago I got around the time i got my first car, still got em, still shiny. Least useful tool in my garage.
You can see the contact points are horrible, you would chew up a bolt with any force
@@nah3193 Yea, seems like best use for these is for a tight space after breaking the bolt.
Until I see these tested on Project Farm, I’m highly sus.

I would not use the open end on anything tight. It may slip and round out the nut or bolt head. If i need racheting action i will use the closed end
Craftsman made “quickwrenches” like 20 years ago that allowed you to ratchet the open end. It worked just like these, but I rarely used that feature.
that open end side is ingenious

8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21 (11 wrenches)
