Thank you for this. You made this very clear to me. I am new to knitting, and wondered why all of a sudden I would need to change how I purl. But now, it is just an increase. 😊
Thank you! I've been doing it the first way, not moving the yarn from the back, but since the added stitch was SO tight I felt for sure I was doing it wrong. This makes it both nice and loose, and it's just easier to actually purl! 💖
Thank you for the very good lesson. I'm making my first lace scarf and came across the yo, p, and didn't know how to do it. Now I can do it with confidence.
I know you posted this forever ago, but it's still very helpful. (I'm working on my first top-down sweater, and your video came in super-handy-- thank you!)
This was so helpful! I have a pattern with a raglan that asks me to yo pm and then purl and I was overthinkng it and got confused. This cleared it up a lot
Thank you Janet! It's so funny because I think this video is about five years old now and when I look back I cringe a little at the music in the background. I'm all grown up now and have seen the light. 😂😉 Thank you for watching!
I am search of help I have a pattern that goes from brioche stitch to rib but the way it reads I am very confused. Is there a chance you could help me with this. Here is the writing from the pattern. When changing the pattern from brioche to simple ribs, knit the knit stitch together with the yo, and purl the purl stitch together with the yo. I would be so grateful. And thank you for this tutorial
Can you please show me how to do a YO,slip 1, P2 tog. When I do it, it does not look right. The YO crosses over the slipped stitch in the back for the next YO. Is that right??
How do I make the yo into a purl stitch? Like, my next stitch is a yo and the instructions say to purl the yo through the back loop. How do I do this? Anyone?
So, that is definitely a tricky operation. You really need to wiggle that YO open so you can get your needle into the back of it. I should do a video on this as well!
Ironic that after some "colourful language" my phone added this video to my feed; the pattern I am working has a y/o, purl, k3, cddp, I might've asked for too much as my first lace project!! 🙊🙉🙈
You information is good but the music is very distracting to try to pay attention to what you are saying. I stopped part way thru as I couldn't concentrate on what you were saying. 😢
Thank you so much !!
Lucky mum to have you !! 😀😀😀
Thank you so much for making this video!
I always get confused about P1,YO, P1. Now I finally get over it.

My pleasure! Thank you for watching Ryan!

i have been doing this the hard way forever!!!!!! THANK YOU!

Perfect timing!! I was just trying to figure out how to do this.
Loch Briar Knits I am so glad Kelly! What luck! It's a pretty random technique so I'm happy you got use out of it right away.
Very clear and helpful!
Great demo! I love that you go slowly enough that I can follow along and practice this as you demonstrate it. Subscribed!
Love the banjo music!
Six years later, I think you're the first person (other than me) to feel that way. 😘
I love bluegrass music! BTW, the lesson was also very helpful!
Your explanation is very clear…the best I’ve seen, actually. However, the loud banjo music is distracting.

I do the k1 yo p1 the same way you do 💕What is the brand of you vintage-looking needles, been admiring them? 😊
Thanks Oom. Unfortunately I have no idea! There's nothing printed on them and I can't remember where I found them. 😬
Extra point for the music.

Love your videos but PLEASE turn down the music!!🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for the compliment. Please keep in mind that I produced this video six years ago. My videography and editing has evolved. 👍❤️
Anyone here because of the Zweig sweater?
Ooo is this a technique done in the Zweig??
I can't believe the number of complaints about the music! Really?
lol. Right?! And they’re rolling in 6-7 years after the fact. 🥴
Music is to aloud and annoying
The music made it hard to watch and listen to this video.
The video is fine, but the loud banjo is most unpleasant & distracting.
get rid of the music
Christine Attard the music is embedded in the video. If it’s not your preference, I’m sure there’s another tutorial out there just for you. 👍
would be great without the awful music
