Better than a horse, better than a bicycle. In Art of Cornering, superbike race guru Keith Code talks about the allure and dangers of riding a motorcycle through turns.
Keith Code is a living legend. When i started to ride motorbikes (actually, i'm a surfer stuck in a place with no surf), i watched every video i could find, and figured out pretty quickly - for me, Keith Code was the voice i wanted to listen to most. And listening saved my life, flying into a corner, on a mountain road outside of Hanoi, way way too hot - i calmed down, recalled the lessons of Twist of the Wrist and other vid's of his - and the bike sailed around the corner like it was on rails. I was stoked - and not smashed in the rocky valley below. Instinct may get you going, but it takes technique and practice to get good at something.
I've done three levels of California Superbike School, and hand on my heart in all honesty, it's the best training anyone can get on the planet. If your serious about learning the art of cornering, you need to do their training.
Senetor17 or just ride in CO through the many different turns and elevation increases or decreases many times eventually getting better and learning the true art of cornering.
True. That' was awesome. Nicely explained. I literally relived those moments of 'Awakening of Senses' virtually, seeing those motorbikes cornering ! :)
They drive the bikes all over the USA. CSS was in Alabama Memorial Day Weekend (Barber Motorsports Park). They typically only go to "world class" tracks.
The small sense of 'getting it right' with each corner is like a dog getting a treat for doing what they are asked to do... (-; And it is 'addictive' to "get it right" over and over... I am NOT "a Racer" and never intend to be one... I just LOVE to ride! Whether 'cruising' on open country highways (gliding smoothly like a ballet), or 'working' the twisty mountain roads (like a running back, cutting and turning and reacting instantly)...or even the Challenges of an occasional Track Day... Getting the curves and corners right makes the whole ride glorious! SURE, I LOVE the Straight Line acceleration and speed, and the sounds of the engine as it flexes its muscles! But the curves are the hot fudge on top of the ice cream...
This video isn't here to teach you how to do it. It's here to entice you to enrol in CSS. I did and I can highly recommend their training and instruction. I'll be back for level 4 soon.
Watch these. You will have to adapt to the regulations where you live but the principles are the same. ruclips.net/video/pmYh1FWYtUA/видео.html. ruclips.net/video/G50TSyyvBxc/видео.html The first video, they are travelling at well over 100mph at times.
when I turn my street bike on it feels like I opened the Pandora's box. when I flip the switch in my race bike it feels like I m opening the gates of hell!!!!!
TIP: If you are entering a right corner/bend, turn the steering to the right -- and don't lean over to the left -- also, don't be texting your friends halfway round the corner or eating a doughnut.
I think you would want to brake to the outside. find the bend into the apex and not to fast that you miss the exit on the other side of road, cause once your in the dirt ...
I see people dropping the knee, after this vid and another I've seen you do, where weight shift does little, why shift weight? Do you have a vid that addresses that?
For those who ride the track regularly or semi-regularly, I was wondering if you can critique my body position. A good friend of mine recorded a cool mini video of me riding over here in Massachusetts in an area with a couple of VERY nice corners. It's my most recently uploaded video on my channel. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks!!!
Looks like your basic form is good. The video doesn't really show how well you're choosing your line into the curves so no comment on that is possible. If you want to improve past the point you're at, a school would be a way to leap forward since the teachers can spot stuff you can't spot yourself. I live on the Mae Hong Son/ Pai loop in Thailand, although I have 1800 curves close to the house, riding only teaches a limited amount. Regardz!
ok statistics used every day show that if you have a point blank impact, it makes no difference whether you were doing 30 or 130 you are still dead,,,but the mess,, lol, a long time ago i did my mates wife a favor and collected a 50cc from aberdeen and rode it to inverness,,,100 mile,,, ohh i wont be doing that again

Why on Earth aren't there schools like this one in every state? I would sign up immediately.
They drive the bikes all over the USA. CSS was in Alabama Memorial Day Weekend (Barber Motorsports Park).

There are in a lot of states. The MSF course is a good start. Take their courses and build up to this .
me too
would love to go to that school
Marvellous brief summary and exhortation from the master.

I have a superbike school 4min walking distance from me. i live right behind circuit of the Americas👌👌 taking the class next month.
That taught me precisely ... fuck all
It's an ad. It wasn't supposed to teach you anything. Read/watch Twist of the Wrist II and you'll learn something. Better yet, take the class.

There's a video around here of Twist of the wrist. That should make you want to buy the book later.
UXXV hahaha i know right. I was just thinking the same thing lol

Yes totally agree to your take on riding !
Love this guy.

Best video i watch...Felling___take me to the mountains.....feel the curves n don't hug them
Yes, if your not aware of COUNTER STEERING, then your not riding with control.
I see people dropping the knee, after this vid and another I've seen you do, where weight shift does little, why shift weight? Do you have a vid that addresses that?

lol, every time you get on two wheels, you have the freedom to controle your own destiny, that dosnt matter if its 1300cc or 50cc
well, you just have to control your destiny a lot slower with the 50cc
ok statistics used every day show that if you have a point blank impact, it makes no difference whether you were doing 30 or 130 you are still dead,,,but the mess,, lol, a long time ago i did my mates wife a favor and collected a 50cc from aberdeen and rode it to inverness,,,100 mile,,, ohh i wont be doing that again

Wanna smoke whatever he's smoking
What did he teach in this video? Nothing just marketing. So...
Alexandre Marton The title says nothing about it being a tutorial
Obviously, this is an ad.. lol. Go watch the actual video.
KCode is still the best explanation man for the begginer to advanced.
background songs please...-_-/
Why not, at least, call it "(f)art of cornering"? we'd at least laugh at the title and not take it seriously!
Just an add.
what the fuck did he teach?????
Tabrez Shams principals
Fuckin ad
Counter steering does not work I tried it and my bike stood up right instantly aka stopped turning
You did it wrong
How is it possible that a person has a motorcycle driving license and doesn't know about counter-steering?
lol, it didn't work for you and the turn didn't happen. Right? If you make it work the turn will happen with ease. All the best.
yeah no ive been trying for ages now and still no difference must be a dual sport thing
if you cant counter steer you cant ride a bike properly
just a fuc.ing comercial
Not what the title claims Video is junk, its just a marketing pitch and talks nothing about cornering.
Alexander Kunz attend the school
Airy fairy nonsense.
