Aaron Fan Well, the siege week 2 years ago and many other things are fantastic in ED and they rarely acknowledge them. Hopefully Aaron will give them some new awards in the upcoming awards.
Everyone was amazing throughout these episodes but this scene with Cain doing his speech was phenomenal - seeing this emotional side of him was heartbreaking. Jeff Hordley was incredible.
Cain is superb. There are so many top-notch actors on this show. I'm going to miss Val. She was such a spitfire and I liked her being there for Robert (even if it was just to mind his business) and antagonizing Diane. Really liking the exposition of this event and just Emmerdale on a whole. I gave up on U.S soaps over ten years ago and never looked back (except for when I tried watching the Luke/Noah storyline and I couldn't even make it through that) but since discovering Stendan and other gay storylines in UK and European soaps, it's started to appeal to me again. Emmerdale is the first one that's made me consider watching entire eps. The actors are simply top tier and most of the storylines are great and well done, especially the ones that tackle real life issues. I think when I'm caught up with the current Robron storyline, I will indeed start watching the full episode so there won't be as many blanks about what the other characters are going through.
Most US Soap Opera's are shown as daytime drama, so you could expect that budget wise, it's kinda limited since it's geared toward the stay-at-home-wife. And storywise... a proper budget affects that as well. While in the UK, most Soaps are geared towards nighttime viewing... Hence producers have more leeway to stretch storylines that borderline into a TV Drama, like Emmerdale.
i remember my bedroom door broke and i got locked in my room had to pass my dog through the window to my sisters room but i couldnt get out while waiting for the housing to come out and fix the door so i could get all i kept shouting i need a wee they even passed me food through the window and i shouted back i dont want food i want a wee and could here my fam and the lad fixing the door laughing on the other side 😂😂😂😂

American soaps are too wrapped up in showing all these young hot guys shirtless and waxed and the young hot women in just enough to pass censorship and that's it. The storylines are drawn out for months, weeks and even years and the writing gets stale and predictable. Also American soaps always have that closed in feeling because 99.9% of the time both interior and exteriors are all filmed on indoor sets which give them a claustrophobic look after a while.
Chandler Verastro American soaps are also daytime not primetime. They have much smaller budgets and can't really afford to do these kinds of stunts and effects and the actors also don't get much time to prepare or reshoot a scene.
Aaron Fan Well, Emmerdale cooks 6 episodes per week. More than any soap. I suppose the actors in ED don´t have more time to prepare than the ones in American soaps. The rest is true. But still, there are little shows around the globe that achieve great things writing and acting wise. American soaps are just dire, sometimes the same scene goes on for days and the dialogues are the same in all of them. The whole style is so fake. Sometimes one can enjoy some cuteness here and there though. But it´s just my opinion :)
sanyrub According to Kate Oates they film 4 episodes in 9 days but this weeks episodes were shot in 23 days. But they air 6 episodes a week. An American soap would not have the budget to spend 23 days filming 6 episodes with such effects. And yes American soaps are dire, but they are written that way (to their detriment I think) so people who haven't been watching still know what's happening. Missing a week or sometimes even just one episode of ED can cause confusion. Back in the day when they were more popular they were done much better. They still dragged a bit but not only were they better produced but they also produced some very popular/talented actors. Julianne Moore (ATWT), Meg Ryan (ATWT), Brad Pitt (AW), John Stamos (GH), and Demi Moore (GH) all got their start on soaps. Not to mention Jensen Ackles was on DOOL before he did Smallville and Supernatural. And I would fight someone to the death for saying he is a bad actor lol. With the massive budget cuts they are willing to accept a scene that is poorly acted as long as the dialogue isn't flubbed. I also think that the networks would rather have the cheap to produce talk shows over a soap.
Aaron Fan Ok yes for this week I know teh actors had more time (basically because the production team needed it to make it), but usually, those 4 episodes in 9 days is pretty much a lot of work and not much time.
