I would have to disagree. Technical wise, you might be right, but the sound of these riffs have improved from their first EP to somewhere around S*****e Season. Then I guess they stayed the same since. I would rather listen to the Antivist riff or the Mantra riff 50 times than to listen to PFP riff 50 times.
Riffs are probably my favorite part of Metal, There the part of metal I really like to be genre mixed into the other genres I listen to like Electronic and Synth

You can see the impact Curtis Ward had on the first 2 albums(no reflections & blessings) with his riff style. Suicide Season onward where he wasn't involved the riffs became super simple, but Lee still makes them sound awesome.
Get something with a longer scale, has higher string tension on lower tunings without using mega thick strings, something like a LTD H-1000, the EC1000(what he uses) is a great sounding and playing guitar but it gets a bit muddy any lower than drop B
