You are correct, a swiss army knife robot for programmers and college students. The 1xx and 2xx series were the best, they learned, loaded with ways to program. Sony would never call them dogs, they had no intention of them being dog like. This all changed with the ERS-7, and now the 1000 were its more directed at regular people wanting a robot dog.
You got the point. The ers-1000 is simply adorable but it lacks the nerdy magic of the older models. My dog-lover side tells me that I want an ers-1000 so badly, but my engineer side tells me that, if I could afford it, I wouldn't enjoy it as much as I'd enjoy getting one from the 1xx or 2xx series. I understand that it's a business, and that Sony has found an opportunity in the rising popularity of robotics, and that the 1000 might be a great introduction to basic programming for teens, but they shouldn't forget about other customers. I'm sure they'd make a very good business by selling replacement parts, batteries and offering services for the older series, which are still popular among programmers and students. I'd love to see the aibo soccer cups become the thing again, which I don't think will be possible with the 1000.
ERS-1000's back leg joints wouldn't be able to allow it to run on its knees like older models could do, so it really can't. It also can't track the ball while running like older models were capable of, and isn't fully programmable either.
Yea, my 2 210 aibos are definitely amazing, but come on, when you look at the 11x and 2x aibos, they just look like a dog, so I call my 210s dogs because they look to be more in a dog perspective then a lion cub
Great video! I think you did a pretty thorough job of going through Aibo history. If your dog is running Service pack 3 of Mind 3, try running your ERS7 on May 11 and check out what they say! I love it.
@@Ninten110dogs I honestly thought AiBos were some sort of toys, but rather expensive-looking. Or something…I mean, AiBos aren’t toys even though they look like one, but they really aren’t.
What about the aibo playstation? not much was know about it, other than it is going to be used to support the ps3 and the psp, but the Playstation line pretty much saved itself with the PS4. so the aibo didn't even made it to prototype stage of development. you can find a picture of it, and you can also get a 3D Model of the robot dog that was never meant to be.
Ah, I had heard that the art of it was made up and not truly an official documents of Sony. But there's not much known about it, so I really have no idea.. 🤔
@@Ninten110dogs yeah I believed that the design of the body was inspired by the ERS-7. @@nathanlyonproductions917 nice! I knew about those but since they're just samples and not prototypes, they don't count for the video. There's a 210 prototype and 110 and 220 developer models out there as well but they're not different enough from the official released models to actually count in the video.
@@Ninten110dogs I'm going with make a retro style homemade aibo! I call it the ERS-917! I'll look at pictures of old aibo models for inspiration! But I can't make one without a 3D printer, so I'm saving up money. I'll probably be making other robots too.
I wanted a find the full commercial for the Aibo-ERS 220. I tried asked poster of the Aibo ERS 220 clips where they got the clips from, but they never answered.. BTW nice video!
It's pretty much cancelled at this point-- but my boyfriend and I have talked about bringing it back someday, but certainly changing things up a bit so that it'll be enjoyable :)

Pix's tail is so skinny there, what happened to her tail? 😊❤
Ah, this is an old video. She didn't have a tail when I got her, so I had made one for her with a rubber string. 😊
You lied. The 7 was not the last or the newest. You forgot the 1000. There’s probably more to come after the 1000.
